- This video is for the Easy to make Sunny Day Shell Afghan. Let me show you step by step how to make this beautiful afghan.
The yarn that was used for this design was a limited edition yarn and is complete sold out and is gone. I have listed some other yarns you may enjoy trying for this pattern. I have links below where you can view the different yarns.
To purchase the Written PDF Pattern click here: creativegrandm...
The afghan is a wide afghan measuring 56 inches wide by 62 inches long.
Afghan can be made smaller so you can use less yarn.
Use the stitch multiple of 4 plus 2.
Ideas for substitute yarn you may be interested in using.
Lion Brand Mandala Ombre, this is the closest yarn to the one I used.
To make the same size you would need 13 skeins.
Premier Puzzle Yarn, this is also a beautiful yarn to use, click here
bit.ly/2S967DF
To make the same size you would need 14 skeins.
Red Heart Ombre, this is a little thinner yarn, you would have to drop your hook size down to a size I-9 (5.5 mm) hook the afghan would be slightly smaller. Click here: www.joann.com/...
This yarn is also available at walmart and most craft stores. y
You would need 9 skeins.
I always suggest if your not sure about the colorway or the yarn order 1 skein and work up a sample to see if your going to like it before purchasing the required amount of yarn. That is a lot of yarn to buy for a project this size and then not like it.

Hello Creative Grandma! I'm a big fan of your channel! I'm so happy how detailed you made the instructions for this Afghan! You made sure everyone could follow the pattern in the way you mentioned where to put the stitches and slowed it down so it was easy to follow. That'd what I've learned about being a crocheted. Patience is key! Be patient and let the project flow and relax and enjoy it. You may be tempted to rush because you want a project fast, but you have to pace yourself and slow it down. That's a lesson I'm still getting used to. LOL! I love your channel. Keep the awesome projects and giveaways coming!
I am so happy that I found your tutorials. I have learned so many new patterns and stitches and having so much fun trying all of them. You are a great teacher thank you so much.
This is a very pretty pattern. I think it would be nice made with Mandala.
Thanks Glenda!!
Company's are dumb to quit making a color that is a favorite. This is a beautiful pattern and I love it.
I like this color of the yarn I just got some of it on clearance at Michaels about 2 months ago but I didn’t see this color or I would have gotten some since purple and yellow are my favorite colors
I love the look the texture gives this blanket ❤️
Very pretty.
Have a great Mother’s Day weekend. 🌸🌸

Thank you so much for this beautiful pattern. Because of your videos I have learnt to crochet. Something I had always wanted to learn. So during our lockdown, I did it. I'm actually quite proud of myself. My poor hubby might not be as happy because I have a new addiction and have so much yarn. This is my next project and I can't wait. So again, thankyou
This is a very pretty blanket/afghan. Thanks for sharing it with your subscribers. 😇
That is a really beautiful afghan, thank you for sharing this pattern with us.
This is one of my very favorite stitch patterns. I have been working on a huge blanket for the past year, for a wedding/Christmas gift for my niece, using this stitch pattern from your stitch of the week video.
I found the yarn at my local Michaels store in Calgary Alberta Canada and I bought 3 skeins and they had some really nice colours. thanks for the pattern, ( Calgary is north of Montana just so you knew where it was compared to your state, Have a happy mother's day and stay safe, We are in lockdown, but we are able to go to the stores this is going to be my last trip for about 3 weeks, Staying home to crochet
I’m not finding in my Michael’s in Georgia or online in the states but is online for Michael’s Canada but I’m sure shipping is expensive to the states.
@@kimwhidby3858 Yarn does cost more in Canada and when I order online I pay Canadian dollars and it is expensive, we don't get the good deals that you get sometimes, but I love to crochet so I get what I need, Have a great day, Be safe. I want to visit Georgia someday,
@@ljpatterson1 I would love to visit Alberta. I watch Heartland & have fallen in love with the beautiful country side
@@kimwhidby3858 They film Heartland close to the city that I live in and it is one of my favourite shows to watch. I often recognized the places where they are filming,
@@kimwhidby3858 I can get shipping from the states it cost me about 15.00 dollars Canadian, so it should be reasonable for you to order, and with the exchange on the dollar it should be reasonable,
I love listening to you explaining different yarns, you give so much loving information and you're so calming. I let your videos just run one after another 💞
That is simply gorgeous! Thank you for yarn substitution suggestions!
beautiful blanket Glenda. Love that stitch and yarn.
This yarn finally came back and I ordered some. Now I will get to make this beautiful blanket. Just could never get the look I wanted with the other substitutes! So excited!!!
Hi Glenda, you’ve designed another beautiful Afghan ❣️🤩. Thanks for showing yarn substitutions at the beginning and I’m glad you showed Puzzle yarn as it’s one of my favorites! This would be great on my bed for the summer 😘🤗
Beautiful afghan Thanks for sharing Glenda
I absolutely love your blanket. You do such beautiful work. And you teach so well. Thank you 😊
Love, love, love the Puzzle yarn!
I’ve also worked with the Lion Brand Mandala Ombré and I loved the softness of it.
Beautiful
Thank you for telling and showing beginners where to place stitch markers!! The yarn is beautiful. It’s to bad that they don’t have it anymore. 🌺
Very pretty going to make this for sure.😊🙌 thank you creative grandma.
Love this stitch. To bad they discontinued the yarn but if a lot of people like it maybe they will bring it back. Thank you for the tutorial. So very pretty!🤩
Hi glenda, thank you for the video and blanket with beautiful colors. Lorna h.
Oh Glenda your blankets are always so so beautiful and creative. The yarn and colors are beautiful.
Hi I like the way you teach how to crochet the patterns. When I learn my mom taught me and it was kind of hard . She was right hand and I am left hand so I learned to crochet right hand.. I hope you keep up the patterns for younger people to learn patterns. Karen
Beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. Have to watch again.
Hello Glenda I Love this 💕🙏🏻🌹 Thank you

