Exactly..... I was in the Navy from 94 to 98, we used sea chanties for cadence in Bootcamp when marching and when we had menial tasks to do we had a senior chief that would break out into song on some of these. I remember hearing this one and what would you do with a drunken sailor allot....lol
watched some video, he has a lot of subs but im unsure who he was, but he said that this song isnt a sea shanty an amazing song! But not anything like a traditional sea shanty since they are songs to get you to work with a call and return style. Still love this :)

These things, and their role in spreading disease, hadn't been discovered yet. Also, this song was probably never 'written', per se. It was more likely developed as an oral tradition, and embellished over time as it was shared from crew to crew. Then one day someone wrote it down.

I am an American who used to live in Scotland -- not, admittedly, in the Strathclyde area where Nathan is from. I could understand him, but I had a bit of trouble in places.
I`ve seen the original video that is quoted here and OMG it is sooo good ! I don`t have TikTok installed and i don`t want to, cause *everything* there is filmed *vertically* which is quite frankly stupid, but i guess i`m missing some wonderful stuff and amazing voices. I had instant goosebumps when i first watched that video and heard all these voices.

I`ve seen the original video that is quoted here and OMG it is sooo good !
I don`t have TikTok installed and i don`t want to, cause *everything* there is filmed *vertically* which is quite frankly stupid,
but i guess i`m missing some wonderful stuff and amazing voices. I had instant goosebumps when i first watched that video and heard all these voices.
