- Andrew Vo, 32, never envisioned himself joining the military until he saw his hefty dental school tuition price tag and learned about the Health Profession Scholarship Program-a way for Vo to have up to four years of his tuition paid for by serving the military.
“It was a no-brainer,” Vo said. “It gave me the chance to have a real shot of being debt-free, owning a house, starting and supporting my family.”
Vo was awarded the three year scholarship and paid for the rest of his program fees by borrowing $176K in student loans-an amount far smaller than his dental school colleagues. After four years of service, what he didn’t expect was how much he’d come to love being in the army. What initially started as a way to pay for school became something he fell in love with as he grew a deep appreciation for serving his country.

The Army Paid $300,000 Of My Dental School Tuition
The real question is why education costs 300K.
I hear you. The Air Force paid for my two associates, my bachelor's and my masters degree. On top of that, I was able to retire last year at age 45, took my military pension and moved to the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 to retire and live a stress free life. Thank you God for the US military.
People made fun of me for doing rotc but I graduated with zero debt, own a home, paid off truck and motorcycle, and working on my masters (which is free). I essentially work 730-430 its not a bad deal
This is dystopian military recruitment propaganda. We shouldn't have to resort to joining the military to pay for schooling.
So everyone is okay with the fact that school is that expensive???
School should never cost over a quarter million dollars. Absurd
My gaydar did not see the signs
Respect to all veterans who served, no matter how long it was! This country would be nothing without your sacrifices!
Its sad that you have to join the army unwillingly just to afford school
Did 6 years in the navy so they could pay for my education. Minus the chronic back pain, anxiety, & depression, it was worth it.
He’s so level-headed. I wish he was my friend. I could listen to his advice all day everyday.
Way to go, man! And thank you for your service.
His jawline is worth $300,000
This a true American story a dentist who joins the army to pay for school who choses to still serve and protect his country with dreams of opening up his own practice with his male lover it doesn't get more modern than that what isn't right about American is that millions of people have to suffer with student loan debts just to get education that should be free for all
