Feels like they just copied everyone else’s homework for the past ten years and finally got around to turning in their own paper ten years later. Like window snapping? T9? Scheduled texts? Apps anywhere on the home screen? Apple is the absolute opposite of innovative lmao all they do is copy.
i have to agree i watch just about every LTT video and this has to be on the top of the list in terms of videos that make me wonder how much they are schilling at times... i mean it is literally no different but no one cares when its apple as you said. I'm sure the response to this would be "ohh well apple is more trust worthy than MS" hahaha yea keep believing that. Just get ahold of some CISA reports over the last 5 years and no one would be saying they are more secure in practice... they are however very good at making people believe they are and they have a walled garden which in some aspects elevates certain risks but brings its own as well especially when people get complacent due to thinking they are always safe. Everything is secure until its not... in other words nothing is secure its just whether the hole has been found yet lol
This was literally how I felt with the uproar against Microsofts Recall feature, whilst nobody is doing the same for all the AI being shoved down our throats lately that WILL absolutely ALL be mining us and our devices for data - regardless as to what privacy claims are made. AI models literally cannot BE "private" and wouldn't work without lots of data being fed to them. That data has to come from somewhere (and they all 100% report back to their corporate overlords, even the models running "on device" to think otherwise is pure stupidity).
I personally don't like apple but im not gonna lie, they intergrated AI very well with this update. @@udeshwarsinghsandhu2576 Weirdly I'll have to agree with you. @@udeshwarsinghsandhu2576 im not for or against either company tbh and i certainly wasn't advocating for MS as security award of the year winner or something... my point was your putting trust in to two companies that will benefit massively by doing the exact opposite as they say they are going to do with your data and you ultimately have no idea what they are actually doing and going to do with it and that isn't even taking into account the security flaws i am sure we will soon find out about as nothing is secure just when someone finds a hole not if. I don't need you to force AI applications onto me there are websites for that and if you want to make an integrated suite or apps fine but let me install it and not make a default feature... to me that is opt in otherwise there is always a switch at their finger tips to make that opt out button magically turn on and that's if it did anything in the first place. Both companies have track records for doing these things. In other words not everything needs AI integrated into it whether the consumer wants it or not and even as you said MS only has it on some products with apple you have their phone you get this pushed on you
@@iLeetProductions you can do pretty much all of this on android, but you're either gonna have to install sketchy apps, have to set it up manually yourself with something like Tasker, or you're going to have to root your phone. Knowing that you're locked into an ecosystem and your devices are intentionally slowed down as the years go by. It just works, but not for me. I'll keep my cheaper new phones thank you.
As an apple "hater" for the last decade or so, what apple is currently doing with "AI" and their products excites me more than the crap microsoft has being putting out with windows 11
choosing which contact an app can see, you can create a throwaway contact for those apps who require to see contacts but you wont give them anything u dont want
You can be an Apple hater because Apple is barring reasonable devices from updating to iOS / iPadOS 18. The iPad 7 with A10 is still “compatible” with iPadOS 18, but the more powerful A10X iPads and A10 and even A11 iPhones can’t update. Apple Intelligence is “compatible” with all M chips but only A17 Pro for A chips. But A14 and M1 actually have the same neural engine, so do A and M chips after that. Apple is forcing extra sales by arbitrarily “generation-walling” (same concept as paywalling) Apple Intelligence.
The xr is geting the update right? That is a VERY long lifespan for a phone lmao. Like, a lot longer than most. Even if I'm wrong, most devices still have a longer lifespan than most companies (not me looking at phones that get updates for 2 fucking years). Also, ram is the issue with Apple Intelligence. It is a damn miracle that they can do all this with only 8 gb of ram, it would take some insane level of tech wizardry to do this with less than 8. Have you ever tried doing this on your own computer? People will spend an iPhone's worth of money just on the GPU in order to do the things that the smartphone can. I know I sound hella glazy but I hope in the future every phone can do this, so smartphones can truly be smart.
There is a memory angle for holding the models in addition to the compute optimisations as well. The latest iPhone Pro had an increased amount of RAM so the bottleneck here is potentially less compute but memory.
@@ventilate4267 It’s great support if you just look at OS update, but software support, from my point of view, consists of at least OS and app support. Apple devices have an “app support” problem. Some app developers, most notoriously Microsoft, drop app support only one year after OS support is dropped. Of course some developers do offer longer support. On the Android side of things, app support is at least 4 to 5 years after OS support has ended. If an Android has only two years of OS support, then it would have the same total OS plus app support as the iPhone X (7 years). If you have anything more than 3 years of OS support, Android is wining the total software support longevity.

when microsoft integrates AI - "brother ewww"
when Apple integrates AI - "This is genius"
i have to agree i watch just about every LTT video and this has to be on the top of the list in terms of videos that make me wonder how much they are schilling at times... i mean it is literally no different but no one cares when its apple as you said.
Like microsoft has copilot on specific laptops but its a whole thing you have to open and give the information to. Apple just kinda told you, you can just highlight this and press check with chatGPT. I am a hardcore windows and samsung user but ngl they kinda pulling me towards Apple.
@@udeshwarsinghsandhu2576 Weirdly I'll have to agree with you. I still think shoving AI into every aspect of their devices is dumb AF and people shouldn't want it, if you're GOING to shove AI onto your customers then Apples way of integrating it directly into each app and tweaking the AI to provide app-specific or content-specific abilities is the better way of doing it.

"It's going to be really hard to be an Apple hater." I'mma 'bout to prove Linus wrong.

@@desktop-ini Me too, I am daily driving an iPhone X.
6 years of OS updates without needing a custom ROM is still pretty good from an android perspective 😂 so not much grounds complain on there
The xr is geting the update right?
