So I got a deal for a 1000 yards of 150lb white hollow core for 75 bucks and you get none of the color muck and the capacity is good. Splices easy and has given me no issues. The spool was clean and none of the crazy frayed line spots that some people seem to complain about with this brand. Its not Jerry Brown but even at regular prices its a decent option IMO.
@@TeamHardLife it's been a few months. I do land based shark fishing with it on a penn international. Threshers, 7 gill, soupfin, prickly sharks, and the occasional white shark and black sea bass. Got 200lb mono on top. Maybe 50 yards. We'll see how long it keeps. It should live on this reel for a good while.
I put the sxj on a 6'6" acid wrapped rod to slow pitch for jigs from 130g to 400g. Im in the keys now as soon as the weather settles im headed off shore. BTW, I used your knot to connect to the spool. Thanks for the great information in your videos
@@TeamHardLife yessir I did check it, excellent grip to spool. I worked it back and forth to even out the wraps like in your video. Vastly superior connection over the old way with electric tape and arbor knot.
With it being so thick it’s super strong I hooked a teeter hammer on the 200pb hollow reaction and it had a deep fray in the braid from a swim thru unknown to me and it held 90+ pounds of drag so yes it’s thick but it’s stupid strong honestly the 130 will break closer to 200lb
@@TeamHardLife Possibly but still felt I should have gotten more on my spools. unfortunately I don't have a line counter to check like you have. I did get the line on tight also.
@@TeamHardLife I used their 65lb on two MXL Raptors and 100lb on a Lx. I went with Reaction Tackle because of the price in case I decided I didn't like the hollow core. I already told you my feelings before on straight braid and how I wouldn't use it.
I don't see the need for more than 1500 yards if line either, though I could use 1500 of 300lb cause the reason long drops aren't necessary is cause it gets deep FAST which comes with more rocky ground and the need for abraision resistance so that even a line frayed half way through can still land a trophy, and we have whites over here, actually the biggest one ever seen (~23feet) was in the Mediterranean so while I don't think there's a point in having a mile or more line left after deploying the bait(you'd just kill a shark if he takes that much and you keep fighting him) but the ability to put on the heat is crucial. For the cut off's: I just have a spool with me and re spool if necessary, since it's the line you tun out it doesn't have to be crazy right anyway
@@TeamHardLife oh yeah, what I meant is if a shark takes that much line from the reel. Personally I like about a thousand yards left on the spool cause some shark will take that much, just saying if that shark from 1800yds would've run out to 3000 there's a good chance it wouldn't have survived, also cause if you're in bad luck that beast will take several hundred yards again and again
All the big sharks that I have caught from deep 1500yds plus have never taken more than a few 100 yds most of the time they turn and the line also works against them at that distance... however biggest is only 13ft
@@TeamHardLife including 12-13 foot hammers? I know a tiger will rarely pull much... But yeah, so much line definitely fights the fish too, at that distance it's like mono on shorter drops. On our 50-200yds drops over here you obviously need more braking power since you have much more direct contact to the fish. Also important to note that the 130 Cortland is stronger than 200 JB so it's enough for almost anything, except when you need all the abraision resistance you can get
That's an excellent idea for those wanting line capacity and lost definitely when the fight is up close your trying to close it out fast... these was a several week period here where monster hammers were caught close just can't predict it here there isn't too many on the books like that of the east coast..

I’m curious of the breaking strength of this line. They may overrate the strength which in turn makes it thicker.
That is something to look at cuase it was more of that of 200# test
Whats the best line capacity braid out there gonna buy an avet pretty soon and i want max line capacity
For consistency in cost and quantity as well as quality and color retention of braid hands down is, the Tightline hollow core braid ..

Awesome keep us posted and if you could track how many times it been ran and depth
@@TeamHardLife copy that
Awesome and thank you were always looking to see the life of tackle
I spooled my sxj raptor with the 20lb x8 reaction tackle. On a 500yd spool it looked like I had about 100 +or- yds left.
How is that working out for you ? How do you fish it?

Yes sir Def and upgrade to go with all the upgrades of tackle and gear
Glad you did this Albert because this confirms why I had so much line left on the spool after filling a reel.
And I got some more testing of this line stay tuned
Time to order some Tightline for capacity and use this stuff I have for top shots.
It definitely can change the game for sure
Haha, the acidic sweat of yours is😂 all you're toughness coming out of your skin Albert.
Most definitely like Gunny Highway lol

There can definitely be some positive impact from being thicker for sure..I am getting a heavier puller to test breaking strengths..
That's why we need the line tests, if this line tests in the 200s the capacity would be pretty decent
Most definitely trying to get the extra funds to truly weight test some lines..
Which strand is this??
We're you able to watch the video?
You should sell your acidic sweat to the government for use in weaponry Cap'n, just like they were planning to do in the movie Alien 😅
Lol I'd it was only that strong.. lmao
Test a 130s drag vs truck or a small Honda
Lol seen them do that with some reels talk about smoking some reels..
@@TeamHardLife what about vs a little atv.. we could really see the stopping power.
Lol bro the reel will.put out the drag that's for sure the reel question is will.you be ready to hold that kind of drag.. standing up?
Good one
