Never seen someone look so sad that they didn't have to pull a motor 🤣
Dont even own any of the cars on the channel I just enjoy the fact that's its car related 💪🏾
Same! I love evos and Subaru’s but don’t have any but his content is very entertaining! Great content everyday.
WOW that's nuts the amount of oil that was in there WTF!
How that's even possible?😅
Man I feel bad whenever my WRX dipstick is a little over full
Twice as much oil. Thats why they needed two oil temp gauges :)
Bro that shit coulda flooded the turbo and so much more when I saw that I was like wtf
Whoever did the oil change, you need to go back to 3rd grade.
Hilarious that someone put that much oil in the thing what an absolute moron
Edit: that guy just sold a perfectly good STI lmao
bet he just filed more oil instead for replacing it
That limp mode and check engine light is for your speed sensor! The trans isn’t able to read your speed and throws the car into limp mode(also why the speedometer doesn’t work). It’s a super simple fix, the sensor is located right under the TMIC on top of the transmission. Pop a new one in and it will feel perfect again.
need 25 min videos more!! that was great!
I love that you like to take broken STIs into your loving arms. Watched the last STI rebuild series with the black blob can’t wait to see how the black hawk turns out.
I think the oil overfill can cause the oil fumes go through the crank case ventilation into the intake and intercooler. And, golden wheels would look great I think!
shout out to the poor previous owner who sold it for overheating and all it needed to fix it A flat-head screwdriver...
Fr😂💀
If he sees this he’s gona cry
Lmao
😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣 dead
Don't forget the 17mm socket to drain 60% of the oil out. 😂😂
Bring back your Hawkeye sti!!!!! My all time fav car 😍!!! DO IT
There was a lot of oil and no oil catch can so it went strait to the intake. Clean it well and it will be 👌
Rafał o it has an AOS... it went back to the oil pan
Roberto Grimaldo yes.. an AOS isn’t a catch can. A catch can would be overfilling from all the all oil. The AOS is gonna end up sending some back.
@@robertogrimaldo5831 look at the hoses on this one. That model Crawford is just a catch can not a air oil separator with return
@@davids6106 it looks like this model based on the hoses visible is just a catch can. Crawford does make more expensive air oil separators with return but this doesn't look like the more expensive model
Jrhcustom I’m sorry but that looks like a V2 AOS for 02-07 STIs. Take a closer look throughout the video when he removes the IC. Devin also called it a AOS so...
Its first time you dont make so effort to fix a car!!!! nice Diagnostic dude!!!! Thanks for Videos sorry far away some days of the channel..... Thanks Regards
I admire how this guys just takes shit apart and not worry lol
An evo swapped subi would be just the thing to EXPLODE this channel. Lol probably won't happen, love your content you're a great mechanic!
Skills that Devin and I share: Putting waste oil back in a gallon jug.
These videos are therapeutic for me seeing that i love seeing subarus especially Hawkeyes
Mitsubishi owners looking on devin throwing evo wheels on a STI like what blasphemy
Funny both of those evos and sti generations stock wheels were made by the same company lol
Man hopefully it only was excess oil, good luck bro! The question is how the heck they didn’t know it had excess oil 🤦🏻♂️
@@slapdikkie8923 Wtf are you talking about
Slap Dikkie what do you mean ?
Honestly not a mechanic or nuts for cars guy but find this channel interesting AF
THIS IS A CLIP! No BS right to the work at hand.... Awesome one overall. Hopefully it gets back to this.
CHECK OIL CATCH CAN MUST BE FULL OF OIL!!!
That AOS if installed correctly drains back into the engine.
Intercooler is probably full of shit too, whole intake most likley
Burnt orange with gold flake in it with gloss black down each rib or spoke!!!!!! Sick
So the dude who sold this, must be sick at the minute.😬 a clip tightened and a inter cooler washed out.😂😂
That’s what happens when you don’t know anything about cars or just don’t have the patience for research ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
wonder if he'll ever call him and tell him or anything? like hey butt head, fixed your blown car with an oil pan, a flat head screwdriver and 2 cups of gasoline. lol.
@@UhhhSitrep yea its funny seeing these people who dont know anything and they go to the shops tell them car is smoking and overheating, the shop probably tells them its blown to make lots of money. Bud couldnt even check how much oil was in his STI after 3.5 years, probably wouldve spent a 1/10th of the 13k he whined about spending on silly cobb upgrades if he learned to do it himself.
