That last story, as a baker I can really relate. Too many people don't know how much time goes into baking almost anything. Well.... you don't need to downgrade. Just make the home router login password a secret and the fire up lower bandwidth QoS feature when you are not using it. This will drop the traffic drastically and when you want to use the internet just disable the QoS.
