  • With 8 days till the arrival of our students in Paris, we're cleaning and finishing up several projects. As the video progresses you can hear the exhaustion in our voices, (how's that for a sales pitch). 2 more ceilings repaired, a new Armoire for our books, a look at the garden, and some great drone shots.

The yellow rose with the pink outer edge in australia are called peace roses. They climb over my terrace frame and are stunning. They were my poppas favourite rose and one is planted next to his plaque at the cemetery. Your roses are looking beautiful.

I grew up on a farm, have lived on a farm all my life. The "No shoes in the House" rule has been enforced every place I've lived.
Never second guess your decisions, never apologize for mistakes! You are paying the bills, the buck stops at you.
The damp sand should pack very nicely.

Rob and Lesley, the Château is really shaping up nicely.
Rob, the resource library is great. I love the armoire.
Something to consider in the future... Tufo stone, as you've noticed, is quite soft. That's a curse and a blessing. It makes many parts of your home relatively easy to replace. I'm not talking DIY. France has programs in their schools to teach students trades. With 30K Châteaux in France, there's work to be had for those willing to work with their hands. It pays pretty good too. Some schools work with local châtelains to train students and restore Châteaux at the same time. Yours just happens to be more ornate than most, making it ideal for many years of continued student instruction.
    ❤ from TX!

Here's a tip for the stairs.Vinegar or baking soda: These natural cleaners work well to clean cement patios with stubborn charcoal or rust spots. Mix equal parts vinegar and water, scrub the patio with the mixture, then give it a good rinse. If stains don't dissolve, try undiluted vinegar. Please know am praying for you.

I love the “owl protector” hopefully, it will deter the pigeons and they will realized they have been dethroned!! 😂 And like you said Rob, getting the chateau ready for students is one thing. Doing all the rest that needs to be done will take time and of course…$…$$…$$$…$$$$…$$$$$…..depending on the job/supplies. I’m excited for the new group of students. What a memorable trip and studies they will have to take back home. The young ladies that left a letter for the new ones staying in the same room is so sweet!! Your dinner looked amazing!!! 😋🥰💙🐶🍷🙏

Great looking cabinet library! Terrific new use for a beautiful piece. The cellar bakery room is intriguing. You have so many rooms, which gives you options. It will be so much fun for the students to spend time in these very special spaces. Regarding the mess of cleaning (plus, when you have an old house, cleaning usually includes some repairing as well) this is when people who show up early drive me crazy. They ask to help, but I didn't want them to see the mess in the first place and it takes longer to get it all done and put out of sight when I have to answer questions. So much gets done in the last half hour, lol. :D

I grew up in the country. House rule, while growing up, take your shoes off (when you step inside) unless you are coming back from church or something like that. Keep a pair of clean shoes by the door. Seems like your basement exterior door is the perfect place for this. Do you have a mud scraper and door mat?

I want to add the inspiration you both are to all of the viewers..your diligence and devotion to restoration and the goals you've set .. are really coming together ,even with the daily maintenance . I believe it’s decomposed granite or DG not really sand we use it at the ranch too for the roads and driveway parking the key is compaction. It sure looks nice, clean and sharp. Are you sure those aren’t bees? Regardless they need a new home.
The place is really taking sharp and it looks like a big dent in the unpacking as well. 😊

To remove the bees properly, the beekeeper must open the wall to remove the entire colony. If the outside wall is brick, it will require opening the wall from the inside. The bees may be vacuumed up and put in a hive body, or sections of comb may be placed in frames and then placed in a hive.

Friends & family have always called me
    Martha Stewart.
I'm obsessed with my old faithful kitchen tools/pans.
After 17+ years of my husband and I managing a 129 acre Church Youth Camp,
for 379 people, I almost got rid of about 75% of our things.
We were moving from a 9 room home, to alot smaller.
I finally got around to opening all our stored thing's.
🥹MG, so very happy I kept them!
I absolutely down sized, but so many memories are here.
WHY don't you use a tarp or sheet plastic to protect the beautiful floors?
I watch all the Chateau channels.
Wonder if you all use the typical French paint that's breathable bcuz of the exterior stone?
Others have discovered it's the only one that actually stays nice, while protecting the Chateau from moisture.
One of the Chateau have been using an amazing furniture wax that brings back the finish beautifully.
    Protects, looks like new.
Praying for a transformation of the students by Christ's regeneration.
