    I know it isn’t the same as having a metal back, but could you put the old grey back onto the new case rather than the frosted look?
    I’m curious about the phone mounts you used here. This seems like a good use of off the shelf parts for a tenting solution.

    • @heyitspete9890
      @heyitspete9890  Месяц назад

      @@ivanheffner2587 I'd have to mess with her case, possibly cut of some pieces to make it fit, that wouldn't be impossible but I'm looking at other alternatives right now.
      As for the tenting, the magnetic phone stands have been pretty popular in the space lately, that or tripod mounts. These in particular are Ugreen magnetic phone mounts, easy to find on Amazon and not too expensive.

    This is awesome! I’m a big fan of the set up/case before the swap. *Chefs kiss* did you build it or buy it? I want to build one exactly like this. Even down to the key caps!

    • @heyitspete9890
      @heyitspete9890  Месяц назад +1

      @@KestonnRyann I bought the kit from Typeractive and built it. I specifically bought no solder pins since I've never done that before (I'll do it at least once one day to say that I have).
      They keycaps I also bought from typeractive but a couple of places sell them, they go in and out of stock all the time. The only thing not from typeractive are the sunset tactile switches, I got those from lowprokb.ca.
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

      @@heyitspete9890 This is the best build I have ever seen! Really like the colors! Have you bought the case and screen shell from typeractive too? I own a 3D printer, so I thought of saving couple of bucks by printing it myself. And about the keycaps, I assume you have bought two sets of them to have two colors is that right? I cannot see any already mixed one

    • @heyitspete9890
      @heyitspete9890  Месяц назад

      @@jakmazdev pretty much everything from the build came from typeractive except the switches. Originally the gray case and then this blue aluminum case.
      A buddy of mine did exactly what you want to do, he printed his own case, just make sure you have the right dimensions for your PCB, I think there are two different sizes for Chocc (low profile) cornes.
      Typeractive's model is Chocc spaced, other vendors are MX spaced. They still use Chocc switches but the spacing is wider, meaning the PCB and case would need to be longer or shorter depending on the spacing.

    • @heyitspete9890
      @heyitspete9890  Месяц назад

      @@jakmazdev as for the keycaps, the gray ones originally on the board came in a set (EXPENSIVE $85 DX)
      and the blanks were SOOOO much cheaper, I think it may have been like $20 for all the caps I needed on the corne, and I can't feel a different in the weight or material. I would probably avoid the sets if I'm being honest. Both caps are MBK keycaps.

      @@iamzubin hahhaha sorry I was trying to get through some of the more tedious parts faster, while keeping normal speeds for parts I thought were more important. I also tend to listen/watch most videos at 1.25-1.5x speed, it may just make more sense in my head than in the video.

    • @Lazinoch
      @Lazinoch 15 дней назад

      Speeding up the big music while the video was sped up was weird in my opinion too. re-recording or just editing what you spoke at normal speed over the speed up footage might’ve been nice, even though it might’ve been hard to match to the sped up video. Also as someone that will also occasionally watch videos sped up, trying to listen to the sped up section at 1.5x was basically impossible 😅 I appreciate you trying the have the tedious parts finish faster though!

      This came from typeractive, it had minimal assembly compared to some of the other kits out there. Didn't even have to solder, since I bought no solder headers. If you want a fully assembled kit, you can get those from various sites, I always like to refer people to xcmkb.com/
      They build my Sofle split keyboard. I have it as another video on my channel.

      @@kdiaz8054 Sure thing, I'll look into the bottom plate and ordering it. Here's the link to it. More money obvi, but I think the added weight will be worth it. Not to mention, those magnetic rings I got keep falling off.
      I replaced the ones from the video with new ones and let them sit for hours before using the stands, looks like the adhesive wasn't strong enough vs the magnets.
      I trust this seller since I bought my SofleV2 from, been talking to them off and on since.

    wonder how this would sound with some foam 🤔

    • @heyitspete9890
      @heyitspete9890  Месяц назад +1

      Technically there is PE foam in the case, between the switches and the PCB, I have seen someone with a bigger battery add foam to make a little snug compartment for the battery but I don't think it modified the sound too much. TBH I haven't heard a great sounding LP Corne keyboard to date, would like to try a corne with switches from a Lofree board at some point.
      One day I'll build an MX Corne and I'm sure that'll sound much better.

      I have a Sofle V2 that sounds way better than the corne and it's using a plastic case. I think it's a combination of the MX switches and the foam I have in it. Also, I think keyboards like Nuphy and Lofree use a newer chocc v2 style switch or a different style low profile switch that actually still sounds really nice. I keep hearing and seeing videos for Lofree.
