my favourite part of this is when the casket was closing Caitlyn was not only on the verge of breaking into tears but she was also inching her head to see her mother's face a little more before she couldn't see her again
What a gut punch of a scene. These two clashed in just about every scene they shared, never able to see eye-to-eye. And now with Cassandra dead, Caitlyn will never have another chance to bridge the gap with her mother. So many things left unsaid...
Cassandra actually arranged a council audience for Caitlyn and Vi at the end of S1; the first time she seemed to show some belief in Caitlyn. The fact that she left the key to her in S2 and the letter we heard confirmed it...she had always believed in her.
@@Here4Hummus Its even sadder that its implied she voted for the council to let Zaun be independent because she was thinking of Caitlyn. This song hits so differently when you understand the weight of Caitlyn’s loss. It’s not just her mother she’s grieving, but the collapse of everything she believed in-her dream of bridging Piltover’s elitism with a more just, peaceful future. it feels already nostalgic to me. Like for real... sometimes I can't even listen to the songs cause they rip me heart open. And sadly the ending didn't really feel like a ending and so it feels as if we are still waiting for something that may never come qq
To be fair, that's one of the reason that Arcane has such weight. They don't really shy away from things taking turns for the worse. It makes everything so much more visceral, because there's consequences that can cause pain and suffering. The contrast to the beautiful scenes is also much stronger this way.
It's hard to believe how human these animated characters look and act and feel, no other animation studio I've ever seen did so much with the eyes and micro facial expressions. It's so amazing
Imagine having this many people on a project, just crushing it. From music, voice actors, animators, lighters, writers - i have to assume even the person they sent out to get coffee rescued 5 kittens and a puppy on their way back to the studio.
This absolutely DESTROYED me. Having lost my own mother unjustly, I had a meltdown during this scene/song. Hearing it again and I'm sobbing. Just...god my heart hurts...
Bruh when she tried to catch a couple more glimpses of her mom's face as her coffin closed, just hurt, along with this beautiful ost, really pulled the heart strings a little too hard 😭

Haven't cried in a long time, I'm in a stage in my life where things feel rather cold. This song and scene set everything in on fire, what a unreal sensation to feel from a motion picture.
It's so heartbreaking that Cait is the only one who didn't cry at her mother's funeral. She never cried. Until she found a safe pace in Vi's arms. Jesus. 😭
I couldn't shed a tear when I saw my dad in his casket. It felt unreal, to know that your best friend is leaving you forever. It hit me much later like a tsunami I couldn't stop....
it might sound crazy but seeing death in real life is nothing like in the movies (this episode being the exception) there's only emptiness and no matter how much you try to find that feeling life just keeps going
Being a Kiramman could also be a factor of her not crying. When she was about to cry in one scene, we can see her seeing an officer looking at her. So she composes herself, to avoid tearing up in front of them.
Of all the experiences in my life, losing my mother was the worst. An elderly friend was visiting me after and she said, from her own experience, “you will never stop missing her”. And I could see it in her eyes that she was still heartbroken. Beautiful song.
Caitlyn looking at her mother for the last time before her casket closing really hit the feels for me, when i couldn’t bear to look at my father or kiss his forehead knowing it would be the last time looking at him in his casket🥲😭 Arcane this season gonna be heart wrenching❤️🩹

This episode awakened feelings in me that I didn't know were still there. I think in ten years, I'll look back on Arcane as one of the few pieces of art that changed me as a person.
This show really had no business being this good. This scene with the music, the art, the color, the details on the coffin, VI hanging out in the background
It's been 3 weeks and yet: I come here to listen to this beatiful song and tear up. It's just heartbreaking, and even more for every daughter who's had/has a complicated relationship with her mother.
I recognized instantly the artist: Freya Ridings, i remember her song "Lost Without You" a couple of years back. That woman must have been through a couple of very intense separations in her life, she narrates her emotions so freaking well. Arcane season two is pretty dang good so far ❤
This scene had so much impact over me. The way they portrayed death and grieving. Caitlyn losing her mother, her losing the opportunity to talk with her and work things out. Caitlyn blocks everything out due to grief, the surroundings being colorless, and it doesn't have that much detail to it. The only thing Caitlyn notices are her mother, the violets, and Vi. Vi can be seen in a far corner overlooking everything, and giving Caitlyn room to process her emotions, but staying close enough to still watch over her. The Violets stand out because violet petals surrounded the area her and her mother would go to when they needed space.