I have no garage, no tools, no idea but I love watching this shit
Bro please make two videos of cars a day i love your videos hahaha from Australia 🇦🇺
25 min clip cant go wrong, enjoying this content!!
Its nice to see that i am not the only person that makes a complete mess when pouring oil.
OEM STi seats are so good
That's a lot of oil right there ......the owner just wasted this beautiful STI..... Didn't know how to take care of it.....anyway, it's in good hands now.
So satisfying watching Devin revive a car the right way.
That guy drove the STI for 3 years and never learned how to check their oil level.
ikr the guy seemed to be a tool😂
dumbass probably didn't know oil needs to be drained and replaced with new oil every couple thousands miles. prob thought its supposed to burn like gas. fucking dumbass
25 min video?!
hot daaaamn !!
awesome !!!
Devin scoring deals after deals man
the fuel cut is related to the ecu not relearning idle. lots of tuned subarus will do that, let it go through a couple heat cycles. Disconnect the battery for like an hour cold then start it with all forms of load off and run for 30min. After turn it off and run it with high load (ac, brights, radio etc)
Very well put together!! New subscriber just got my evo x and was happy to see that you live close by!! Been binge watching lately !! Took my car to English and got a full ets turbo kit to go with it now I am at 496 whp just cuz stock it wasn’t very satisfying!! Anyway great job on these videos
Use the accessport to do a roughness cylinder test 1-4 just to see if there is anything going on in there the vzlues should stay at 0. You shouldnt have much oil in the IC since it has an AOS. You should check the turbo for shaft play just to eliminate some stuff.
That’s insane bro thing was drowning in oil, I’m pumped to see how this one turns out
need to do a leak down test as well to rule out leakage through piston rings
When you getting a lift bruh
They things are not cheap
Neither is an evo
He could pursue a sponsorship with a lift company, he has the demograph to do so
I think he likes stands but I don't know just saying
A 2 post in the UK starts at £1100. Cheap really .
I think green wheels on the STI would LOOK SICK😎👌🏻.
You make great use of a 1/4 impact. I’m buying one just from watching you use it for everything 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
1/4 and a 1/2 inch impact guns + swivel sockets are totally worth the investment.
That body style is nice, 06 Sti
shoutout Dev for saving this mistreated STI
It actually depends where the head gasket failed. you can have it fail going into the combustion chamber causing the lost of coolant and over pressurizing the block to make it appear it is over full in oil. But the overfill does not help anything and can cause it to smoke till all the excess oil is burned off.
The front end need some love! Love the content 🤙
Loving the STI content i think those wheels in a satin bronze would look sick on the black 😍
You’re the master of fixing Subarus!
Love your video's, I just stumbled across your evo build series. And now I almost watched all the videos you posted now. You keep up the hard work bro.
Gonna be so happy for u if you fixed the oil issue already
"Barking down the wrong tree" lol
Ikr I've never heard someone say DOWN I thought it was UP
It is barking up the wrong tree lol
Wait what your guys dog doesn't climb up your tree and bark down at you?
Devin have you ever bought a car that doesn't need a front screen ? I feel the over fill on oil was the issue with smoking - I can also hear the Evo community up in arms you have put them wheels on the Subaru :) toss out all them worry gauges and get down to 3 center ones , boost - oil temp - oil pressure Good To Go GTG !
I hope all goes good with sti looks good for now no smoke
Oil gets in the intercooler on stock STI's from the crappy PCV system. The AOS is supposed to fix that, but maybe the AOS was installed incorrectly or it's flooded from so much oil being in the engine. With my iAG AOS I get zero detectable blow-by. I checked it after 8K miles and zero oil detected in the intercooler when there was tons in it before. If nothing else, it's a Subaru. Your car looks like it's vaping! lol Candy apple color chameleon colored wheels would be SICK!
I can't wait until you make this whip mint af
Could be the ringlands, they can be a problem on subies,if there's no catch can you can get a build up of oil in the intake also
LOVE FROM MALAYSIA 🇲🇾❤️❤️❤️
nothing upsets me more than an bad maintained sti, good thing we've got devin the sti/evo doctor💙🙏🏼
Idk if he addresses it later in the video, but the boost cut could be caused by the vehicle speed sensor code. No idea why, but when the speedometer stops working and it throws that code, sometimes it’ll put the car in limp mode or feel sluggish, or even run the radiators constantly. Speaking from experience with mine 🥴
the speed sensor gets corrosion from under the i/c water sprayer clean the contacts and the code will go away. its located by the trans dip stick/ fill tube. the fuel cut will stop its a safe mode without speed readings
i just put in a ej207 jdm sti into my forester turbo with the IAG street sump kit and windage tray ! yummy - special heads .
