I have been frustrated with this the past few years and figured out the solution. Modify the sprayer to make it a constantly flooded pump so the pump has a gravity feed from the tank and it works! I think these manufactures want to sell check valves and that's why they manufacture them with pumps mounted higher on the tanks.

I bought the sprayer at rural King last year. It was on sale late in the year so I didn't get a chance to use it. Now this year I used it the first time and the pump leaks. Is it just a piece of crap or should I try to fix it?

My sprayer is fairly new but won't prime. Took the pump apart. Everything looks ok. Why would I need to force prime it? It worked last time I used it a few months ago without force priming. It's like it has no suction in the intake hose. Checked clamps. No clogs.
