If you want to learn more about how Inkscape works, I have a 50+ part video series where I explain all of the tools and features in Inkscape and demonstrate how they work. Here's the link if interested: logosbynick.com/inkscape/
thanks this is actually oddly similar to what I had in mind for my own business, at least to start off with and I can always change it. Thank you for this
"you know what? i know some ppl are broke. i knew i'm fully capable of what that guy made in illustrator. so i'm gonna go the extra mile and make something just as good on inkscape- all free of charge, for random people on youtube". thank you, Nick.
This is probably my fourth or fifth logo I watch from Nick, awesome, quick and to the point! Thanks Nick for making the complex artwork simple to understand...
I have downloaded Inkscape on Saturday. Finished all tutorials of TJ on Sunday. And now doing practical lesson on this one on 4th day. I must say, cracking Inkscape is made easy by you NIck. Thanks for the wonderful creativity dose.
I've watched two of your videos and learned more about inkscape than I have from watching about 2 dozen videos in the past couple weeks. Thanks so much for the help, as I've always been a paintshop/Photoshop guy!
well, I have to say , The best TEACHER is someone who makes you fall in love with the subject even if its damn boring, and yes u made me fall in love with inkscape.
great tutorial there Nick, really showing us what can be achieved with inkscape. There's not many inkscape tuts on youtube that are as well explained as yours and i look forwards to each new one. thanks for your time and commitment.
Oddly enough I had something similar in mind for a logo I'm working on for my own business. I am gonna change the colors and the shape a bit and add some text but this was a huge help since I need to save as much money as possible for what I need to do and once I get more established I can change it if need be.
Incredible just how you could come up with those amazing logo ideas by just simply manipulating different shapes and colours...absolutely inspiring and stunning
I am a big fan of your videos. When I first opened this application, I couldn't understand a single thing but your videos helped me learn this awesome open source software and now, I use this software daily. Thanks a lot. I like the way you show the keys you are pressing and the mouse clicks. I tried using carnac but it wasn't that good. It would be really helpful if you could tell which app you use for that. Hope you don't take it wrong.
Sweet! I saw that same Illustrator video. I love taking Adobe videos and making the same things as them using Inkscape and Gimp. This video was great. Subscribed!
Hey Nick, Is it possible to turn a flat 2-D logo of three figure eights into a 3-D sphere? If so, what program would be best and most user-friendly? Thank you for this video !
I'm finding these videos extremely useful for finding nice techniques for making nice drop shadows and how to achieve certain geometries. Can you suggest any books or magazines which are useful for giving ideas for what to incorporate into designs? Great videos!
I cant find the snap to custom nodes Burton on my interface and cant find custom in View? How do I do That? I Am using the latent version of inkscape. Thanks for an awesome tutorial.
Very creative form. I also manged to make something with myself in 2013, also on RUclips, video tutorial for Illustrator. Just type 3D logo! I think now that my video has just over 700,000 views. I am surprised because some people are now seeing for the first time. Luckily not violated the copyrights of authors! Please!
+Clever Mark Yes I saw it. I wanted to show people how to create the design in Inkscape, although you executed the design much better than I did. Great work!
I probably missed something but when you cahnge the opacity on 4:54 On my inkscape it still displays the image at 4:55 but with brighter colours. What did i do wrong?
near the 14:38 mark, when you were talking about the space left over near the grey and blue... If you zoom in and click (possibly double click) you can adjust the edge of the shape i.e. pull a corner to the edge of the sphere without adjusting the entire shape itself. Hope thats clear :) (ver. 0.92.3)
Thank you very much.... I am interested in learning graphics and your channel is helping me to pursue my learning with free open source software. thank you so much.
Hello, thanks for the useful video. I have a question: If I draw an object, for example, a colored circle and create a light effect with create and edit gradients (Ctrl + F1), then I can not save the object with light effect together to an object. The object and the light effect dissolve as soon as I move it, even if I try to combine it with Ctrl + G or Ctrl ++ before. how so? Thanks in advance for the answers.
I appreciate your tutorials VERY MUCH! Thank you. Q: I have an issue whereby whenever I open my Create Circles tool, the nodes are not aligned square (to top / bottom & sides). Is there a way to readjust the way the default has been altered? In addition to this, the right node is split to "open" the circle every time I open this tool, which has slowed me down quite a few times. Any input would be helpful. Thanks again!
Yes, as long as your designs don't violate anyone else's copyrights and/or are used as "fair use". But yes, Inkscape creations can be used commercially. I've made a lot of money using Inkscape :)
Nick I followed what you did and for some reason I had a black border that was around the object, so if i lowered the opacity the object was clear but still had like a wireframe
It's probably a stroke (outline). With the object selected, hold shift and click on the X at the bottom left corner next to the color black. That should turn it off.
Awesome job Nick! No need to apologize for "Sloppy work". It doesn't even look bad to me and I understand that if you were doing this on your own time as it were, you would correct the little stuff. Thanks for not obsessing -- for the video's sake. :) Thanks again.
This is great video, but in my opinion @9:44 was the best this shape will ever be, you could have ended there. The reason is, @9:44 the blue spherical ball was looking like it is in the center of the outer shell. Unlike the final image, which it looks behind the shell. Thanks for your video, it is awesome, "just like that" XD
Hi i find this tutorial extremely awesome. I tried going along but i encountered a problem with my snap cusp nodes. Instead of having it as a solid line like yours, mine is rather just like lines that fades and thins towards the end like a brush stroke. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :)
What version of Inkspace is this? I downloaded Inskpace 0.9.2.2 with totally different icons and screen display than yours. Please inform me. I like this SW.
+BEaSTFXbeatbox Thank you. Yes it's customize. I wrote an article outlining how to do the same if you're interested: blog.logosbynick.com/design/how-to-make-inkscape-go-dark/
please someone help i cant run my Inkscape on my macbook pro os x 10.10.5 i can download it along with the xquartz and for some reason it wont allow me to run it after its done downloading. i get the Inkscape ---> applications window but i do that an i cant open the Inkscape app itself . it pops up at the bottom with all my other main apps but it just starts bouncing up and down . Someone please let me know what the heck is going on cause i really wanna get started on some really unique projects on this laptop.
+TAMA HAWK That sounds odd. Never experienced that myself, and I don't know too much about Mac OS, so I don't think I'd be able to help you there. You could try the Inkscape forum, or maybe a Mac support forum?
Very, very nice. ...and one day I'd like to see a not perfectly round circle. 😉 I think a circle is always perfectly round, otherwise it is an ellipse.

