comic books to avoid in 2025......all moderns books, there are no investments in them!!.......stick to GOLD SILVER AND BRONZE.....HIGH GRADE
CGC IS RUINING THE VALUE. Raw or nothing. Stop submitting books.
You really think raw is good, how will you protect the book then?
@danieljackson4965 plenty of options for that. Youve heard of glass right? Bags and boards...come on man...
Even popular books like Hulk 181 and New Mutants 98 dropped significantly in the last year, no book is safe if you spent a lot on it.
Seems like every book mentioned is just returning to pre pandemic prices. So the market is cooling off?
Man, I agree with you on those books. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to pull the trigger on the thunderbolts first appearance. I kept waiting and waiting….. now I’m still waiting!
Got curious after hearing about Guarded Laws of Money Manifestation, and now I’m hooked. Such a good find!
The eternals were never a thing. noone was big on eternals, ever.
I always liked Sersi & Black Knight in the Avengers. Eternals #3 is a book I like for Sersi's 1st appearance.
Great video point on. I feel very fortunate that I sold my invincible iron Man number 9 years ago and got top dollar for it when it was at the peak. Right now I'm looking at my Superman in action comics. Just thinking I had a little that new movie. Looks like it's going to be fire but in this market you never know. Love what you collect. Collect what you love
Don’t get me wrong, all these are garbage, always were. However, when you say “at on point this book sold for …” are you referencing the Covid comic bubble? If you look at those days, even the superstars look bad, that’s a poor comparison.
This guy has no idea what he’s talking about and he never did. He’s a spoiled kid who has a relative who owns a comic book store chain and has GIVEN HIM a ton of money and comics to start from. He’s consistently wrong and has very poor judgement about picking the correct comic books. Remember, he’s the guy who bought a TON of 9.8 eternals number one books around the time of the movie and lost over 90 percent of his investment chasing spec just because. Most of us don’t have money to just piss away like this guy so I wouldn’t listen to him. I never see him talk about anything rare or really valuable (any pre code horror stuff or any small print stuff or anything like that) and he just follows dc and marvel books basically. He’s more worried about tv shows and movies than he is about actual comics that would be worthwhile investments on their own without movies or tv shows.
@@ludotoyhunter8492 u couldn't be more wrong. But, each there own.
@@shawnmccann9762 you’re welcome to explain your position as I explained mine. I’m talking about past results and actual facts. You can look at his previous videos to see that. You’re just saying something but providing no evidence.
I attempted Spec collecting and found out I am not quick enough to send in my books to get graded and sold by the time the hype came and by the time I got my books the hype went so I was stuck with books that aren't doing anything. I went back to collecting shit I want that still carry value.
What kind of channel is this? Why are you telling people to avoid absolute batmam simply based on resell value?
He said he was done with comics last year after various price drops caught him out. Probaly had a credit card system in effect paying of one to another. Anways he's still here talking about comics. As is most people who get hit or caught out. Winners are positive and losers are negative simply facts. He won for a long time then lost big by hedging bets on the big boy keys.
We're all in this hobby mostly for money at some point if not always. A lot of channels contradict themselves claiming various other reasons but in the end were all tied in to a gamble and we all want to pay of a house car and grocery bill minium in life. I'm honest with myself and motives. Art will be great and pure in the future for sure. Unfortunately for us now in this time we're all gonna have to keep playing various games and comics is just one of many. Slight honest greed is good 😂
Maybe because it's trash ?
@JoeBagadonuts-pe8ls400,000 copies printed…will find tons of copies in collections forever…
@@jrson5000 because he's talking about resell value, and Absolute Batman is unlikely to go up in value very much. However, I'm liking the story so far, it's been pretty damn good.
Literally just sold that West Coast 45 yesterday. Lol.
Great info. Can you make one for books that you should get for 2025?
already done, comes out tomorrow :)
Avoid ALL brand new comic books. Buy ONLY vintage 0.25 cent BIN comics in your area. Don't tell me I didn't give you good advice.
How do you deal with the possibility of someone sending in one or more of these books to your up coming auction but yet they're getting bashed. That's a fine line.
Not disrespecting anything you say, but the way I see it, your graphs show that almost every book jumped during Covid and now are settling back down to where they were before Covid. The way I see it is if you bought books, especially graded 9.8’s during Covid, then yeah, you’re losing your butt. But if you didn’t buy into this, then your books are pretty much where they were.
Microphone on this particular recording is kind of low. Why doesn't it surprise me that the majority of these books are MODERN
I like the green font, it really pops 🎉
I solved my Vision problem, I bought both Avengers 57 and WC Avengers 45 about 2 years ago when the prices dropped.
