    I think he did an exceptional job.

    For some incredible harmonies I'd recommend "How Great Thou Art" and "Auld Lang Syne". Both are 5 part harmonies with no vocal percussion. Both will probably move you to tears.

    The precision of breathing in sync, the lockstep of going from unison, to harmony, back to unison, to harmony, the arrangement where several points the baseline hangs on to notes for extended time while the other parts are coming in stages is so incredible, it just like having the most exquisite high end sweets you can buy. The ear candy this presentation provides is so remarkable that I can not think of another to compare it to. ❣

    They are so incredibly in sync with each other - the on- and off-set's are so clean it sounds like a single multilayered voice. This song showcases it amazingly.
    Another you would have a field day with harmonies is their take on Brothers in Arms - it is mind-blowing for me how "just" 5 voices can produce a sound simmiliar to a pipe-organ.

    So happy RUclips popped your channel up on my recommendations. This and Home Free's rendition of Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms" happen to be my all-time Home Free favorites. "Brothers in Arms", another 5-part harmony that exemplifies the extraordinary talent that is Home Free will shake you to your core. Thank you for an eloquent and insightful reaction, looking forward to more, especially with Home Free.

    This is originally by Crosby, Stills, & Nash, whose first live performance was the original Woodstock. Their songs ALWAYS had incredible harmonies. This is one of my favorites of theirs, the only drawback being that it's way too short, lol. Home Free didn't cover this song; they upgraded it, especially going from 3-part harmony to 5-part. I was so excited when i saw that you reacted to this because i knew it would be a great, joyous video, and you did not disappoint!! I'm glad you like it as much as we do!!

  • @ms.chuckfu1088
    @ms.chuckfu1088 6 месяцев назад +17

    This is a studio recording. As their voices are recorded separately, the producer/mixer can ensure everything exactly matches.
    But there is a version of this song sung live in concert. And yes, they are very much in sync.
    And Tim can hold that note on 'Hello'.

    • @nancyholter5646
      @nancyholter5646 6 месяцев назад +6

      Although the recordings show how good their voices are, it is the ability to do these things live that really show how fantastic they are. And the off-mic performance of How Great in Kearney should be mind-bending for anyone who recognizes how difficult it is. Is it perfect? No. Is it still stupendous, given the conditions? Hell, yes.

    I watch a lot of reactors. I think your reaction to this song is my favorite, probably because it's so relatable. I think I was making the same faces you were the first time I heard this. You probably would really enjoy analyzing their version of "Brothers In Arms." It's even more breathtaking, or equally breathtaking, at the very least. Thank you for reacting to the guys again. They're such wonderful musicians.

    Part of the synchronicity emphasis is the total elimination of vibrato. It keeps the harmony tight, without the embroidery of vibrato. We can hear the voices are hitting notes just perfectly.

    Pure harmony!! I definitely wish the song had lasted longer!! Beatbox or Adam Rupp sings in the song with the group! He also sings with everyone in old Lang Lang!! Another one of your harmonies! How great thou art;… Angels we have heard on high;..Oh Holy Night; & Do you hear what I hea”. Arranged by bearboxer Adam Rupp! Since you also beatbox listen to Adam Rupp’s drum solo! In 9 to 5… All five members a beatboxs together!! Nice reaction again!

I've listened to this probably around 100 times and thought wow he's getting excited 50 seconds in... he hasn't heard anything yet! This is one of the songs they have performed off-mic in concert. They've also done How Great Thou Art and Auld Lang Syne. It really shows how good they are at staying in unison with each other. So glad to see someone like myself who gets so much joy from music. You should check out the original song by the 70's group, Crosby, Stills and Nash. Also, Teach your Children Well is another great song by them. Keep the videos coming!

Chance is the one who recommended/suggested Home Free record this one, and I am so happy they agreed. It’s one of their best. 😂Those unisons are perfection! The harmonies, the timing, and everything is so scrumptious! Lol Would love to see you react to their Dire Straits cover of “Brothers In Arms”, and the great gospel song “How Great Thou Art” is gorgeously done by them, too! Home Free certainly knows ho to harmonize and the amount of precision needed and always executed is astounding.
    Another 5-part harmony is their cover of Brothers in Arms. It's hautingly beautiful.
    I don't think you have reacted to one of their funny videos yet, have you? They have so many, but the music never suffers from their antics. There's their infamous Butts Remix, but also Thank God I'm A Country Boy or All About That Bass. And many, many more.

    I’m so happy you chose this one! In my opinion their 5 part harmonies are unmatched. Just stunning. I too love dissonance and syncopation which is why I love Leonard Bernstein’s music for both West Side Story and Chichester Psalms which I had the honor of performing with the All Eastern Chorus as a soprano in High School. Love your reactions and can’t wait for the next one! Have a great day!

    I grew up listening to Crosby, Stills & Nash & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. Home Free more than does justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. A true masterpiece! I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.

    Love that you loved this! You should listen to the original too. The cut up words were true to that original, but I like Home Free's version way better! I have two suggestions for you! Home Free covering Dire Straights Brothers in Arms. Have tissues! It's powerful and emotional. Also Austin singing solo, Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. That song is also powerful, and the ending is spectacular!

    I really enjoyed your reaction which was both informative and educational. Home Free covers all genres. You can't go wrong with anything they sing. While you're in an a cappella frame of mind, please take some time to check out Pentatonix, VoicePlay and Voctave. You specifically mentioned that you enjoy larger groups. So give a listen to Voctave, an ensemble of 11 performers (no beatboxer) with prior and current connections to Voices of America in Disney's Epcot. To get an idea of their talent, check out their Disney Princess Medley featuring each of the women and then their Disney Heroes and Villains Medley featuring each of the men. They do much more than Disney. Listen to their rendition of Somewhere from West Side Story. There is so much great a cappella out there... happy listening!!!

    Glad to see you going down the rabbit hole ... keep on ... many more magical moments await you!! Yes, these guys are VERY talented. But I get tired of hearing reactors, and others, say "they are so talented." Talent is the foundation, but what makes them world class is their hard work, individually and as a group. And their willingness to put their hearts into each song as they convey emotional messages.
    Related to that topic, let me digress - I fy ou want more magic, chck out Eva Cassisy. Start with Over the Rainbow and Autumn Leaves. I guarantee you will thank me for the suggestion, and will understand why I mention her in comparison to Home Free.
