The A-Wing is finally here. After 2 X-Wings, 2 Y-Wings, 2 Snowspeeders, 2 Falcons, and a B-Wing. We have a UCS A-Wing! Fleet complete. And NO, the U-Wing doesn't count. Sheesh. :)

UCS sets shouldn’t have any stickers. If they are charging a good amount of money. Everything should be printed

They put in the wrong sticker sheet too! I got two of the model stickers but just one of the canopy ones, which the booklet said would be doubled. A terrible mistake from lego really

good, twice the stickers, double the tries
I got 1 copy of each of the stickers - no double cockpit stickers as stated. I didn't really need them in the end but it would have been nice for peace of mind. Weirdly my sets guns only rotate to 90 degrees, not all the way back - I guess I fucked something up - but I'm not going to pull it all apart now to find out what! 😀

It’s most likely just a malfunction in the packing of the box. I’m sure they meant to add one, but their method for packing the boxes is automated, so it could have easily missed a sticker sheet.

@@OW12354 Yeah the weird part where they hyperdrive into every single ship, the kamikaze from admiral holdo. I wasn't a big star wars fan when I first watched it but I knew it was bs.
Apparently, there are lore mistakes on the sticker for the info plaque itself. Unless they did manage to make some corrections, Brickset did report on it. Might be a minor thing but I do want to point that out.
It does look phenomenal at first glance but I don't know why they didn't make a printed transparent piece since the Batmobile has proven it to be possible. Nobody should have to waste stickers at that point. I can understand depending on the surface, printed colors, etc.
And yes, I have to bring the Batmobile again because the packaging feels like a step-down by comparison what we have for two years with the Falcon, Star Destroyer and Y-Wing. I love dynamic displays of a set. I can understand for sets based on cars (even the Tumbler had a dynamic presentation, twice with the back of the box featuring the Bunker).
Otherwise, the product itself does look great but the price for piece ratio and the little time we spend with the A-Wing in RotJ makes it less impressive to me. I do remember that mission on Bespin in Rogue Squadron 2 on Gamecube and it was glorious since we did actually pilot an A-Wing as we flew to the Cloud City destroying Tibana Gas tanks the Empire was taking and protecting. That's my best memory of the A-Wing.
People are asking for fewer stickers and more prints.

I think a non calamari star cruiser would be a cool set to see, I know it’s very round and blistery but I think it’s possible seeing the Mocs people have come up with :)

@burt ernie imo it's one of the less iconic ships from the OT, and display models are also less appealing to me
Just started building mine tonight. Got through 70 pages and enjoying it. You can really see the time spent into developing a strong chassis for the ship. Very sturdy.
This might be the first UCS set I buy. Though I did get the Tantive IV.
Definitely one of the best under sides on a set

I wish LEGO would stick to a scale for ucs sets (bar the isd, Death Star) I hate that there’s 2x and 1x size ships on my shelf
It would be cool. But to get a really good detailed and accurate UCS style a wing or snowspeeder at scale is almost impossible. They would be too small. The awing would have to be half the size it is now and the snowspeeder even smaller. Doesnt leave alot of room for detail.

MBPhilip black I went with the a wing due to it matching the color scheme on my car and the fact that it looks clean. However its up to you they are both pretty different looking.

I'm looking back at this reveiw I'm just gonna say Lego did have the technology for sliding cockpit but why did they use it on a small set like general grievous starfighter ad a bigger set like the 1989 batmobile but not why the a wing?
I’m not someone to cry but the last episode of clone wars was so sad
Disappointing that they chose such a small fighter for may 4th ucs, when they could have chosen something far more eye catching for a collector.
Dont get me wrong it looks great but 200 bucks is over priced for such a small fighter, it's well done but I would have preferred they do a ucs at at for once instead of just another bland at at for summer sale which I'm not gonna buy.
Also they used way too many stickers lego is just getting lazy and cheap with their sets lately, might have to stop buying lego until they do something more on a moc scale within reason.
Luckily there is an at-at moc by the guy that did the isd aggressor which is amazing in detail lots of smooth pieces, have to rebuild it since my father in law knocked it over and it shattered which was painful to watch but should still have the pieces but it destroys any of hte at-at lego has released.
Lore side the a wing guns are supposed to be able to flip backwards to attack pursuing fighters and give the fighter better attack range, being able to attack perpendicular to the fighter
I was hoping to have landing gear like te Y Wing, also i think you missed a 2x1 tan plate, the headrest in the cockpit!