Oh! I thought you were going to say
Captain Carrot 🥕 🐰 🥕
Instead of live action expensive versions/movies of a few of these titles, they should do/have done mini series animated shows in the style of the comic art they were illustrated in. Eternals in the style of Kirby could have been pretty cool. Maybe that new DC universe can do that with New Gods or something like that.
In my opinion 2003 was the final year that had true comic grails (NYX#3/Invincible#1/TWD#1) I have no desire to own anything since then, including UF#4.
These books are all down and basically bottomed out, so if a person wants these in their collection, why wouldn't it be the time to buy?
I agree.....NOW is the time to buy....assuming those books you want are AT the bottom. I'd probably wait another 6 months though...
It would be the time to buy if it's for your PC, but if your looking to get a heavy ROI or ROI at all these are not the books to acquire.
I got all my copies of Absolute Batman for cover price a day before release because my local comic shop is cool like that.
Absolute batman is great. If you got it at cover price, don't sweat it. I think he's saying don't spend 40 bucks on it
Great insights as always - good advice during the celebration season for folks who just got some holiday cash. Agree 100 on Absolute Batman; appreciate the video. Solid list. Hope you create list of books to acquire in 2025. Thank you.
I bought a 9.4 CGC Eternals #1 for $490 the year the movie came out. Stupid decision, mixed with FOMO and the desire to buy a graded book on the fly.
I bought a bunch as well, oh well
Man I’d hate to be the one who bought that Eternals at $3,000+. Ouch!!
How are you even comparing prices to 2021? Irrational. Its dead and gone, buddy.
As always, Great Vid👍
Glad I didn’t buy Absolute Batman #1 when FOMO was happening & people were selling RAW Mint copies for $60+.
I’ve said from the beginning, the print run & variation count on that book is outrageous. It’s a $1 book all day. $10 for mint & $50-70 for 9.8. At least that’s what it should be.
By the time Comic Tom is talking about a book it's probably to late to jump on and make a profit. It's probably a good time to sell if you have it already.
As for Captain Marvel get somebody hot in the Ms Marvel/Warbird costume for Secret Wars and we're back. Marvel knows it's true, every time they relaunch her they do a bunch of classic Ms Marvel covers.
Golden age superhero books to me are the best place to put investment dollars. There are affordable entry points for solid books with a $500 budget.
I've been meaning to check out your new album David. It is on my list of things to do. Congratulations.
thanks for the tips
I tried to sell an iron fist first appearance and the guy at the comic book store looked at it like it was complete trash. I wonder if that should be on the list! 😂
Depends. The definition of 1st appearance in the comic book world is kind a weird. Wolverine's 1st appearance in Incredible Hulk #180 or #181 is debatable. As is Red Hulk in Hulk #1 or #2. As for Iron Fist, some would argue it's his appearance in story in Marvel Premiere #15 or as a Marvel Value Stamp in Fantastic Four #144. 🙂
Condition could of played a factor?
@@shawnmccann9762 he did actually mention the condition. It was raw, but to me it was pretty good. Yeah, it was premier 15 or whatever.
So..if I own 2 of these, should I just keep them or sell them immediately? That's the question. Thanks Dave.
Got a Young Avengers #1 from my LCS last week, raw but 9.8 candidate - $40 - hell ya buy for me
Agree with most but Absolute Batman and Ultimate Spider-man have similar print runs to my understanding. Hasn’t put a ding in that book and AB has been more fun to read.
There are 2 types of comic collectors. Ones that buy what themselves like and those that buy what others like. If your collection consist of gender swapped rehashed heroes, obscure characters that most have not heard of or books with over 3000 copies on the CGC census, I find it hard to believe that you purchased those books because you enjoy and did your due diligence. People following the masses will always loose big in the long run. Invest in historically important, quality, scarce, good works of comic. A Black Female Ironman replacement will never be that.
What’s your thoughts on the Young Avengers 9.5 Variant?
How do you find out print run quantity?
Absolute Batman in the thumbnail made me click lol I love the Absolute series - all Absolutes (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash in 2025) are on my pull list I thought this was a video to say not to buy more of Absolute Batman in 2025 my local comic book shop hasn't failed me for MSRP $4.99 I am getting all of them, but I love to hold and read them as a casual fan first and collector second and it's super cool to see Absolute now at $50 I got two copies (one to read and one to collect) at cost.
I did the same thing. Thumbnail got me. Loving the Absolute Series myself. Mainline has been so ruined. It;s nice to see a newer take from the ground up.
@@Dev003x Agree so much!
