Thinking about swapping the s65 into an e34 I already have a n62+6 speed manual ready to swap in but this sounds 10 times as fun
I have one of these s82 s65 conversions. They are awesome. But the e82 chassis didn’t get as many lightweight parts as the e9x chassis. So you won’t find much weight saving if any. The e9x chassis has light front wings, alu hood, carbon roof and light bumper carriers etc. e82 chassis did not get any of that. Even the 1m wings and hood are steel. So you might want to weigh both and compare. Of course you can lightweight those components. But I’m just pointing out that the smaller car is not necessarily lighter. 👍👍👍

How serviceable is the v8 in the 1er? Can you get to everything without having to drop it back out if you want to chnge the plugs etc?

No but we have been asked many times. No one has pulled the trigger yet but we can absolutely do it.

The car weighs approx 200kgs less than the M3
I just saw a 1M with 180 original miles selling for $180,000. This guy is brave to do this.
Yeah, with a rare car like this that appreciates in value I’d keep it stock maybe a mild tune

I've been trying to find information about putting an s65 into an e28 BMW. It doesn't appear anyone has posted information about this engine swap, if it has been done. Anybody have an idea of the feasibility of this, and if space permits supercharging it. It would be hilarious if we could manage it.

to be honest this is rather dumb as its such a rare car with VERY few ever made why not just use a standard 135i? you could save a crap ton of cash and it saves this super cool car for someone who actually appreciates it.
is the 1M the only capable 1 series able to take a S65? if so can the other ones be upgraded with 1M parts to take it?
Our customer chose to enhance his 1M with a proper S series engine, being the S65 V8 which is a much more exciting option than the bland N54. We have built quite a few of these now including replica 1M models. It is our opinion that the S65 compliments the 1M and completes the missing piece.
Why a 1M ffs. 🤣 why not a 120d?
