Is Running Wheel Spacers on Your Vehicle DANGEROUS!? | Toyota GR86 Install

  • 👋 In todays video we install a simple part that is also effective in changing the stance of your car! Especially when you have a stock vehicle! We are installing the Eibach wheel spacers from Fitment Industries! I decided to go with 20mm for the front and 25mm for the rear! For the 2023 Toyota GR86, the wheels are a square setup, meaning all four tires are the size dimensions, and so with that, I did want the rear tires to be spaced slightly farther out, because of the fender design in the back vs up front. This is an easy installation that anyone can do, and you can effectively use your stock setup and run it like this, or until you are ready to go with different wheels and tires, you already have a good idea of what wheel dimensions you would need to go with! Stay tuned for the suspension video coming that will really make these spacers worth it! With the stock height though, it looks much better already!
    When you are installing wheel spacers, there is a proper way to do this. You want to make sure that you torque the bolts and add some loctite, and also be sure to check them periodically. Anytime you have the wheels off, check them, or make sure to write it down that you should check them atleast once a year. There is a proper way to stay safe and use wheel spacers. This isn't the first vehicle that I have used them.

    I ran 2 inch on my wide body brz for a bit before my wheels came in . I would not recommend going that big for anyone but smaller sizes never had issues.

    If it’s hub centric and not a crazy size , you can safely run it

    Do lowering springs degrade ride quality that much?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  10 месяцев назад

      Over time lowering springs could. Coils would be a better way to go, but springs are a good option on a budget.

    Do the factory closed end lug nuts work with the spacers? I am going to use 20mm front and back on the factory tires and rims. Any input is really appreciated

      Yeah I used the same stock lugs for these.

    Quick question tho. If all of the spacers and Hubcentric is all done properly. Will this still damage the Wheel bearing ?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Месяц назад

      No. Doing good spacers like these will be fine. It's when people install non hub centric spacers they got off Ebay on their 200k mile car and then complain the bearing failed. Those are the people that have the issues

    Do you think if I go 30mm I’ll need to adjust the camber?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  9 месяцев назад +1

      Probably. This is as wide as I'd want to go. Anymore you'll lose traction with aggressive camber

    why 20mm for the front and 25mm for the rear? great looking mod by the way !

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  9 месяцев назад +1

      I mentioned that in the video. 25mm up front wouldn’t be flush, they would rub being that far out.

    how safe is it to use the stock studs for this large of a spacer? id think it would be safer to replace them with something stronger?

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 месяца назад

      This isn’t a large spacer so the factory bolts worked just fine! Plenty of room to tighten them properly.

    • @caesarsandwich
      @caesarsandwich 4 месяца назад

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed I see online that the stock studs have a reputation for being weak. debating on arp studs but it looks like a hassle to replace them.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  4 месяца назад

      @@caesarsandwich yeah that’d be a bit of work. However there’s no more pressure on the stock ones with the wheel spacers then without.
