Rayudu moved between two proper rivals and is beloved by both sets of fans…that’s quite something.

    Hi Jarrod, great video.
Rayudu did make 600 runs @ 150 SR in 2018 for CSK. However, CSK played just one match at Chepauk that year. Their home games were shifted to Pune because of a political conflict in Chennai, and the wickets offered in Pune were pace and bounce friendly that season.

Selecting Vijay Shankar ahead of Raydu just shows how much politics goes on even within BCCI selection committee. If we had Raydu instead of Vijay Shankar that would definitely have helped win against NZ as he can bat pretty quick when needed but can also defend well

The first time I heard of Rayudu was in 2002. India’s senior team was touring England, and the U-19 team was also touring England at the same time. India’s Test keeper Ajay Ratra had an injury after the third Test, so they replaced him with the U-19 ‘keeper Parthiv Patel, who was around. Parthiv’s spot in the U-19 squad was in turn replenished by the son of our school PT teacher at the time. That’s why I started closely following the U-19 scores. Guess who was the captain and star batter who caught my eye? Ambati Rayudu.
At the time, I was sure he would be the next big thing in Indian cricket!

I remember watching that Under 19 world cup all those years ago as a kid. Leading up to the tournament I remember hearing Rayudu was the big name batsman, but it was Dhawan I was most impressed up. I remember Dhawan almost single-handedly winning that game against South Africa before he got tired.

This was the 2004 U19 WC, where Rayudu, Dhawan, DK, Raina, Uthappa, RP Singh et al. were all there. Rayudu was playing U-19 cricket even back in 2002, when Irfan Pathan was around the circuit.

@@sushreyomisra3261 Yes, that's very true, as Jarred mentioned. I was referring to when I first heard of Rayudu back in the U19 World cup. He was the biggest name and was known before the tournament, but it was Dhawan who imo impressed the most. As it turned out, Dhawan also went on to have the far more impressive international career.

And where is this 3 dimensional player now? Seriously, the reason we havent won an ICC trophy in over a decade is due to these biased selectors. "Oh yeah, Sky is the best t20 player. 50 overs is like 20 overs, if you add 30 overs to it. Lets pick him, despite the fact that he only averages about 25 in ODIs." Thats our best pick for the world cup: A guy who isnt exactly known to be a good ODI player. Its worse because i remember him going for a series of ducks against Australia and it affected his t20 performance briefly too.

Hi . Can you make a video on ruturaj gaikwad being under utilized by Indian team ? I think India is not thinking beyond gill and jaiswal for t20 world cup. Rutu has better stats and experience than both of them in t20's in international level & domestic including Ipl over the last 3 years. As of now, 2nd position in orange cap as well

Some experts said that he would be the next Sachin Tendulkar! It's not right to compare any young Indian cricketer with the great man but it surely got some of the experts excited about this young talent.

Good or bad, there are so many lessons to be learnt for cricket boards on the Ambati Rayudu story. Every country has these so called "Difficult" players. Kevin Peterson & Andrew Symonds are examples. But it is the job of cricket boards to learn how best to extract every drop of talent from these players, otherwise to be honest, it is the countries who miss out on these talents that are the biggest losers.

I think you should know Hyderabad Ranji team is known to be corrupt. Shiv pal yadav is not liked much. Hyderabad and Andhra politics always spill over into the cricket. It's a shit show. Trust me it's not playing for these teams and political influence gets a lot people into these teams.
