What!!? Never felt talented... That guy is a GENIUS..! Raw, uncensored, dark, and serious. Nothing ive ever heard hits as hard as some of Garys songs. Blew my mind 😳
There was a small bunch of misfits in my Massachusetts suburb that enjoyed his music so much. Then 30 years later he played live and my wife and I really enjoyed the show. 30 years + of music that delivers
Cars came out when I was just 15 years young. I loved that song. I played it over and over and over again and again. Don't Stop Gary. You are too far ahead of your time...
What a well grounded nice guy and saying he’s humble is an understatement, I grew up on his late 70’s music Gary Numan is super talented whether he thinks so or not !
What a decent guy he is. Grew up with electronic music and new wave in the 80s and love his music since them. Now for the first time I see the guy behind this epic music and it makes it even better. Lovely couple.
Gary numan is incredible Live, one of the best accurate shows I have ever seen. My son is 4, and he loves your music Gary, he sings along, watches hypnotised and really admires you.
I watched the documentary a few years ago about his move to the USA and his family trips. I got the impression that family life was a very positive effect for him, especially after his earlier experiences in life..
Awesome....i made their wedding rings....i didn't even recognise him until my employer pointed it out... love his music and especially his more recent stuff...it's pretty heavy and dark
Gary's music came up in my RUclips feed about 10 years ago and started playing next song in rotation automatically I thought who is this guy sounds wonderfully great been a huge fan ever since.
I grew up in the 50's and I live for music, it's the language of the Universe. When the song "Cars" came out I knew it was a song that would be played well into the future. Thanks Gary for adding this song to the Universe.
i have followed you through all that you have done you must be the most underrated musicians ever your music is still played and i love your drive to make new music as a singer and songwriter my self you have the ability to keep changing and modernising music i'm just lacking making or creating the music for my songs as i'm epileptic i can't play instruments so i admire you and also your family watching them in the music industry just brilliant hope to see one of your shows soon
Garry is one of my great superstars of the 80ties , he was even adored in belgium ! He is not only the godfather of eletro pop , he is the emperor of synthesizers ! His voice is now much better . And live he is amazing. He is sommething else like the B 52's and adam ant , with there own style of music ... They never boring
His music impacted me at such a young age, and I always loved his music. It was almost like a standard for me to compare other artists of the time. I always felt like his lyrics were incredibly ahead of its time. He is so humble about his talent, its mind blowing.
Been a Huge fan of Gary ever since I first heard "Are Friends Electric". My Girlfriend at the time, and I, were actually standing just in front of Gemma when Gary played at the V96 festival in Chelmsford. I didn't even recognise her. My Girlfriend pointed it out to me. It may have been a long and hard journey. But to survive in the music business for so long you do indeed have a remarkable talent.
Gary helped form my early life. I attended a private boys college and a friend introduced me to what was then called New Wave, but when I heard Gary Newman my thoughts changed. I was a guitarist at the time and I saved and bought a synthesizer. I played Cars all the time!
I’m a 60-year-old white guy from Montgomery, Alabama, and I grew up to rock music way before the appearance of disco, and eventually, MTV. When this Gary Nueman track first hit the radio waves, I was in the 10th grade of high school (1979-80). That specific year was LOADED with rock hits, and this song by Gary Nueman will always have its place in my rock history. Whenever I hear those closing Moog synthesizers at the end, it still gives me such memories of that time and it gives goose bumps. 😁🇺🇸👨🏻🦳🇺🇸🎸🇺🇸🎶🇺🇸🎹🇺🇸🥁🇺🇸
Gary was in a band he went down to a basement there was synth there being in punk band he started playing around with it then that was the turning point and tubeway army came about
We're in the building where they make us grow and I'm frightened by the liquid engineers, like you. I loved Gary Numan, but Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer recorded I Feel Love in 1976 released in 1977, way before "Cars". There was also the German pioneering group KRAFTWERK who Giorgio Moroder said influenced him. There are videos all over RUclips about the song I Feel Love, and it altered the course of music history. The song is still an influene on music, producers, remixers, and DJs. Most recently, Sam Smith recorded the song, and Beyonce sampled it. Deborah Harry/Blondie, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and more, have performed the song. It is etherial and brilliant, and Donna Summer's voice is hypnotic and sensual and strong. I think, with I Feel Love, the vocals are part of the music, not more important, not less. Vocals and Music treated as equals, musically speaking, on the control board and recording the final project onto the Masters. Gary Numan, along with a lot of other people and groups who got to play early on with this new technology, and even the recording capabilities exceled around this tune too, which allowed for recordings that were rich and had depth of sound, and you could feel the music.
Superb writer. I have his songs on quite a few of my playlists. Unique to the core, with a beautifully melancholic and dark twist. I realise people are surprised to hear Numan mention that he believes he's not talented, but it's likely how he feels within himself. Remember, he's the only one who gets to spend every waking hour around himself. As music fans, we merely listen to the end product and thoroughly enjoy it. Or we go to shows and see the crescendo of all the blood, sweat and tears. The view Numan has of himself where talent is concerned is inaccurate in my opinion, but his reasons for coming to this conclusion are likely as valid as you will find. A lot of musicians have a pretty low opinion of themselves and value other artists more. It's far more common than one might think.
Don't matter what you have if you have love you have everything but abit of cash helps. Loved your music back then and love it live now I wish you both the best of luck keep it coming mate.
Leicester De Montfort Hall with Tik and Tok. Remember that one Gary best gig of my life. I remember the lights dropping down into the audience and Tik and Tok,s robotics were amazing.
I remember every Saturday a large group of us used to go down to the T.V studio in Birmingham to see if we could meet our favourite musicians that had just appeared on a morning show. 99% of the time the "stars" were friendly and happy to chat with us. but not Gary Numan, no one was disrespectful or pushy, yet we were shoved out of the way by Gary's entourage and shouted at to "back off," even though we were keeping our distance. He was surrounded by goodness knows who and bungled into a car which drove away at speed. None of us respected hm after that.
Love this man ́s attitude and his music since 1985. Went from Spain to Holland to see his concert in Tivoli- Utrecht. About 300 persons in the venue. Clearly that the Dutch appreciate simple, one-dimensional songs by third-rate artists more than the music of this musical icon.
The caption on this video says something about his crippling debt.. Perhaps if you moved out of a castle in, LA. I'm just saying, cut a few corners. It's hard to live a certain life style when the check stop coming in.
They seem a really good match and support one another. Marrige, make the right the right chocise and it will keep reinforcing itself, you end up pulling the same face expressions, joke voices and so on. I bet his wife is a schrewd business advisor as well as beingn fun. Like the honest real accents. Proper real people.
Mr.Gary- Please understand there're LITERALLY millions of us who will forever appreciate you.
Gary Numan is a criminally underrated musician. Just saw him live for my first time last night! A phenomenal show, a phenomenal musician and pioneer
Agreed. Saw him on this same 2024 tour, likely a week before you did. It was awesome.
Saw him in eventim london brilliant.❤
and that terrible hairpiece always makes me laugh 😁
My wife did not believe it was him when he came out singing with all his moves on the stage.
She had me second guessing myself.
First time for me .saw him in Leeds always been a fan from beginning but he was fantastic. I will see him again ❤
Gary and Gemma. Two fantastic normal people, who seem to be lucky together.and gary´s musical talent is outstanding
What!!? Never felt talented... That guy is a GENIUS..! Raw, uncensored, dark, and serious. Nothing ive ever heard hits as hard as some of Garys songs. Blew my mind 😳
That's the flip side of the Dunning-Kruger effect: Really gifted and accomplished people often underestimate their own talent.
There was a small bunch of misfits in my Massachusetts suburb that enjoyed his music so much. Then 30 years later he played live and my wife and I really enjoyed the show. 30 years + of music that delivers
I’m in mass too. Grew up on south shore. I hung out with the cool kids in high school. Gary numan was definitely on the CD player
He has a very loyal fanbase and is an exceptionally lovely person. I've been a fan since I was 14 and am now nearly 60. Adore the guy.
Been a fan since 78.
Cars came out when I was just 15 years young. I loved that song.
I played it over and over and over again and again. Don't Stop Gary.
You are too far ahead of your time...
I grew up with Gary's music. Awesome to both of them.
In Cars 🚗 🎶🎶🎶
@@johnf6687 If one song could change my life I would write it.
I saw Gary Numan perform several times with Tubeway Army in Hammersmith in the 70s/80s and he was absolutely brilliant.
Are Friends Electric is the only song that had me immediately ringing the radio station asking who that was
Lovely man, lovely family. I wish all the best to him and his girls
What a well grounded nice guy and saying he’s humble is an understatement, I grew up on his late 70’s music Gary Numan is super talented whether he thinks so or not !