It had a 400k print run. My video isn’t about the content of the book. Just that it’s not gonna go to the moon in value
@@ComicBookInvestments Agreed completely on that. On top of that we don't even know it the series is gonna have any legs. We at the crawling stage.
Love these videos!
Good! Now more people can own and read them.
I was just reading some of the comments you do realize even hulk 181 9.8 sold for more than $145,000 on Comic Link and the punisher was over $40,000 at one time a couple of years ago during Covid amazing Spider-Man 129, 9.8.
You underestimate the power of ABSOLUTE BATMAN!!!
Facts
400,000 copies printed…
most of these books aren't even interesting ..
First time seeing your channel, 10k plus subs, and yet you give barely any reasons why to avoid these books? Young Avengers is the new team book starting in January, and it has a ton of buzz in the community, especially those with kids. I think this list is valid, but also lazy just reading the market reports for a quick view
Absolute..........its the best thing dc has done in 20 years...easy. what a pessimist.
first appearance of Spawn or the first appearance of absolute Batman.......
Spawn
Everything peeked during Covid and has been dropping since. This is the way
I'm not sure I agree with you on Young Avengers 1.....
Absolute Batman is a great read. I buy it I cause I like it. Also if you’re buying comics as an investment you are wasting money. Buy stocks instead. Buy comics because you like them. If they go up great but the only people that make money is this guy who buys your collection for 30 cents on the dollar.
Where do get your graphs Dave?
I make them myself
Absolute garbage books anyway 😂 ASM vol 1 all the way
I respectfully disagree with your assessment of Absolute Batman 1. You left out an important detail. That 400K in sales includes ALL the print runs. The First Print only had a run of 250K. The fact it almost doubled in sales after the first run is a testament to its strength. It is both supply AND demand.
I think after the initial drop of this book, it will go down. Come back in 6mo to a year and it won't be worth what it is today
@@ComicBookInvestments When I run down my checklist of what a new comic series has to have to make it a buy and future key, Absolute Batman checks all the boxes. I mean, what else does a comic book have to do to prove itself a future key? It also was a runaway hit without any movie hype. I will mske a bold prediction and say the DC Absolute Universe will all go to film eventually. I think the overarching concept is a strong one. All the Absolutes have been really good so far. I think you will kick yourself if you don'tt have these books down the road. Your getting in on the ground floor.
This is dumb. Just buy books to read and enjoy.
This but clearly doesn’t read comics. I cant listen to the cadence if his speech patterns. The Absolute line lite ultimate will probably keep selling higher. Where did he get the print run numbers. Absolute spidey is over $200 a year later.
Buy comics to read. Comics you enjoy. Focus on those 2 things.
CGC, speck, and obsession with monetary value have nearly destroyed this hobby
Lol I pulled that 1st White Vision out of a dollar bin years and years ago when the whole West Coast Avengers run could be found in dollar bins. Actually, most of them still can.
Anyone who invests in ANYTHING Eternals deserves to lose their money.
OMG! WOW, I bought all these in 9.8 at .50 or $1 each out of bins or garage sales...are you saying I will not make my monies back! Aaahhhhh. ;p Some of the moderns have high prints runs along with 2nd, 3rd, etc... I have them and since I got them at the right price, I will keep them, and yes, out of $1 bins.
vision didn’t exist in the golden age. that was john drummond the original human torch an android.
#1B. UF4. Nobody cares about Miles Morales. Comic book history is littered with characters that take up the mantle and become nothing more than a footnote in comic book lore.
The Absolute Batman will plummet this year. I want to read them so I'll wait in the shadows......muwahahahahaha!!
Or get this. I know it's crazy and everything, but maybe buy what you enjoy and just have fun reading it?
Ever come to Florida? We should collaborate. :)
Ultimate Spider-man #1 (2.0) should of been on that list also.
That’s why I would only purchase any of these books raw. I picked up 2 Eternals 1 for $15 each different places NM condition
Anyway, Dave, you know I am a real marvel fanatic I even liked Madame Web yes, I like the eternal’s the only thing that bothers me is when they make a movie or show comedic if they turned it into a joke then I don’t appreciate that at all. I can honestly say thank God I didn’t buy anything during Covid because whoever bought comic books during Covid if you try to sell now you lost your balls.. let’s take a sample. Right before Covid not too long before I picked up tales of suspense 39, 8.5. For only $5300 at the Jacob Javits, New York, comic con and two or three years ago Comic Link sold this book for $120,000. The next copy sold for $99,000.. now everything is down to where it should be. It’s only about $70,000 but if we all sold during Covid you wouldn’t have to work for a living. Anyway I have not worked in years and I was in the restaurant business I bought comic books before they spiked.. I still buy, but I really have no income. I just picked up famous funnies.212 raw copy for only $800. It’s not that bad shape. I got it on eBay..