there are stickers called waterslide we use them in gundpla on rare occasion you wet the sticker and then grab a cotten swab to adjust the sticker to the the desired position and then let it dry

The last LEGO sets I received were the UCS Vader’s tie and UCS AT-ST. Wow what a Christmas that was I must’ve been 12. To celebrate graduating college I got this set on May the fourth. It was a great build and reminds me of when I was younger.
I highly regret not getting this set when it was out. I just started my new job and while I had the money for it technically, i couldn't "afford" it. When I finally had money, surprise surprise they were no longer being made and were all sold out. Now people are selling them on Amazon and eBay for almost $400
I wish they built a Naboo Starfighter in this quality of design and size. Maybe a little smaller because otherwise it would be as big as the UCS gunship. A wing felt like a Ferrari to me, while Naboo Starfighter like a Corvette.
I agree with Ryan in its size; it is much bigger than expected. I feel the red circular pieces always tend to fall off the 1/2 pod piece with its wobbling. I feel this truly minimises the quality of this UCS set. If they could have found a more structural sound way to make the engines this would be a perfect set.
8/10 for me and much better than the very disappointing Tantive IV which I found to be far to anemic in its size and stability.
Edit-I found the front angular pieces to have too much movement in them as well but was able to get them on a tighter fit by making sure every single connection was as solid as possible. There is not much leeway for imperfectly building this set

how do you think LEGO will attach Cody’s visor on his helmet IF they make a phase 2 Cody? Do you think they’ll mold it on or use a special helmet?
It will be a normal helmet with an attachable piece. That's how they've always done it.

My wishlist for UCS in the future:
1) Vader’s TIE
2) Any Podracer (preferably Sebulba’s)
3) Tie Silencer
4) Thrawn’s Chimaera
5) Naboo starfighter
the reason for the guns being able to turn backward is because that was a feauture of the mark 1 a wing so if there was a tie fighter behind it it would be able to counter the tie

I've just put the engines together and thought I had missed a step as to how flimsy the connection is.
It actually feels very un-lego like and I think it would need at least two technic connectors to hold each engine in place. I can't stress how the smallest of force breaks them away from the body.
Yeah i agree, just built one and the engines were very fragile
I had the same issue when i first built it and ended up having to rebuild it later on as it got knocked off the shelf. I have no idea what i did differently the second time around but the engines are really sturdy now. They dont wobble at all, i can even give them a light slap and they dont budge one bit.

2008 LEGO Collector Book is my favorite even though it was missing tons of pictures. I got 2 sticker sheets in the last X Wing. They should put two sets of stickers in every set that has stickers
BrickTsar I need to get one of the books, even though it’s mostly outdated now probably. I think my X-Wing had 2 as well but the issue was it wasn’t a cutout and if you removed your first sticker it left a sticky residue on the clear cockpit making it not clear anymore.

9:20 I think that control panel is also in the 75049 snow speeder. But it’s a 2014 set so I’m probably wrong
yeeeeep agreed with the engines and how they are not mounted on enough to keep them solid, building this now and had to look on here to see if that was correct and glad im not the only one that thinks its just to flimsy!
I generally agree with all your comments MandR, but the cost just puts me off, sadly. I appreciate its to scale with the showspeeder but that just makes me feel that both are over-priced. It’s a gorgeous design and I was so excited about the A Wing as it’s my favourite ship; but I just can’t condone paying £179.99 for it. Add a few figures and drop the price by say, £20.00 and I’d be on board. Anyway, good video!

That control panel piece you mentioned is brand new from 2020 and it came from two sets. One is of course the UCS A-wing and the other is Poe Dameron's x-wing(white and orange)

Dude, this thing is a beauty, one of the cleanest UCS sets in my opinion.
When they say two sticker sheets they ment that the cockpit canopy has its own sheet so when you buy the canopy stickers you don't buy all the stickers in the set
At 2:19 you can see the book Lego a love story on the table in the introduction manual. I love that lego had that in there considering it's not an official book but rather an AFOL (Jonathan Bender) authored it

the proportions of this are so messed up... The nose is waaaay to short and the wings and the back part of the engine are not even conected. I'm dissapointed, I love the A-Wing, but I saw better custom UCS A-Wings arround. Maybe in 4-5 years Lego gives a other designer a try and he get's it done more screen accurate.

A thought about the engines. Just finished putting mine on. What if the designers thought about it from an engineering perspective? Think about the engine in your car. It sits on rubber engine mounts to reduce cabin vibration. Maybe it's true for a space fighter too ....
