I was in the RADC. When I was in basic training (1990) a mate from civvy street sent me a letter with a picture he drew of me in a tank “Fighting The War Against Plague”. I might have to do a video on it this year as its 100th anniversary of the RADC
When i was in basic training in the 80s, when we went for our dental check ups 4 off the Scottish lads had either all their top of bottom teeth removed and ended up with dentures, all around 18 years old, and after you had to watch out when at the pub, because if you were not looking their teeth would be in your drink. Also another mate of mine was told he had to have all his teeth out and his teeth looked really good and white - he created a stink and refused, they were looking at kicking him out, but did allow him to see a civilian dentist who said his teeth were totally fine. The dental department eventually said they had a few under trained dental trainees who had made a few mistakes. I always wonder if they were the same ones who looked at the Scottish lads, since it was on the same day.
Had a youth taken out in 1965 by an Army dentist boys service Bury st Edmunds no pain relief assistant held my head he went in twisted it with some sort it thing and pulled . Never went to an army dentist ever again
Dental-a seriously critical capability. Dental casualties have historically comprised a certain proportion of non-battle casualties and you don't want your guys out of action because of a serious dental issue. If that soldier sent back up the line for a tooth or cavity issue, and is, say, the only ammo tech in the unit in that spot , you have a problem.

Best thing out dentists. Nothing worse than having a set of dodgy nashers & not being able to get them fixed.
