I’m a pretty big wimp when it comes to any kind of adverse conditions on the trail. It usually means I'll be suffering AND I won’t be able to get a video out of the day. I was REALLY concerned when I saw the hazardous wind warning this time around, as the Palm Canyon Epic is 27+ miles with lots of slogs when there’s no headwind. BUT, if the wind was at our back, we could be getting an extra power boost for free. Let’s see what happened!

@CJ Johnson absolutely 💯 is and has been there for about 8 months now..you have to ride the whole trail dude. There's a step up of rocks that starts the jump line and is about a 4ft drop that's send af.

As someone who may or may not work in that general area and who may or may not possess the capacity to handle the issue of criminal activity regarding your break-in concerns, I highly recommend you call/report any suspicious activities even if you don't feel it's necessary. Often times, govt agencies rely on statistics to justify throwing resources at certain problems. With a track record/history of reported break-ins and or suspicious activities, it makes the job much easier to handle business. You can reach out direct if you have any questions.
BTW, my ears perked up at the mention of "dirt bags." LOL Lastly, keep the vids coming. I'm waiting on the my Ripmo AF to come in and it couldn't happen soon enough. I'll be riding this trail by the end of June!!

I rode those trails from the mid 90's to 2007 before moving to San Diego. A lot of those sections have not changed, it was a real trip to call out corners & obstacles before you even got to them, and yes that dry wash coming out of Palm Canyon to Dunn Rd. ( the pain shaker ) is brutal

I remember a few weeks ago I went to ponti ridge in Marin parked by the Burger King next to 101 while I was getting my gear from my passenger side I saw a couple in a truck pull up next to my truck and the women got off and ran to my bike that was just standing behind my truck I poked my head behind my truck and saw her hand on my handle bar and she just said “oh sorry” and ran back to their truck I got the license plate number and reported it to the police hopefully helped someone from getting their bike stolen but I have herd a lot of bikes getting stolen in Marin County in the last couple years and cars getting broken into at trail heads. You should think about putting a recording camera in the back of your van with a smile your on cámara sticker

BKXC, you should get a steering wheel lock and gas siphon blocker for your van. I bet there are numerous ways to make your van 'thief' proof. Of course, they can always bash the window and get in if they want...but you can have various things to be protective. I am sure you are doing some of these.

A major hike in PS is to go from the PS Art Museum up to the top of the Tram and then continue up to the top of San Jacinto. The last time I did it, I arrived at 3AM and saw a lot of glass from the broken-in cars of hikers who started before me. There was a Sierra Club group that left at 12AM. I caught up to them and warned them what to expect when they got back to their cars. The crooks were probably local dirtbag kids who know the owners won't be back for hours.