When someone tells you they know what's going to happen, they're lying to you. Don't listen to liars! Buy the dip!
Love comics for the art and stories and the commercial consequences be damned. I know art is an investment but should all of modern life be reduced to a mere transaction. Comics are a great gate way for the young to read, expand their horizons creatively and graphically and to open the mind to different possibilities. Dave you’re a cool guy but you’re missing the point of what comics really are
I'm just not a big fan of current comics because most of them are in higher print runs and wont have the same long term value as the old stuff. I did buy a first appearance Harley Quinn because it was in a complimentary series of a main book (Batman) that was lower print and that character isn't going away.
Ya the high print runs are just too much for long term. Since everyone keeps it in perfect shape
@ComicBookInvestments yeah people commonly think everything will be a collectible. It's not like the old days where you were just fortunate to find one of something in any condition. Sadly people keep things in their drawers for years thinking they are storing a gold mine.
With very few exceptions, comics that are not rare will never be valuable.
Are you wearing a pride tshirt?
Also all something has to happen is something super popular influence says this book is the goat prices skyrocket IMAGINE taylor swift says she into comic now and eternals is the greatest and BOOM! now that garbage " is worth millions
Shhhhhh..I'm trying to unload a bunch of Absolute #1 books I found in a cheapie bin.
This video probably brought down the value of my books by your influences alone. As punishment, I want you to give me a Hulk 181 in a CGC 8.0. Ill come meet you.
hahahaha
Please keep telling people to avoid good books so I can continue buying them cheap for my personal collection cuz I don't buy to sell I work a cook job full time to payy books F* buying selling and working just to get a nicer copy! Lol
I’m glad that I dumped all my Champions books when I did
I guess Ultimate Spider-man #1 is not so far regarding the prints count
I own two on this speculation list.
I like Young Avengers 1 still, lots of firsts, Kates a great character, good book!
I think the West coast avengers is as shaky as the walking dead. Better to buy vegetarian sausages 😂❤
Mark my word, Absolute Batman 1 has a chance to be the new UF4. Worst case is NEW 52. Not a case cost book. I spec the book to be $120-$150 for a slab 9.8
I hope so but, seriously doubt it. Large print run and it's not a new character like miles was just a different version of Bruce Wayne, imho.
Few years ago everyone was saying these are the books to get for future lol guess not all these reprisals of characters except maybe miles even his are not worth getting
All but 1 book on your list are Marvel. I have to agree, not being a hater, but the MCU, imo, has hurt its comic values more than its helped - and I don't see that trend changing. If you missed Absolute Bats 1st run, I'd pick up a later printing just for the read, its been stellar so far.
🎯The MCU is the reason all these books and comic collecting in general over the past decade exploded. Most of these books were cheap as hell before the MCU. Your wrong.
🎯Also, DC has been a dumpster fire for the same decade. What did they do to the price of DC books??????
@@versewonderstrikes5353 No need to be triggered just bc your beloved company is a dumpster fire filled with gay writers and artists.
I wouldn’t sleep on Young Avengers too long. Yeah, it might bottom out, but too many firsts to flat out ignore.
And I find it hard to believe Iron Man 9 wouldn’t go up if the Iron Heart show turns out to be a hit. At least explain why you feel that way…just saying it won’t and saying “ no, no, no” is much much of a supporting argument.
The biggest mystery is why any of these books are selling for more than cover price.
Keep in mind that this is the same guy who said that comics are recession proof because they always go up 😂What a clown.
yet….you are here……..you’re here….
@@J_Eusebio False correlation. You might as well make things up like Dave 😂
Dude, if you genuinely believe Dave said that then you definitely heard him wrong.
@@mrtorrance1263 Don't take my word for it. Look up "Comic Books Are About To Become Worthless!?" and listen for yourself, uploaded June 3, 2022. I'd post a link but YT censorship. Note how he cherry picks his data, with the overall implication that comics are recession proof. I was collecting heavy during the GFC, so I tried to correct his thinking, but he deleted my comments. Your boyfriend is a closed minded novice.
@goldeneastgun Boyfriend? My thinking now is that he deleted your comments because of weird shit like that 🤷
What kind of character is the Vision anyway? Poorly defined powers, dumb name... boring AF.
You're wrong.....about all of this.....where do you get your info? Put the camera away kiddo, this ain't it.
How do you figure he’s wrong? You still believe shuri and captain marvel going back to $3000 a piece? 😂