Sick man man looking forward to the next instalment an sti content
Blocked PCV could cause the oil from crankcase into intake through the turbo into the intercooler
The person you got that from treated the car like trash.....a shame really. Good thing you have it now.
Wished you live in the uk. You would defo be my go to mechanic. Subaru/ego guru 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Devin needs a lift and a nice oil change pan with the built in funnel. His content gets better every day.
Guy adds a Air Oil Seperator, puts double the oil, nah dawg thats not how it works
I personally liked the 04 better. Love the java black pearl on both though
Candy orange would look good on the wheels
If it’s truly got a blouch turbo on it that’s great! I had a blouch 3.0 dominator on my 04 blob eye and it boogied. Blouch is local to me here in Pa.
this amigo is a chingon 💪🏽 I follow you from Mexico Compa
That intercooler had a fair bit of oil in it.. Did you check to see if the catch can is full up? Bet your hands were itchy after taking that heat wrap off without gloves! 🤣 Great vid, loving the project content
Has a AOS. No can to drain. AOS reciruclates the oil and air back into the motor.
What he said^^^
Paint them as the same as the new STI Series white rims color (which is a dark bronze to brown color)
powder coat them gold black and gold looks good together
So theres literally nothing wrong with it? The dumb owner just put way too much oil in it?
I hope to see a wide body in the future 🤔
Being that full of oil will definitely hurt the turbo as the extra oil in the engine will block the oil return line so the oil cannot drain out the turbo
and meaning it will just pump the oil out of the turbo seals
Love the content... you still looking for OEM sti seats...cause I got a pair
Lol you scored a good deal dude. The previous owner definitely didn’t know nothing about car and you catch the opportunity at the right time. Congrats.
The ac compressor clutch burned on one side , do replace the clutch pulley assembly as well!
I think that running some seafoam into the bov vac line that goes into the intake manifold would've been good for cleaning all the oil gunk out from being overfilled. Not to mention the fun smoke show of the seafoam
Also what does that thing have for a tbe setup? She sounds damn good
Sti gang, been waiting for you to get one of these
I love you Devin! Mod the grey STI!!
Please remake the old STI it would be nice man, white on black
My STi also had an overfilling issue way back. It was smoking af too! Got it drained and it's back to normal!!
What a lucky buy assuming that it's just smoking because of over fill.
the one engine code it threw was for a speed sensor. doesnt mention changing the speed sensor at all jus keeps driving it like the sensor gonna fix itself after sitting for 15 mins lol. good job on cleaning out the oil tho
Great channel and car content. Keep it up!
I wish this was MY issue. Did a leak down compression test on my 07' hawkeye.......yeahh.....ringland failure in cylinder 4....
So typical day at a subaru shop ?
Yeah buddy. Get a new stage 2 iag motor, cooling mod for cylinder 4 and we back on the road this winter 😎
Been waiting from yesterday for this 😅🤣
Being an sti owner, I lose my mind seeing an STI in this condition
Yup and after that ppl say sti are junk ringland etc lol if you know nothing about car....dont buy and beat a STI
Boost solonoid gummed up with oil, clean out with brake cleaner
Confused that he's fixed it. Priceless
The seller said in the previous video that it was hitting boost cut because he had the upgraded turbo and stock injectiors
The speed sensor is what’s causing that “boost cut”/ limp mode
I’m loving the content man!👌🏼
Seeing this makes me want to learn 😭😫😩
Yeah school of automotive 🙌🏻
Cheap fix for the win, more money for mods 😎💪🏻
You can use petrol to clean the intercooler? Awesome content bro!
Of course. Petrol is solvent
Opposite Direction Thank U bro! Slowly learning new things every day! 🔥
Some stretched blitz 03 would look sick
The sti is known for having oil problems with it in the inter cooler and intake track. Even with an iag aos I have it in my 2018 sti. I bet Bobby’s has oil in her intercooler too
That was at 11,000 miles btw
The best YT channel!!!
