- Chelsea’s Wasp Rickman Metisse is one of the most meticulous builds we’ve seen, and it’s her first attempt! If enthusiasm, passion and a proper account of the process floats your boat then you need to watch this.

out of all the bike shed builds, this one's the coolest. Chelsea's knocked it out of the park.
This bike, it's owner/builder and her story is the most authentic video of its kind I've come across.
I thought that this type of quiet and reserved brilliance was lost to this day and age. Bravo I say, Bravo! Stupendous achievement, in every respect.
@Jon Hodder - I agree. Well said. The style and details are awesome. Love the colour too but I wouldn't want any signatures on it. Her personality matches the bike.
@Josh Rick - lol. I did watch her kick-it-over three times. ha ha
I could not have put it better !
Agree, signatures a no-no!
Hope for the future.
Agree 1000%!! Coming from a designer’s perspective, I thought I have seen the most beautiful bikes throughout the years (Brought Superior, Zundapp K800, several cafe racer builds, etc.). But this. This is one of my new favorites. And such a beautiful and simple presentation. Bravo indeed.
I thought the bike looked properly minimalist and old school, and the sound, WOW! Damn fine work young lady!
This isn't a bike.....this is ART !!!.....love it.
That’s the Rickman brother‘s creation.
This is hands down the classiest looking bike I've seen in this series so far. Period.
fully agree
Totally agree. And I really love those signature! wow, just wow
Chelsea is the 'classiest' looking thing on this vid. !
@Peter Anderson Very Tidy... we must be about the same age those were my first bikes as well....
akshay kr ABSOLUTELY!
you did a good job on the bike, it looks great. I had one back in the 60's on my 1967 650 triumph TT special racing bikes was the time of my life, even met Steve McQueen at one of the racetracks
What was he like?
We just restored our '65 MKIII Rickman Triumph. I heard it run for the first time in 40 years, and it was my birthday. It may be the only bike of its kind here in the south of Chile.
I have a 2 minute video of that special day when it was awakened , and it sounds even more beautiful now!
I watched this video for the first time about week ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about this bike, I think it is one of the most beautiful bikes I've ever seen!!!!
Thank you for sharing this design and build with us. Thanks to your Dad for supporting your passion , and enabling the 'next generation' to continue the appreciation of an iconic lifestyle. You have to be the luckiest biker in Britain, maybe the world ! Your Dad is the easily the luckiest Dad. Cheers and continued happiness your way.
A beautiful, beautiful bike, with a great sound!
What I like is that nothing has been done "flash" just to look fancy. No fancy paint, just because you can, no gold plated or anodised bits just because you can. Instead, you have a practical, beautiful bike. To go by the old adage, if something looks right, then it is right. And this bike certainly looks just right.....
Yes, your comment begs one from me, about how the morons and the drooling idiots destroyed thousands upon thousands of the good old motorcycles back in the 50s and 60s in order to chop or customize them. Drooling idiots, one and all. A chopper has terrible brakes, it does not lean into Corners it is simply a piece of s***. Only if you maintained the frame geometry, were they good enough to be returned to stock, and taken away from the chopper morons. I am sick to death of looking at custom motorcycles that have cost thousands and thousands of dollars to build, and the realistic value of the bike has been cut in half.......... now to prepare for the hordes of angry Chopper Builders who are going to respond....
Wooooow! So impressed. So many cafe racers shy away from the chrome now days, my bike included. You did an excellent job.
When she started it up...oh, yes, that's a Triumph! Mine was a 1966 500cc twin with single carb. It was a mess but two mechanics with their own shop got it right and it would pull right out from under you. Hers is beautiful and she has done an astonishing job with it.
By far my favorite motorcycle so far on this website!!! It has everything, great build story, great history, Rickman frame and autographs, Triumph engine, forks, hubs, headlight (killer rock guard), beautiful bodywork, excellent craftsmanshipk!!! And references to Steve McQueen's (King of Cool) bikes!!! You Killed It on your first build!!! You other wannabe bike builders take note of this bike!!!
When I looked at the bike and realized you built it the first word that came to mind was RESPECT and to add another BEAUTIFUL
This is one of the bikes I've wanted since way back in the 60's. Awesome build!
I sure wish I could find a gal like Chelsea to ride with here in USA.
This is just a KILLER restore with a great back story to her dad and Steve McQueen. Bravo! Stunning bike!
