you just cant go wrong with meshuggah, each song is just unrelenting brutality and i love it. check out Straws pulled at random, Also their album Catch 33, you have to listen to the full album in one sitting cause all of the songs go together like One big song, love that album
Thanks for the recommendations! I've been intensely impressed with everything of theirs I've heard so far, it's clear why they're a main-stay in metal.
I didn't see anyone mention in the comments, the time signature is 4/4 from start to finish. The song consists of a series of patterns played over the bar creating polymeters (not the same as polyrhythm). For me the most difficult section to play on drums is the long repetitive pattern during the guitar solo. The pattern itself is simple, but it's surprisingly difficult to remain locked in mentally on 4/4.
It's fantastic, the way it holds that steadier rhythm and pitch after a song of chaos, fading out and having the extra guitar layered in over the top. It's so effective.
Awesome reaction. Probably their most reacted to song is Bleed. If you decide to check it out, I recommend the audio version. The music video is only the first half of the song. In my opinion, the second half is the better half. There's also a badass guitar solo you don't want to miss
Welcome to the rabbit hole!! 'Future Breed Machine" is an older song from 95' but is so insanely ahead of it's time its hard to believe it came out then. Such an amazing band!
Thanks I appreciate that a lot! The song has so much happening I feel like I easily could've gone on for another half an hour, the raw recording was already about 10-15 minutes longer than the final video.
Still my favourite song ever, the riffs and rhythms are just unrelenting and incredibly groovy. In the section before the solo, the snare pattern going 1/2/1/3 and eventually lining up with the right hand staying straight on the cymbals is SO fun to air drum. That final riff with the kick drum and snare rhythm is just SO heavy. Easily the most relistenable song of theirs, gets better every time you hear it.
Oh yeah I bet this is one of those songs where even on the 30th listen you still hear something new you didn't notice before. I'm amazed by their ability to make something somehow both groovy and still chaotic, that's no easy feat!
There's a live version of this song on this platform and it only misses the 'third' melodic guitar line. For the rest it is exactly the same. They can really pull it off live. And yes, as far as I'm concerned, but I don't know the entire discography, this is one of their best songs. But there's still enough to enjoy like: Do not look down, Break those bones whose sinews gave it motion, Demiurgh, Clockworks, Combustion (and basically the entire ObZen album 'Dancers' is also from) Also fun are the Meshuggah rhythmical explainers by Yogev Gabay like this one: ruclips.net/video/PSccUMhoa_U/видео.html&ab_channel=YogevGabay
Honestly incredible respect for that, even setting aside the skill to write and play something like this, just the ability to memorise some of those complex solos is a feat in itself. I have a ton of other Meshuggah suggestions on my list, so we'll definitely have plenty to look at going forward including some of these ones you added! Yogev is someone RUclips keeps recommending to me and I haven't watched yet, I think I'll have to give his videos a go to expand my knowledge.
Hello sir :) Nice reaction. Just a tip - would be good to increase the volume of the music you are reacting to. Your voice is clearly hearable but the music is quite quiet 🙂
Hey, thanks for that! I'm still changing around with the audio balance I want as I want to still be audible, but without overpowering the song audio. I'll keep that in mind going forward!
I'm unfamiliar with this artist, but really loved the song, so will definitely be checking out more of their music.
I love to hear it! This is only my second Meshuggah song ever but they've already captured me with both songs so far, I'm obsessed.
Happy to see you return to Meshuggah!
I’ll continue recommending ”Chorridor of Chameleons” by them! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll be back to them without a doubt! I'll add that one to my list, cheers.

I appreciate that info, I wasn't aware of the right nomenclature for it!
Most of their music is in 4/4 surprisingly
The end of this song is so beautiful and powerful, I get shivers every single time

I'll add that one to my list, thank you! Honestly this is just making me gutted I held off listening to them for so much of my life.
You clearly know your stuff. It’s no surprise you found this song to be of the highest quality

Wow I’m so excited this is one of my favorite songs 😮
Love to hear that, I hope you enjoyed it!
if you wanna dive more into dillinger escape plan you gotta listen to their masterpiece of an album "calculating infinity". its so heavy and raw.

@@AdamGaffney96 It was Yogev's video's that definitively made me 'get' what Meshuggah is doing and why they are brilliant.
Shed-Sum, I don’t really need to say anything else and every Meshuggah fan would agree
You know it will be a good video when it is over half an hour.
Honestly, I think the recording was about 50 minutes, I could've literally gone on longer.
