  • 👋 In todays video we discuss everything you should know when it comes to installing wheel spacers on your vehicle! For my 2023 Toyota GR86, I decided to go with 20mm for the front and 25mm for the rear! For the 2023 Toyota GR86, the wheels are a square setup, meaning all four tires are the size dimensions, and so with that, I did want the rear tires to be spaced slightly farther out, because of the fender design in the back vs up front. This is an easy installation that anyone can do, and you can effectively use your stock setup and run it like this, or until you are ready to go with different wheels and tires, you already have a good idea of what wheel dimensions you would need to go with! Stay tuned for the suspension video coming that will really make these spacers worth it! With the stock height though, it looks much better already!
    When you are installing wheel spacers, there is a proper way to do this. You want to make sure that you torque the bolts and add some loctite, and also be sure to check them periodically. Anytime you have the wheels off, check them, or make sure to write it down that you should check them atleast once a year. There is a proper way to stay safe and use wheel spacers. This isn't the first vehicle that I have used them.
    There are pros and cons to any aftermarket part that is installed on a vehicle, but with a proper installation, the cons are minimized or even negligible and won't be something to "worry" about!

    Interesting. Stuff I didn't know. Less costly than new wheels as you mentioned. Glad it's making a real difference too.

    Are you planning on changing out clutch spring or just removing? I read some like and some don’t. Just got my gr86 and clutch is slightly tricky at times for smooth 1-2 shifting.

      Honestly I haven’t had any issues to think about that, so not messing with it!

      I installed the mtec clutch spring and smooth shifting is a breeze now.

    Hey man. I have the 2017 gt86 with 26k on it. I have eibach pro lowering springs and 20/25 f/r eibach spacers coming today. I was thinking about sending the spacers back tbh. Did u wire brush the hubs before putting the spacers on and was there any need to trim the original wheel bolts or did they fit fine with the 20/25 spacers? I’m keeping the oem wheels for now but running 215/45/17 tyres. If I keep them I’ll add the lock tight as well. Thanks for making the video now I don’t know what to do haha!!!

      Did you have to end up trimming the wheel studs with your 20 mm offsets?

    • @El_Rebel88
      @El_Rebel88 Месяц назад

      @@dwalls8520 no the oem nuts fitted just fine with the 20 and 25mm spacers. The wheels now sit perfectly flush and handling is unaffected if not better, although I did add -1.5 camber and a slight adjustment of the front arb shortly after.

    If you go back to a correct offset, you have the same scrub radius. If you dont, well, ew

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  9 месяцев назад

      What’s the correct offset?

    • @doriangray2347
      @doriangray2347 9 месяцев назад

      @@BrosFOURRSpeed the correct offset can only be measured by A. Finding the center of a tire’s contact patch. And then B. Drawing or visualizing a line from the top of the struts tower past the ground. Most likely the scrub radius will be a few millimeters wider than dead zero for safety. I would assume? that Subaru has that scrub radius set perfectly. It would be interesting to see what their number is and why. Currently, your set up feels tighter most likely due to the wheels now being able to exert more force on the steering wheel as the scrub radius is fuggled to the extreme. However, the good part of what you have done is to stop the tires, which are narrow, from folding excessively in turns which gives less of a squirm sensation and maintains a more consistent contact patch. However, it is probable that the strut systme can no longer quickly respond to impacts and therefore bobble more on bumps. However, the original scrub radius is not known here

      @@doriangray2347 Interesting. Engineering Explained did a good video on wheel spacers a few years back, got into some of the physics and stuff.