Wonderful people to see them so much happy . So much talent.

He’s really matured as an artist
Gary's music came up in my RUclips feed about 10 years ago and started playing next song in rotation automatically I thought who is this guy sounds wonderfully great been a huge fan ever since.
He made a difference in music ! That will be known , even when he's gone . Much respect to him .....

Gary numan and his family are amazing.

Gary Numan! Such an amazing talent here!Such a unique sound! He literally started the synth music for the 80s IMO
Numan comes across as pretty likable and down to earth in every interview I have seen.
It's amazing to me discovering his music and finding out how much better he has gotten with it.
I grew up in the 50's and I live for music, it's the language of the Universe. When the song "Cars" came out I knew it was a song that would be played well into the future. Thanks Gary for adding this song to the Universe.
My first record I bought as a kid was the 45 of Cars/ Metal. It changed my life

Beautiful couple and Gemma is absolutely stunning ❤

Great interview.
He is such a treasure. And so underrated..
This interview sounds pretty harsh with the questions they asked but it was clear that these were the right questions. Great interview, great people.
Whoa, the newscasters aren't in the same place as each other!
He looks fabulous.
I mean... he's wearing the most obvious wig of all time.

garys music crosses time barriers and never goes out of style 😀❤

Numan Introductions was a success!
He is just fantastic ❤
The truth sets them free. Wonderful honesty 😊❤
Gary is peter pan. What a love story. Gary is as or better today as he was in1978. Thank you Gary and Gemma
I read his book and I recommend it to everyone.
Gary Numan is a Legend and still as good as
What a fantastic couple and great talent
He composed two fantastic songs, "cars" and "are friends electric", and that was it, man. What a bizarre case. Just two friggin songs.
God bless mr. Gary...from Chihuahua Mexico...
Gary and I are the same age, 66. We're good.
Love him. Tubeway Army❤
Mr Gary numan. I think you are more than capable of doing movie soundtracks like James bond. Amazing music Mr Gary numan.
he wears the loveliest wig 🤩

I sort of like this type of music there I have a few of his albums and I like the way he looked and kept himself😊
I owe so much to this man’s music.

Much respect with Gary Numan
I don't know if it's just me but I can't see any similarities in Gary's looks today vs young in the 80s, and that's not common at all