I lost my mother last year. Partly due to the negligence from the health care system. She could have been alive to this day, if only she had gotten the help earlier, when we where asking for it. But it took the system 11 days to react. And my father only told me about it, two days before she died, that there was something wrong with my mother. So I didn't even knew that she needed help/healthcare before it was too late. Prior to the incidence, some years ago, my mother had been in the same situation, and received help within a week. Which saved her life back then. But we weren't taken seriously this time, and when she finally got hospitalized it was too late, and she died after one and a half day, all alone. Just one day before my parent's 50 years of anniversary, and one year before her 80'th birthday. We visited her the day after she was hospitalized, on the day before my parents anniversary, and planned to visit again the day after to celebrate their anniversary. But later that day in the evening, she died all alone. We believed that, now that she had been hospitalized, that there would be hope, and that they could help her. So we where shocked by the news later that evening. Life is so precious! And even though it may not seem so, because of different struggles in life, every day on earth is truly a gift. Because before we know it. It may be over... I wish you all, all well and hope for brighter days, and precious time with yourselves and your family / loved ones.❤
Starting season two with this emotional heartbreaking masterpiece, that felt so good and so sad at the same time what an honor to be a part of it. Thank you ❤
This became my favorite scene in the show within an instant. The choice to surround the area with a pencil-drawn, dull visual was the best thing they could have done. The only vibrancy, the only real parts of that scenario for Cait was her, her mom, and Vi. All other surroundings were nullified into dull, void of color blurs. Absolutely incredible art direction. Speaking from experience, thats exactly how an experience such as that feels
I watched this and thought of my mother, who passed last year from her 7 year long battle with lung cancer. She and I didn't see eye to eye, but when she was dying and I spent time with her, we made peace. Now both my parents are gone. I miss her so much...
I knew from the minute I heard the first lyrics of this that it was Freya Ridings, she has always had such a distinctive voice and I'm so happy it was her singing. Love her and this show
I almost never cry at media, but Season 1 got me. When this scene came on, I literally shouted, "You are NOT about to make me cry in the first 5 minutes of Season 2, Arcane!!!" And then Cait's face when she tried to catch one more glimpse before the casket closed destroyed me 😭 Adore this song!
A year ago, I was telling my brother, that Freya's song Waking up, is such a good song and would fit in Arcane series so well. And now! SHE IS HERE! Im so happy and also crying my eyes out hearing this song in such a powerfull and sad scene.
I have been waiting for this season for a very long time and while waiting my mother sadly passed away unexpectedly. This song and scene hit extremely hard. It perfectly explains how loosing a parent suddenly feels and this had me in tears from not only the pain i felt myself when my mother passed but because i could truly relate to caitlyn and how it does feel as if you are drowning when a parent is lost. Beautiful thank you to everyone who made this show its stunning.
Wow… the shear punch in the gut when you remember season one ended with “What could have been” and coming to this. So much of the same vibe but from what a different perspective. From Jinx/Powders perspective as to why thing turn out how they did. All the pain, anger, and hurt she felt. To the grief that Caitlyn is trying to hard to hide. How she was right there and in the end couldn’t stop things from happening. A flat out master class of story telling as far as I am concerned.
Sad, deep, heartbreaking, nostalgic, desperate, magnificent, breathtaking, bitter, painful, terrifying, gorgeous All these words describe this beautiful song 10/10 😢❤
This song destroyed what's left of me, rest in peace my grandmom, you were our protector for me and mom, we have now no one , you were everything to us 💔
Damn this song along with the scene hit me hard cause i lost my father one month ago and images from the funeral came to my head,it's hard to watch for a last time your loved ones that are gone..to say goodbye and move on..
I don't think I've ever watched a show that has emotionally touched me the way arcane has. Everything about it is so dear to me in a way that is so intimate, this is the best show in the world to me.
this song is such a gut-punch fr. freya did an INCREDIBLE job with the vocals, and the lyricism? unbelievable. it /feels/ exactly like grief. it comes in waves and some hit harder and some feel like white noise. but grief aches, and the song makes you feel so sad the entire time. such an incredible song.
is it arcane? No, it is pure art! art is the breath of the soul." Those who fail to grasp the essence of art are mere shadows, wasting even the air they breathe-a fleeting whisper in a world that should hold no space for those blind to beauty’s infinite light.
I attended the funeral of a mother of three some time ago. The oldest was only around 16 years old. She had died of cancer. It was the most heartbreaking thing i have ever experienced. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose my mother at that age. This song takes me right back to that moment.
There is something otherworldly about this song. It has that godlike quality and makes me feel so good. It completely transports me into a moment of reflection of the past and dreams of the future where time is slowed. The vocals are godlike and the instruments used are the essence of perfection. The piano is so powerful. The string instrument are soul lifting. This is 2 minutes and 41 seconds of perfection. This song brings me so many emotions all at once or throughout the song: joy, sadness, hope, happiness, love, warmth, power, sympathy and empathy. Freya, you are one of a kind. Thank you for creating this masterpiece for me (and everyone else) to enjoy for the rest of my life.
Hearing the song makes me cry. Hearing the song with a still image like this one makes me sob. Watching the whole scene from episode 1 with this song makes full on ugly cry with snot and tears running down my face and sobs wracking throughout my body.
This is easily the best song of Act 1 for me. Ashes and Blood is close. This song carries so much emotion and the sequence in the show was excellently done.
What really got me in this scene was seeing how devastated Tobias (the dad) was and what that will also mean for Caitlyn, he seemed to be the more emotional anchor for her but now he seems far to heartbroken to do so, and who can blame him to lose you soulmate so abruptly like that, the grief could crush anyone

This song.. it brings tears to my eyes.
