    Well done doc. Rarely doctors do aspiration with ultrasound

    Great USS skills and demonstration of the anatomy. But the procedure can't be sterile without a sheath over the USS probe.

      It can. This is a no touch technique. At no point did anything non sterile touch the injection site once it had been sterilised.

    Great demonstration. However why not leave the needle in and change out the syringe for the steroid/whatever is being injected instead of having to insert a new needle?

      The first needle used to deliver the anaesthetic is too narrow to effectively aspirate the effusion which is a thick and viscous fluid. Therefore a wider bore needle is used for this purpose.