What a great walk through of a true albeit pricey shed build. You should be very proud. A pat on the back goes out to your dad too. I love the improv parts, and all that spit and polish rather than bolting on so much of the generic stuff you see on other builds. I'd love to see it on a visit to BSMC but if you're like me you wouldnt let it out of your sight. Well done again. I also think its my favourite.
Chelsea when you started your bike it was the best bike I have heard in years. Thanks for all your hard work in bringing back classics like the Rickman.
Sometimes you can just look at a bike and imagine how awesome it will sound, but this was better! Congratulations on such an amazing build.
This is one of the nicest bikes I have ever seen. EXCELLENT JOB
Right proper parenting, this. Rickman were rare in my day. This one is stunning as is the owner. Brilliant.
Beautiful bike Chelsea. Keep up the great work. I love your passion.. John
I just wanted to say that you guys have really inspired me with your videos recently. Last fall I was pretty down on riding and I sold my Triumph Scrambler. Too many scares for me on the road. I know that is part of the game, but I never had a serious accident and decided that is how I should leave it. I do still own a '74 Honda XL 175 that my dad and I bought many years ago and restored together. It has sat in a shed for six or seven years since I started riding "large bikes" on the road. I have been watching your videos of regular bikes and riders this winter. These owners are proud of their bikes and the work that went into them. Especially Chelsea here, she did a great job and you can see how proud she is. All this has reminded me of how proud I was when my Honda was finished and I could finally go out and explore the woods and roads. This spring I am resolved to get that motorcycle out and buy a trail permit for it. I can stop riding on the road but that shouldn't stop me from enjoying riding! Thank you for the videos and I will continue watching. You do a great job. Stay safe and have fun everyone!
you and your bike are AWESOME
Absolutely off the hook. Maddddddddddddd love for what you've achieved here. Big big respect to bike hut
✊🏾
Great project!! Nicely done! Just love it. You truly put your heart into this project, and the story that went with it made it really special! Thank you for sharing!
Looks more like a hybrid than any specific make. Very nice looking. So is the owner. Kudos all around.
A lifetime ago I had a 1970 Triumph Tiger 650, loved it...I was drooling through this whole video, that bike is perfection or as close as one comes to it.
Smiled all the way through this for some reason.
Chelsea, I absolutely love your bike, been admiring it while it’s been here at the ‘Shed. The whole thing is perfect and those pipes are 👌
This is most definitely the coolest bike in The Bike Shed. Gorgeous looking machine, awesome story and the most badass girl there. She could not have owned a more iconic bike. Bravo!!! I also loved the format, with all the details on the bits and pieces and how everything came to life.
If this bike was mass produced and for sale to the public, I wouldn't be able to resist buying it. Very cool!
This is the best bike I have seen here yet.
Nickel plating says it all. Fair play to ya that is one gorgeous lookin bike. Sounds wicked!
i think i'm in love with your bike & you, that sound from the pipes at the end was gorgeus too.couldn't imagine your bike looking better with anyone sat on it but you, WOW!
I always like it when people build for then self. Something more pure comes out. Just love it.
This is the best bike I've seen on this channel (and there have been some fantastic bikes on here). Everything is just right.
My favourite build on this channel!
Actually built in my opinion properly.
I’ve seen some roadworthy shockers.
Brilliant bike....beautifully built!. Everything about it is just right, built with knowledge and passion....sounds great too!. Cheers, Steve
I own '73 Kawasaki Z1 and a '69 Honda CB750 among other classic Japanese bikes but man, this build ticks all of my boxes. Well done!
One of the best rebuilds I ever seen.love it,amazing!i am 75 and rebuilding old Honda Dino's 50cc 2 stroke.parked my Triumph...and having a blast.........having 2 I ride one and one hope to drag race the other.Best time under 10 sec.wins.not easy when all the kids are 13-20 years in Thailand.....life is riding and building...super thanks to you!
By far my favorite motorcycle so far, it's a credit to you. A brilliant job and your first build. A very cool bike and a very cool lady with great references to Steve McQueen's (The King of Cool) Thanks for sharing. Cheers
My compliments on a beautiful bike !!! You have a right to be proud. I know your Dad must be ! Cheers Chelsea.
A scrumptious build! The sound! OMG The sound! The big bad British Twin! There's nothing like it!
That's quite possibly the most beautiful looking and sounding bike ever made.
Pure class. This lady needs to build for a living.