That yarn is beautiful. I love the Mandala ombre’s also.
This is a beautiful pattern and would have loved to get this yarn to make it with.
Thank you for the substitution ideas, I will use one of those for sure
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!
Beautiful stitch. Love the texture.
I like it!
Yay!!!! I can start my blanket, thank you sooo much ❣️. And I agree with you about this yarn 🧶 one of my favorites and it’s a shame they discontinued it, I’m gonna bug them to bring it back.
Really loved your yarn suggestions for this pattern. I too love Premier Puzzle yarns and the Cats Cradle is working up beautifully! Valuable tip for this yarn!! Thank you!
Just started to crochet. You make it so easy to follow you.
I hope I can make this afghan. I can follow all the stitches my problem is when I make my chains and I get to the end I have chains missing.
It's really beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to do a tutorial. I pray you are feeling better and stronger with each passing day. I also wanted to say I saw the video where you tallked about cutting your hair. I think you have such beautiful hair. Mine is an inch or two shorter than yours and a little whiter. I just got my past covid-19 haircut. It had gotten down to my waist. So, it's a big change for me but I'm getting used to it. Take care my friend, God bless and stay safe. Jan
Glenda this is such a pretty blanket, love the colors and that stitch!
Hi Glenda! I fell in love with your summer rose afghan, but because I can't get lion brand yarn here in Italy, I'm gonna try to do something similar, inspired by that afghan! Your work is stunning, and you explain so well all the steps!😍
Thank You Agnes, have fun making your afghan, would love to see your afghan when you get it done.
Beautiful!
Another beautiful Afghan. Off to find some yarn
Thank you
Have been waiting for this video
Love the look
Lots of us in my area have this from Michael’s clearance… thanks
Really beautiful Glenda
I just bought 5 of taffy color for 5.99 piece today. Limited skeins at Michaels
This is so beautiful 💕
We have it at JoAnns in Fargo, ND
So pretty! Thicker 4 works up faster also! Lol
Beautiful colors and design. Can't wait to see other possible replacement yarns. I backed up the tutorial 4 times but didn't catch the color of Red Heart.
I love the Mandela yarn and get it a lot cheaper at Wal-Mart and don't have shipping if you get it in store. They don't always have a large selection though.
Love that!
this is beautiful!
Beautiful 🥰
My sister sundowns, there are lights that can help.
Yayyy, I have my ice cream roving yarn waiting for this. Thank you so much Glenda so excited to get started. 💖😀
I am so happy you ordered it early as I did not think it would sell out so fast. Yayy you got yours!!
@@CreativeGrandma I didn't think it would either, hopefully they bring it back again one day 🤞😀
I forget the name of the color and brand I'm using but it is an ombre yarn with a beautiful blend of dark and light blues, a light sand color brown and whites and beiges. The colors are blending beautifully in the project so far! It looks amazing!
Amazon in Australia is still selling the Ice Cream Yarn, various colours, around $54.00 for three balls
Such a beautiful pattern and THAT YARN!
Why do they take away the good stuff?!
I agree, limited time yarns are frustrating if you start a project and need more yarn and it is not available, what do you do.
Michaels is still selling the yarn for 6.99. I only brought seven hoping to maker a smaller afghan, is 7 okay.
Nice but pls tell me how many chains do we have to crochet
You can find Ombre at Wal-Mart for cheaper, if you live near one.
I am retrying to find the ice cream roving yarn. I find in on the Michael’s website in Canada. I’m sure shipping would be outrageous. I don’t see availability on the Michael’s here in the states. Lion Brand website is out of stock. Any idea where to find this beautiful yarn!!
Can't you use other colors. And different yarns to. What size hook do you use.
Lovely blanket shame that yarn is discontinued
Amazon still Ice Cream Roving yarn. They are out of the color she used. And lots of other colors.
How did you find on Amazon? My search is not finding any on Amazon. I’m only finding on Michael’s Canada website.
Oh Glenda this stitch looks so interesting, I've never done posts like this. I can't wait to save money for yarn. In Australia our common or most used is 8 ply, can I use it. Have you ever purchased our ply yarn? Shipping from USA is ridiculous I can't afford it.
I think all international shipping is extremely high, I am not familiar with 8-ply so I am not sure how it would work up. Sorry I will have to see if I can look 8-ply up and what to compare it to
So you can't give us the multiples of base chains?
Bugger.
