- Our 120i hatch shop car has been a reliable and fun little 4 cyl 6 speed manual combo. But, in this 2 part build series, we take it off the road, strip it out and install a 6L LS V8 engine, demonstrating our swap kit and how you can build one yourself.

I love the fact that you did that to a hatch back. Most people would go for the coupe
I think the hatch is an un-tapped gem. Front engine rear wheel drive practical and nimble. The V8 makes it quite special
I'm very glad I came across this video. I have a 120i with relatively low mileage with a nice set of BMW X5 rims on and sent it in to sort out oil leaks and the estimate was a third of the price that a normal LS swop would cost, so I was hoping it was possible to do it to this car. I'd rather spend money this way!
How big are your rims? 🙏
@@lucajack007 they were 18 inch x5 mags. sitting with 19's on my F30 now though

Question for anyone…what I never understand about LS swaps for late model cars is when you unplug the original engine wiring what do you do with those wires? Do you pull them out at the BMW computer or leave them and hide them? If pulling out how do you know what to take out. Anyways that’s my biggest source of uncertainty when considering a project like this

Talk about wiring, Will you be able to retain AC? Will it have annoying abs/traction control warning lights ? Check engine lights? What ECU will it use?

coming back to this video again since im not sure how else i should keep in contact. anyways i was wondering is the 128 or 135 radiator better for this swap? correct me if im wrong but arent there some minor differences
my friends i have a few questions i have a bmw 1 serie 120i petrol year 2006 e87 model 150hp i only replaced the engine two months ago. there is now 2 tons on the engine. just drive really nice. now the engine is built into it. only brand oil consumption. The mechanic told me that the wrong oil was used by my mechanic. and that now the valve spools and staples are replaced.
First question is, I really like my car to drive. The only downside is that my valve stem needs to be replaced. because it consumes a lot of oil. need to top up oil every week. and also consumes quite a lot of gasoline, he is not the most economical, that may have to do with oil consumption. that it is not economical.
I have seen your video. it motivated me a lot. because my 1 series is a really nice car. he has all options. only it doesn't have a turbo. so I can't get chipped. should be another reason. to make my car faster. Or do I have to change my engine as well? just like you in the video. after I've watched your video, I'm now thinking of putting a BMW 535i or 540i engine in it, is that possible what would something like that cost.? I know there are a lot of things that need to change about the car. but if you are a fan you should talk about it I think. I would like advice on what is the best thing to do. Also what is the proce for building 535i 540i motor in e87 2006 benzine whats the price mine frend.

Yes we have a custom rear end for it using a Nissan R200 diff and billet axles

The TC is part of the ETC.

Can this kit be fitted to 135i with a DCT?
It will fit any E8x or E9x chassis - it is deigned to mount an LS engine and T56 or TR6060 Tremec GM box.

@@BB-tb9ih Sorry your question was ambiguous. Ill clarify what you probably meant: Does the transmission cross member we supply work for a DCT? Obviously not, a GM and DCT box have different mounting points. Can it work? Yes. With a different mount, we also have DCT adapter plates for LS engine.

Why not N54/N55
I don't think you are familiar with the LS V8's, a 6-litre version will make more torque at 1000rpm than any highly strung N54 or 55 and they keep going with just normal (and cheap) regular maintenance.
@@Slaktrax I'm totally new on this but I want to learn. So, for my project do you recommend pick the LS instead of a N55? My car is a 125i coupe.