@Handsome White Devil What? You dont think she can do it?
@@ChrisTian-lf2oh She bought a kit and put it together, she didn't 'build' it as much as everyone here is thinking. Still a very nice bike and all but it's nothing your average person with a wad of cash couldn't do.
@@elobiretv exactly. cleaning parts and bolting together does not a "BUILDER" make lol
Wow beautiful bike 😎👍 so good you and your Dad get shed time together.
Didn't expect it to sound like that! Up until that point I said to myself "that's a clean ass bike, cool", but when you fired it up, I fell in love.
I'm old. I own a Bonneville. I watch The Motorbike Show etc with Henry Cole, and so aware of these bikes. I haven't got the money or the length of life left to save but-I want one! Chelsea is of course delightful, a breath of fresh air, gorgeous!
Awesome bike, so well put together with such amazing attention to detail!
Fabulous bike - incredible built - Total quality
You are one very clever, lucky young woman! Well done!!! I was only talking with a friend of mine yesterday about this particular model! I’m in Australia & an absolute Steve McQueen nut🤪 I have a1968 Ford Mustang GT390 fastback still LHD. I have the Triumph Steve McQueen Great Escape 2012 replica bike. Only 30 here in Oz. And I’m fortunate enough to have the 2018 Bullitt Mustang, but I think you’ve trumped me with that gorgeous Rickman! I’m so happy for you & even more so because of your passion! Your dad must be chuffed!!!👍🏼😎 P.s. I follow Chelsea...the EPL football club🤭
I smile the whole video because of her cute voice, her voice is like my little brother talking while trying to stop crying. The bike sick too
the exhaust sound is amazing!!!
I have english subtitles on all the time, and when she started the bike this came up: [music].
Indeed...
if you like the sound, then here is the extended version: RUclips video: Ricky Roper aboard 1965 500cc Triumph Metisse
To the 179 guys who should have gone to Specsavers, thank you for trying. It’s the thought that counts...!
Chelsea, you nailed this bike. It’s a delight to find one awesome bike amongst all the passé wasters with those silly Bermuda Triangles of lost opportunities behind the carbs, acting as proof that they’ve never seen a real café racer.
Every detail is impressive. Thank you for sharing
My brother had a Rickman in 73. It came with a 125 Puch. He raced it. I was 13 and I went to all his races. I loved that bike. The frame was soo nice.
Amazing job, well done. Sounds amazing too.
If you like the sound, then here is the extended version: RUclips video: Ricky Roper aboard 1965 500cc Triumph Metisse
What a fantastic bike. An absolute one-off. There is a LOT of elbow grease in those shiny bits!
This is handsdown the best looking Steve McQueen matisse...great authentic built and man that women has really good story for it the detailed job alot of things are from Royal Enfield g2 1959 and man that thump when it starts the best sound on idle watched this video so many times great built really loved it keep the videos comming great channel thumbs up.
"Let's take the bike outside and see how she sounds..."
First kick pure Triumph!
Well done superb job spectacular machine!
What a cool looking bike. Sounds great !!
I summoned the spirit of Steve Mcqueen and he told me to give you a thumbs up from him. I agree with him , but RUclips only allows me to give one thumbs up.
Ba Steve would jump it and end up in Barbed wire surrounded by Nazi's .. haha
What an amazing build/story/ adventure....love it!!!!!
Lovely. The bike is also amazing! Never seen a Metisse in person sadly. A perfect, motorcycle. Yours my dear,is the most stunning example I have seen. Lithe, athletic, good color, stance, and presence. For me though, the nickel plated frame adds right touch. Reminiscent of a Brough Superior. Outstanding job. Ride the hell out of it!
It's a really beautiful build and sounds great , congratulations and a job well done . 😀
Beautiful bike, really built for business and it sounds awesome, great work young lady, you certainly know your stuff, keep them comming.
that the prettiest , sweetest sounding bike , a bit of rolling art , smashing job there Chelsea !!!!!
Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your passion just for a moment! I cannot imagine the feeling you had when you first started the engine. Beautiful bike.
I love this bike, fave of the series a really amazing machine.
I actually NEED this bike, I'm 52, balding and got a beer belly and I also have low esteem so this bike would make me cool again
meh....McQueen had quite the belly when he died too....turns out, he should have accepted it.
