I had this computer, and it gives me so much nostalgia seeing it. I would say SSD upgrades are certainly worth it. I also do remember this computer's fan being loud as hell!
I have a HP G62 laptop, I run Ubuntu, 4gb of RAM and SSD upgrade, Also replaced the cooling paste on my CPU after it kept overheating. Just needs a new battery and a new keyboard as I've lost a few keys and it will be good for another 10 years of use. I'd quite like to get it to work on Windows 95 but i aren't sure that's even possible.
I have the same laptop but unfortunately it turned out defective. I changed it in the store, but the second one gave the same defect. At times the display flickered and gave a display driver error message. Under warranty, the motherboard was replaced several times, but the defect remained. Strange why the service techs only test it on games but not normal behavior. Finally, already out of warranty, I took it to another service for cleaning, and afterwards it got a thin vertical pink line on the display. Still, this is the laptop with the best image out of all the 10+ I've used, and it's not slow either - 4GB RAM 64bit Win 7. It still works but crashes.
"see yuh...b*tches"...LMAO! That made my day. Thanks for the video. I figured an SSD and RAM upgrade would be beneficial but I wasn't too sure. So now I'm going to do it.
Have 2 of the HP G62 laptops, one an AMD, & the other an Intel. Also have an HP Compaq CQ56, similar to the G62. Both, or, all 3, can be upgraded. All 3 still have Win 7. Thank you 🤓 I think 3GB RAM was an original install.

Man, I had a really bad experience with that laptop, it wasn't due the performance, it's just because this laptop was a boiling machine. At desktop just after it boot up this thing reached 60°C all the time on the CPU... 60°C only after booting up!!!. And if i tried to play not so demanding games in 5 or so minutes the laptop shutteddown because literally was reaching the maximum temperature that the motherboard could keep up (Don't remember exactly, maybe 100°C.)
@@sir_westerlund just reinstall windows and backup your HP laptop. If you don't have pendrive then just watch some video how to manually install windows without pendrive.

I have this exact laptop also, and still had it in original box bought new for 800.00 and I’ve only used it a handful of times because it’s like a turtle! I’ve never updated it ,and after watching your video am thinking about trying, how do you backup windows to reload? I’m thinking about the 8 ram two 4 s and I found your exact hard drive, but was wondering if a 500 would be even faster? I’ve never attempted anything like this, I like the dvdrw drive and all the ports so I hate to buy a newer one
If you want to backup your current hard drive you’ll need to export it to a thumb drive or an external hard drive to reinstall, I believe windows 10 has a program for that. Going with the 500g hard drive won’t be faster, just more storage. A more expensive ssd should make things a little quicker but I don’t think it’s worth it 👍 I would however suggest that you get the biggest ssd that you can afford cause storage is always an issue.
Thanks for helping me , I did go back to crucial and did get it to scan ,so I’m going to try this, it’s not very usable the way it is , took over 5 minutes, 5 minutes! To boot up to go to site to do the scan,so thanks again for helping me, I think it will be a good laptop after it speeds up
