    Food & Coffee Shops:
-La Chaya Maya: Popular typical Yucatan restaurant. Food was pretty good. We picked the Los 4 Yucas (4 typical Yucatan dishes) to try. Our favourite dish was Cochinita Pibil. Price was 577 pesos (including a beer and margarita) equivalent of £29.
-Manifesto: Coffee shop with cool interiors, friendly staff, but average coffee. Good place to work or chill out. We visited twice!
-Taqueria La Lupita: 10/10 food and authentic Mexican vibes. We recommend the tacos and empanadas. Busy and you will need to que but really worth it! Featured on Netflix recently.
-Galeron Club de Cafe: 10/10 for coffee shop vibes. Best coffee we found in Merida and yummy brunch. Also visited here twice. So aesthetic and great place with good wifi to work. What we loved about this coffee shop was the walk there. It’s further out of the centre but this is where we found the cutest most colourful streets!
-Pan Montejo: Lovely little bakery for cheap pastries and super central!
-Manjar Blanco: This was our best meal in Merida. Typical Yucatan food. The BEST taco de cochinita. Was the equivalent of £17 for us to both have 4 tacos and a bottle of water each.
    HOTEL:
HOTEL HO: Right in the centre, incredible location and only £40 per night. Has a pool and super clean. Lovely staff, great wifi. Recommend!
    THINGS TO DO:
-Try get to Merida on a Sunday - they close off the roads from early morning to 12:30pm for bicycles to take over the city. So many markets, food stalls, live music & dancing.
-Do a free walking tour with Guru Walks. So much fun and so much history to learn about! You’ll visit all the main sights you’d want to see this way!
-Do a trip to Chichen Itza: You can find a tour to book really anywhere in the city - your hostel or hotel will likely also have a tour recommendation. Most of them seem to be around 1000 pesos per person (around £46) we haggled our way down to 900 pesos & we did search around. The tour includes your 2 hr bus journey there and back, a delicious buffet lunch, a trip to Valladolid, Izamal (Yellow City), Chichen Itza and Cenote Xcajum. You also have to pay in to Chichen Itza and the Cenote separately. Well worth the money to visit one of the 7 wonders of the world and all the other places too!
-There are free performances every single night at plaza grande Merida. So worth going to but go early as seats fill up fast!
-Hang out at plaza grande Merida at night and during the day. The ‘Merida’ sign is also here so go get a picture!
-Walk/ Cycle down Paseo Montejo: long street with so many fancy and beautiful buildings. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and shopping here too.
-Visit Monumento a La Patria: It’s just at the end of Paseo Montejo and it’s free to see.
-Explore Merida by foot and just keep on walking down streets, you’ll find the most incredibly aesthetic and authentic streets and homes. We met so many locals and everyone was so friendly. Our favourite area was nearby our favourite coffee shop Galeron Club de Cafe. It’s a very safe city to walk around during the day and night.
-Visit Parque de Santiago: This was such a fun market to visit and has the most yummy food at the stall La Lupita.

We used AirBnB and it was around 977pesos per night! We went for a middle ranged price for Mérida. You can get cheaper and equally more expensive, depending on what sort of accommodation you want.

It seems very unpleasant to see you use the sepia filter to show Mexico, leave stereotypes and show real images…. : (