Matisse are alive and well just outside oxford, and sell these.
bonkey dollocks --- Or buy a road bike, bet into cycling and I guarantee you'll loose the beer belly in a year. ;)
@@RR-dj8rt I've got low self esteem and find the world outside my house a frightful place
@@RR-dj8rt oh sorry forgot to mention I'm a hoarder with agrophobia, my house is full to the rafters with crap, a bit like Mr trebus, so I have to live in the garden but don't like going outside so I sleep in the kennel.
Love your connection with your dad. And the bike of course.
Awesome... Awesome story, legacy....and whatever the final cost for the build, especially when you know the final value... And between bike lovers, it's like a fairy tale... And I love the way like, whatever people says... She wanted a break light, she put the right one... Etc.... And it's like the continuation of her dad's bike....
Totally inspired by this build - top work that’s a beauty
Very nice bike indeed, credit to you.
Beautiful build with a lot of attention to detail! Love the sound of those old twin Bonnies!
And here I am, patting myself on the back for pressure washing my bike and oiling the chain... this is spectacular, I gotta get motivated...
That is an awesome bike. Very well done!
I'm in love. That bike's awesome too. Nice job. ;o)
RUclips was created for this type of video ,it is an example of passion focus ,commitment ,,what a wonderful bike fantastic work well done ,,in the process of refurbing my bike and the spoke wheel people may be contacted ,,,,great job Chelsea !
Chelsea.... you and your dad have much to be proud of ! The bike looks FANTASTIC and the craftsmen who helped with the specialist components have created some magic to help with the project. I'm sure that you will be keeping this wonderful machine for many years to come..... and when you decide not to ride it..... please just keep it. I call this machine mechanical art ! many regards, gerhard (Melbourne Australia)
Beautiful bike and the sound is like a lion roaring at you. Just wow.
Brilliant, sounds killer \m/
Got a soft spot for scrambler pipes, wakes up this whole build , she has had some good mentors and perfected her skills.. great build..
You've done some great work there, Steve McQueen would have loved it, fantastic job, hope you are very proud of yourself . . .
Love the fact that the legendary Rickman brothers have autographed it, that is the best possible finishing touch. . .
That is so good. Just so good.
Holy shit I think I'm in love. Great bike Chelsea - have seen one example here in Australia. Didn't know what it was at the time so thanks for the history of the bike.
What a wonderful replica of the great Steve's bike, iconic job Chelsea❤
Absolutely beautiful bike. I salute you and your ability. I'm in the US and do remember the Rickman. I'm so very impressed with the way you put it all together. Thanks for a great look at an incredible classic bike. Ride free and safely.
I can visualize the late great Steve McQueen smiling down from where he is right now...!!!
O M G, that sound is brutaal! :O
Amazing that You are as is the Bike !!
Cheers to those involved in This Grand Project...👍🏼👍🏼
Your Father wud be a proud Man , inheriting Rider's genes in You !!
Don and Derek Rickman signature On Tank is the most cherished symbol this bike wud boast about !!!
Ride On n On ...
Loved the Pic at 1:26 👍🏼
Heck yeah!
I love the touches that you did to this machine, making history fun!
Cheesus H Bloody Freaking Christ that's a stunning build... Congratulations. Pleasxe tell me we'll be able to see that in London's event ?
Great job, awesome to see a passionate build with a real family story at it’s heart. Looked lovely in the Bike Shed; colour reminds me of the UK military aircraft grey, but way more shiny and less stained with oil. Who reconditioned/rebuilt the engine?
Love this bike. I understand the Rickman Metisse is being built again in a shop in England. By far the most stunning bikes in the world.
It’s always been built in England check out wasp motorcycles xx
well done Chelsea it you did an amazing job its sooooo..... beautiful! i absolutely love it! love the color, the tires, the little details, the frame, pipes etc etc its wonderful!!!! cheers!!
Well done Chelsea and Dad (for all the guidance)
"its a BEAUT"
This bike has a soul
Chelsea, that is a fantastic bike and a great story. Love all those beautiful brackets and hand made parts. Pure class. No current bike could ever make you feel as good as that bike does. You should put it on a Air Canada plane at Heathrow and fly on the same plane to Calgary in Canada and then ride it down the Great Continental Divide trail to New Mexico, the Americans would go crazy, you would be treated like Royalty and deservedly so because you are a rare star!
Britishshooter awwww thank you. Maybe one day I might just do that!!
Might have bust my jaw as it fell to the ground! What a gorgeous bike. Well done Chelsea!
