However, unlike last year when we heavily relied on municipal water, we decided to install a rainwater harvesting system before the monsoon season. I purchased one that is suitable for the size of my terrace, and so far, the results have been superb.

    *What is the actual problem?*
*Actual problem is that the soil has less organic content and less vegetation.Hence the soil is unable to hold or absorb rain water. That is why rain water becomes flood and it ultimately flows to the sea and the ocean once again!!!*
*We have only and only one solution and that is to "make farmers move from Agriculture to Tree Based Agriculture". Also a lot of trees need to be planted near the river so that rain water is absorbed and it will directly feed the river.*

This is one way yes, but actually not necessary for Bengaluru.
The actual water problem is in areas which do not have Kaveri water supply to homes, that is outer Bengaluru and not "proper" Bengaluru so as to say.
Also the three easy and highly necessary solutions are,
    1. Rainwater harvesting (Bluru recieves 15 to 20 tmc rainfall every year, enough for another 4 years for Bluru even if it doesn't recieve a single drop of rain, if stored).
    2. Reviving lakes, Bengaluru's founder before starting to build the city was advised by his mother to build as many lakes as possible so that the residents don't face water problems, promptly Naduprabhu Kempegowda built a 1000 lakes and Bengaluru became known as the city of a 1000 lakes but in the past 50 years , ppl have literally killed lakes and filled them and constructed apartments, colonies etc over them, these lakes need to be revived.
Bluru has around 247 wards iirc, so each ward will get 3 to 5 lakes!! If all lakes are revived.
If this is done, Bluru won't even require Kaveri water from KRS dam.
    3. Deconcretisation, somehow, they see the need to cover up every inch of land with concrete or tar, this prevents rain water from seeping in, which has caused depletion in underground water table, hence today many borewells have run empty. Also if rainwater harvesting is done there would be no need for borewells..
If I as an ordinary citizen can come up with this much, I don't know what all the "experts" are doing🤷‍♂️

This is great ... create a problem .. find a solution to that problem .. make money doing it ... perfect capitalism. Shouldn't the solution be to work on the ground water level , water conservation, protecting the environment , biodiversity, and helping the rivers and streems that provide water to get replinished . I love a good startup story ... but this isn't a solution .. this is a bandage at best . The solution to water shortage is in policy, not startup initiatives ... people need to wake up ... participate in local activism or politics or governance and create solutions there.

Instead of spending crores of money by converting poop to drinkable water, Why don't we can restore our lakes, pond and save rainwater through Rain Water Harvesting and by increasing our Ground Water, By doing above we don't need to spend that much crores of money, our Govt need to do Action That's it 😢