🫶🫶🫶
Started crying the first fucking minutes of episode 1
hhahahahaha SOOOOOOOOOOOOO ME! u r not alone, believe me 😢
This scene had so much impact over me.
I'm so happy Freya is part of this season's ost. Her voice is so beautiful! We really can feel all the emotions !
thank you Sara, that means so much! ♥
Almost started to cry... holy. Freya's voice and the Hans Zimmer vibe with the music, perfect.
Ahhh you predicted it Jan - thank you so much for your support! 🥰
Sad, deep, heartbreaking, nostalgic, desperate, magnificent, breathtaking, bitter, painful, terrifying, gorgeous
All these words describe this beautiful song 10/10 😢❤
There are those songs that immediately transport you back to that moment in time........this is one of them
Thank you so much! 🥲✨
For real this song is perfect, just like the show 🥰
Thank you - it was such an honour to sing on the track! ❤💙
Literally had this song on repeat and I definitely have cried a few times. Freya has such a gorgeous voice 🤍
Thank you, that means so much! 🥲😍🙌
The relationship between Cait and her mother reflects the lives of many of us :(
I don't think I've ever watched a show that has emotionally touched me the way arcane has. Everything about it is so dear to me in a way that is so intimate, this is the best show in the world to me.
0:41 💔. Probably my favourite song from Act 1
this song is such a gut-punch fr. freya did an INCREDIBLE job with the vocals, and the lyricism? unbelievable. it /feels/ exactly like grief. it comes in waves and some hit harder and some feel like white noise. but grief aches, and the song makes you feel so sad the entire time. such an incredible song.
I can't stop crying. Thankyou Alex and Freya.
Thank you! 🥲🥰
This whole episode and this song broke my heart 😢😢
Guys. I dont cry. Much. But 7 minutes into the FIRST EPISODE IM BAWLING MY EYES OUT
Every song of Arcane is masterpiece
For one of the first scenes, this hit me so hard I was in floods of tears afterwards. This show is PEAK
"Just tell me how to keep breathing while pretending I'm not drowning...." - Such a perfect line that perfectly matched the emotions of the show
is it arcane? No, it is pure art! art is the breath of the soul."
Those who fail to grasp the essence of art are mere shadows, wasting even the air they breathe-a fleeting whisper in a world that should hold no space for those blind to beauty’s infinite light.
Such a touching song for this scene... Ughh a masterpiece!❤
omygoshhh this song is just so good it feels unreal. Arcane is definitely my favorite series of all time. the animation is SO GOOD AHH
Thank you so much! ☺️🥲
@FreyaRidingsOfficial 😘🤍
That voice just resonates deep within your soul the instant you hear it!
This soundtrack better win some awards... like for real.
I attended the funeral of a mother of three some time ago. The oldest was only around 16 years old. She had died of cancer. It was the most heartbreaking thing i have ever experienced. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to lose my mother at that age. This song takes me right back to that moment.
This is one of the most beautiful tracks I have ever heard
Soundtracks this season are fire. 🔥
🥰🥰😋💿💿
@FreyaRidingsOfficial Omg Freya responded to me. 🤯😍🥳
You still didn’t heard the line by twenty one pilots
@@iwad4 Do they have a song in Arcane too? 🤯
@@crescent_asuna yeah will drop in the last ep on 23 nov
I’ve suddenly fallen in love with this song...💜
this song had me bawling so bad and it was only a few minutes into ep 1💔
🥲🥲❤🩹❤🩹
All you will hear on the radio will be all the hits from arcane season 2 in next 3 weeks.
I love how the music contributes a lot to help the audience understand what Caitlyn is going through.
Bro... Why is the soundtrack of each episode so far so good. Like wtf
money well spend. God there is still talent out there.
"The grave is silent, you're buried in all the things you never said." - Senna
This is easily the best song of Act 1 for me. Ashes and Blood is close. This song carries so much emotion and the sequence in the show was excellently done.
My dad recently passed away.
The first time I heard this song, it was just a very good, very sad song.
Now... it hits different.
stay strong man, I hope you are doing better now.
so beautiful !!!!!
First minute of the season and the search for the best song is already over for me, what an unbelievably good track.
The strings in 1:19-1:32 get me every time. So beautiful
Sooo BEAUTIFUL, haunting. 😢 Raw emotion and extreme vocal talent/control. Just unreal. 😮
Grief is love with nowhere to go.
The artstyle of this sequence was so breathtaking! The coal animation mixed with the normal style looked absolutely stunning!
Can confirm, this hits even harder after arcane ended
What really got me in this scene was seeing how devastated Tobias (the dad) was and what that will also mean for Caitlyn, he seemed to be the more emotional anchor for her but now he seems far to heartbroken to do so, and who can blame him to lose you soulmate so abruptly like that, the grief could crush anyone
Can't stop the tears
This scene holds our hand as we're introduced again to the series and it softly breaks our hearts. It's beautiful.
Jesus Christ this hits every single memory if loss and brings them all up to now. 😢