+ahmed deia Thanks! I aspire to put Inkscape on the map and start digging in to Adobe's market share 8)
wow! this was amazing. I'm actually a beginner and I haven't taken any classes, but it turned out pretty good. Thanks a lot
You are incredible! This is literally giving me a headache. There are so many steps it'll take me 5 yrs just to create this on my own.
You are very good at explaining things! Thanks for including all the small tips in the video, too!
Oddly enough I had something similar in mind for a logo I'm working on for my own business. I am gonna change the colors and the shape a bit and add some text but this was a huge help since I need to save as much money as possible for what I need to do and once I get more established I can change it if need be.
OMG dude I just stayed up till 5 am doing your tutorials. Didn't wanna sleep anyway :`(

Sweet! I saw that same Illustrator video. I love taking Adobe videos and making the same things as them using Inkscape and Gimp. This video was great. Subscribed!
Thanks. Yeah I like showing people that Inkscape can do virtually anything Illustrator can.
Thanks, for making me realize I waste $300 on adobe illustrator and photoshop. Subscribed
Hey Nick,
Is it possible to turn a flat 2-D logo of three figure eights into a 3-D sphere? If so, what program would be best and most user-friendly?
Thank you for this video !
Complete mastery of the software. Thanks so much.
I had to subscribe. This is great stuff. Thanks a lot.

This is a fun way of getting really creative with shapes! Thank you!
Hey Nick. Thanks for the videos. I just started learning Inkscape, and it is going good so far. Keep up the good work.
This is brilliant, you are doing great work Nick... by bringing beauty in this world...keep it up...!!
Great video! I always learn something when I watch your videos, from now on I'm double clicking to add a gradient stop!
+Bob Blihovde It's definitely a much easier approach. I always knew about it, but didn't realize how much easier it is until recently.
I like the way you describe things to audiences
As mentioned below, magic. Great skills, Nick.
for a beginner it is like revelation, thanks for an awesome tutorial.
I am learner. very inspired with your design skills. Thanks for the presentation.
+Ramesh Pydi Thanks for watching!
yours is a little more 3d looking and theirs is just a little more polished...this was an awesome tutorial

DUDE, THAT IS AMAZING WORK, THNX!
That logo looks really awesome! Great tutorial, thank you. Just found out about Inkscape today, of course I'm interested! Keep it up
Amazing, I learned so much... now I just can't forget it.
I'm finding these videos extremely useful for finding nice techniques for making nice drop shadows and how to achieve certain geometries. Can you suggest any books or magazines which are useful for giving ideas for what to incorporate into designs? Great videos!
Man chwck out some international buisness magazines. The companies have a lot of logos and related stuff.
Great Tutorials. Watched three in a row. Subscribed. thanks for educating.
Wow great, I followed all the steps and create my first 3D design
Thank you

I probably missed something but when you cahnge the opacity on 4:54 On my inkscape it still displays the image at 4:55 but with brighter colours. What did i do wrong?
Amazingly beautiful. Although I can't "follow" your steps and your imagination. Really beautiful.

