    I witnessed (thru your channel of course) when you started speaking about Merida, then the exploration, the idea of real state, the process of buying, the planning of the project, the start of the project, the construction phase and now the completion of the project. It was a long way but congratulations to you and your family for accomplishing your goals.

I have rentals in central Texas, but very interested in doing something like this in the future. Congratulations!!!

      Thank you so much for your kind words! We are so excited, and being able to share this has been really fun. We've met with the rental team, but it's the first time I haven't managed a rental myself, so I'm hoping for a good experience! Fingers crossed.

    Wait wut -- where's the BBQ?
    So is the 2d floor the AirBnB rental?
    It's a really BEAUTIFUL home. Congrats -- and kudos to Henry!

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  2 года назад

      The BBQ was something I noticed almost immediately, so they will be adding the propane/gas line soon... then we get the grill. I'm excited to grill some steak!
      Right now the entire house (except for the master bedroom) will be an AirBNB rental, but there is only one entrance from the street. If we're living down there we could have that as the "setup" for renting, but more than likely we'll just enjoy the privacy when we're here. Also, one of the bedrooms upstairs will eventually also work as an office for me.
      Thank you so much, and I agree - Henry is awesome!

    Great video tour. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful home. Now the big question? How much did you pay? How much is your total investment? And how are you going to recoup your money? Thank you.

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  Год назад +2

      I'm going to do a video once we have everything in, and I've been promising it for months - it's my fault. I've been dragging around a Charlie Brown like cloud of injuries and sickness, that I'm very happy to say is almost over lol. That being said we're in around $500k, plus the furniture budget. As I've stated many times on the channel though, that is so far above what anyone would ever need to put into a house like this. We did everything for our own purposes, and had the ability to go over-the-top. One of the reasons I hate stating our "all-in" is that people think you can't get an amazing place unless you spend crazy money. We went with a top architect, put in solar, a large pool, courtyard, water features, kitchen, custom everything, and I look at it and think, "while it was expensive, it's really not when you consider what we have."
      That's a long way of saying the house is around $500k, then around $75,000 in all the other stuff.
      As far as recouping the money, we'll be renting out everything but the master bedroom. We've already had a family stay there for a week, and we have the first three months of the year rented out at around $4k per month. The home will pay for itself, and then when we retire, we'll rent it out if we're ever not there.
      Great questions!

      It's definitely a forever home, but I have to say that I can celebrate the 4th with inner peace. Each country has a rich history, but all lands have their dark sides as well. I'm fortunate enough to have homes in two beautiful countries that I love.

  • @izzylizama1
    @izzylizama1 2 года назад

    I’m looking forward one day buying property there. At least a condo or apartment in northern part of Mérida. What I understand the maintenance of homes is quiet expensive because of the weather so if I could get an apartment maybe I don’t have to worry so much. Well anyways, keep up the good work and enjoy Mérida.

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  2 года назад

      The maintenance is definitely a factor, which is why we moved away from the idea of beach living. That being said overall if you've built well, maintenance isn't that bad, but I understand paying the rent and not having to deal with the unexpected that comes with a house. When an appliance or air conditioner goes out, it's never a fun day!

    Wow! Congratulations, it is an amazing home! Glad that you and your family are finally enjoying it. It appears the two years in the making was worth the wait. I love the furniture through out the house. Would you be able to share the source and if it is located in Merida? I am in the process of buying a second home and would love to use some of the pieces, specifically the beds. Cheers!

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  2 года назад

      Thank you so much, and as tough as it was to wait for two years, it was definitely worth it when we got here! The furniture was sourced mainly through our architect who has had most of it custom built - Henry Ponce. We also used Calle Veinte for several pieces (thank you again, Henry), as well as most of the material used for cushions, pillows, sheets, etc. They had a few pieces as well, but I'm forgetting which was which lol. The outdoor fabric was Sunbrella, but we ended up buying it in the USA and shipping it here, as even the added cost to ship (still) made it less expensive. Outside of that, mattresses were Costco and some others were pieces we or Henry's team found online.

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  2 года назад

      I'm going to make a video breaking down the costs, so I haven't mentioned it on the channel yet, but we also went above and beyond, and you can buy a completed house for around $200k that is absolutely amazing down here. We also spent a lot of money on custom pieces throughout, so... that hurt a bit lol. That being said we paid more than double the price I just mentioned.
      You should see that video come up in the next week or so!

    How much to rent it?

    • @AlexanderFromKC
      @AlexanderFromKC  Год назад +1

      All of that information is located on Henry Ponce's website (hponcehomes.com/home/details/209/Nikky) OR you can go to AirBNB (bit.ly/CasaNymeria). We have a property management company that handles the home when we're not there. Thanks for asking!
