Been playing rock and roll bass since the Dead Sea was only sick. Nearly 55 years. As a kid played through Silvertone (Sears!), Vox & Fender. Grew up and as a pro used Ampeg SVT, SWRs & finally GKs for the last 40 years. Then I watched a recent demo video of this Rumble Stage 800 and went over to the local brick & mortar music store to see if it was on the floor and it was...literally WAS because after exploring it for an hour it was loaded in my car. All 39 pounds. My favorite all time amp tone is the Classic SVT. Nothing comes close to that. Except now AND you can up the ante any which way you like. This amp is everything you can imagine and more and I've never been a fan of Fender bass amps. It's intimidating at first because it is without a doubt very complex if you're not a wire head nor savvy about, ya know, compression, effects, noise gates & blah blah blah. For myself, it's just been an bass, an amp and a cord to connect the two. Not anymore. I've played two gigs with the classic rock trio I'm a member of and last night I had several comments most commonly "WTF are you using to get that tone?!" I pointed to the little black box stage left and said "That."
The only reservation I have is reliability. It's new. And as my old man used to warn..."don't EVER buy a car in it's first model year." I bought a brand new Harley Road King in 2007 and it had a bigger engine and transmission from the previous six years and after riding it for three weeks, I hated it for a variety of reasons and made the dealer take it back and give me back my 2001 HD Softail.
Point is, will this new fangled amp with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 100 presets & 100 empty presets for who-knows-what, be there for the long run. For its size, it has balls as big as church bells and the retail price is astonishingly affordable. And for a man about to turn 66, it's LESS THAN HALF THE WEIGHT of the GK 1001RB 2X10 combo I've busted my balls hauling around for the last 18 years.
Bravo, Fender (for now). Fingers are crossed that it hangs in there for a beatin' or two or three...

Those sound great. I had the 1st gen 75 and 500. Then I got stupid and bought a TC Electronic BG250-12. The toneprint features are interesting and useful at times, but then I bought my oldest son a Rumble 25 to practice with and realized how much I missed that Fender tone and bite. I'm going to have to look at that 800.

Eric Ramseur so do you suggest me to buy this new studio 40 over the tc-electronic? Do you think i can enjoy more the sound of Fender?

Luciano Di Gennaro I can only tell you what I like more. The TC Electronic is great for practice, even with a band. I only play at home these days so the Fender Rumble 40 is the better buy based on sound.

First the BDec30, the Bronco40, and now these. I don't understand why Fender won't make something like the 40 but with some real power for good thump for home and small rooms. I've never been happy with bass amps under a hundred watts. The 800 is a good option if it isn't overkill.
One of these in a head form at 200-400 watts @4 ohms would be sweet.

The Stage 800 is 800 watts with a cab extension. It's only 400 watts with the internal speakers. I bought the Stage 800 last week and I love it so far.

Blues,R&B, and Reggae get no love on most Demos. The round big booty is rarely represented, most of the love goes to the Bassists that play Rock strumming the Bass like a Banjo. I want to hear the Big Fundamental not thine and nasal.

So they are discontinuing the Bronco 40, changing the cosmetics, adding WIFI and re-releasing it as the Rumble 40 "Studio" ... Sad. (golf chapping)

I like the top end, but the bass is a little farty.

Not one tone blew me away. They are trying to cram too much. It is a bass amp. Be great at that one thing. They even manage to mess that up. Really- update what? Wifi, synth, delay. Some corporate types are trying to justify their keep by adding all kinds of cr*p to A BASS AMP. It is a bass man. It is not complicated. BB King did not need all these effects. It borders on insanity to be honest. Even the bass player and people in this video looked wholly uninspired. Stick to Ampeg.

Sounds like a toy. A 40 watt practice amp for three fifty? Nope. Sorry Fender, but the Zoom B3 sounds better.

I heard this being demonstrated at NAMM. Trust me, it is NOT a toy.

Yup I gotta agree. Plenty of options for solid practice boxes at much less.

Glenn Affeld, You're talking the difference between a modeling amp and a modeling pedal, which isn't a fair fight at all. The modeling amp will sound much better than a modeling pedal going direct through a PA. There's no comparison. The amp will sound much better.

    • @thebigitchy
      @thebigitchy 5 лет назад +3

Kinda late, but it should also be said that the amp isn't mic'ed, so what you're getting is the sound of the amp through a cardioid mic held several feet away, and pointed away from the speaker. It's not gonna sound great.

@@thebigitchy Very good point...also, if anyone's ever been to the NAMM conference you'll know that the organizers do not permit for amps or any sound demos to be set loud at the booths...almost at talking level.