+southsider1036 Thank you. Glad you liked it.
+Nick Saporito (LogosByNick) you're very welcome
I had no idea inkscape can do this.
Thanks
Lovely tutorial! I used some of your awesome tips to create a vector coffee cup! :D
+SD Origami Cool, glad to hear :)
Thank you very much.... I am interested in learning graphics and your channel is helping me to pursue my learning with free open source software. thank you so much.
Now I know the technique, I need now the inspiration.
Hello,
thanks for the useful video.

The object and the light effect dissolve as soon as I move it, even if I try to combine it with Ctrl + G or Ctrl ++ before. how so?
Thanks in advance for the answers.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. You have good mastery over Inkscape.
How do you get that little keyboard insert at the bottom left of the screen that shows the key sequence you push?
@14:15 Inkscape will not allow me to create the center point for the gradient. ???? The other gradients worked fine....
Wonderful tutorial. Very beginner friendly!
Thanks again!
logo made on this software can be commercially used? I mean can I use the logo made on this software for my RUclips channel and monetize those videos?
Yes, as long as your designs don't violate anyone else's copyrights and/or are used as "fair use". But yes, Inkscape creations can be used commercially. I've made a lot of money using Inkscape :)
I really like these tutorials.
That's really cool,Nick! Thanks.
thank you very much from Russian student :) it`s very very cool!

Great tutorial, I really like it. Simple to follow
Nick , can you please do tutorial videos on Hitfilm 4 Express ? Like how to add motion graphics on videos and all.
Awesome job Nick! No need to apologize for "Sloppy work". It doesn't even look bad to me and I understand that if you were doing this on your own time as it were, you would correct the little stuff. Thanks for not obsessing -- for the video's sake. :) Thanks again.
You are a magician, for real!
I love the interface you are using, I changed mine to dark as well. But how did you get the icons to be so colorful?
I downloaded and installed an icon pack called Numix Circle
Its a very very good tutorial👍👍👍
Have you produced an update to this task for the current version of Inkscape?
This is great video, but in my opinion @9:44 was the best this shape will ever be, you could have ended there.
The reason is, @9:44 the blue spherical ball was looking like it is in the center of the outer shell. Unlike the final
image, which it looks behind the shell.
Thanks for your video, it is awesome, "just like that" XD
+RebelliousX82 Thanks. You have a good point!
How do you make the outline were all the tools are black mines white?
I wrote an article about how to do so here: blog.logosbynick.com/design/how-to-make-inkscape-go-dark/
Hi i find this tutorial extremely awesome. I tried going along but i encountered a problem with my snap cusp nodes. Instead of having it as a solid line like yours, mine is rather just like lines that fades and thins towards the end like a brush stroke. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :)
Awesome Tutorial man
Really great tutorials!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Holy, that's beautiful!
+InnerTranquility Thank you
hello...pretty good tutorials, maybe a little advanced for a Inkscape beginner but i'll try to keep up.
When I chose difference it cuts more then yours did? Why? Help!!!
Thanks man, this was very helpful. Subscribed.
Thanks!
Great tutorial, thank you!
What version of Inkspace is this? I downloaded Inskpace 0.9.2.2 with totally different icons and screen display than yours. Please inform me. I like this SW.
Using this same tutorial, can a cube be created instead?
Had to subscribe. Great tutorials. Is your interface style custom? Can we get it from somewhere? Looks really good!
+BEaSTFXbeatbox Thank you. Yes it's customize. I wrote an article outlining how to do the same if you're interested: blog.logosbynick.com/design/how-to-make-inkscape-go-dark/
Awesome tutorial
i love it, wanna ask if i may use your design and use it for my youtube vid?
please someone help i cant run my Inkscape on my macbook pro os x 10.10.5 i can download it along with the xquartz and for some reason it wont allow me to run it after its done downloading. i get the Inkscape ---> applications window but i do that an i cant open the Inkscape app itself . it pops up at the bottom with all my other main apps but it just starts bouncing up and down . Hi! I'm new in using inkscape. what should I do if the edit object won't work?
Thank u :)

+Manuel Garcia Thanks!
Hi Nick, Can I use Inkscape to upload vector in Shutterstock? and how? I always get errors etc. thanks
You are a genius!! Thanks very much!!
Very, very nice.
