    Mell, I’m sorry I know you’re not gonna see this but I’m new and I need help. I’m a 12 year old hijabi and my whole life I thought I had straight hair because both of my parents did, but recently I started noticing more and more posts by people who found out they had curly hair later in life and they were going through the same thing my hair went though, it’s also worth mentioning my grandma, aunt, and cousin, all on my dad’s side, have curly hair, my dad also said he used to have curly hair but he got a straight hair perm and eventually started cutting his hair too short to be curly because he didn’t like taking care of it. Anyways, so today I went into my bathroom, I didn’t take a shower, I just washed my hair with cold water, and I used my regular shampoo, I usually use the head and shoulders shampoo, the 2 in 1 dry scalp one with an almond on the bottle, for that reason I don’t use conditioner, anyways I washed my hair with cold water and used the shampoo then rinsed it out really quickly, and when I was done it looked kinda curly but I brushed it out and waited for it to dry and it’s looking more and more curly, although I’m still not sure if I actually have curly hair or if my hair is just straight and does that. I looked at some photos of my little cousin with curly hair and her hair seems to be 3a so that’s what I’m going off of and assuming that if I do have curly hair that’s the type I have. If I do have curly hair, then my curl pattern is extremely messed up because my whole 12 (in a few days 13) years of living I’ve treated it as straight hair, and now I’m very confused. I don’t know how to take care of my hair and where to start, I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I understand a little but in total I don’t. My dad never took care of his curly hair when he had it so he has no idea, my mom has straight hair, and my little cousin is like 2 or 3 and her mom doesn’t really take care of her curls either because her mom has straight hair. Im just really confused and don’t know where to start, is there a final way to see if I really have curly hair and if I do how do I start taking care of it and healing my curl pattern? I know you won’t see this but if you do, please help, and if anyone else has any tips please share them too! Thank you! I also wanted to say you’re really pretty and I love your hair, hopefully mine can be as healthy as yours one day!

      Something to try: while in the shower, after washing your hair, flip your head upside down and let the water pour on your head, then step away from shower head and take a little bit of conditioner, rub it btwn your hands and then "scrunch" this conditioner into your wet hair in an upwards motion while your head is upside down, then step out of shower and use a tshirt to scrunch out some of the excess water but not too much, then flip your head back and see what ur hair looks like...

      I would use a separate shampoo and conditioner if u can… maui makes a nice curly shampoo and conditioner that’s affordable also not your mothers brand also can be bought at Walmart or target … there are so many other brands but just two affordable ones. I straightened my hair most my life but then finally started wearing it curly in my 20s I have between 3b-3c hair and it took a long time to fix the curl pattern. I bet you would likely do good with a mousse If you’re 3a… both the brands I mentioned before make mousses you can try or other brands of course have them too.. just a thought 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hi Mell 😂, this is Mel, I had one of the best weekends for my hair this past July 4th to July 7th. Washed on Friday July 5th, and my hair still looked good on Sunday July 7th. I sweated A LOT in between -maybe that is why, my body moisturized my hair for me! The products I used after wash and condition were Miss Jessie’s Multi-cultural Curl Cream, then Giovanni LA Hold Styling Gel - quickly becoming my favorite Styling combo. I air dry overnight. I refresh in the morning Saturday with water just in my hands from the faucet and I dry my hands in my hair - then the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Marvelous Oil, tends to camouflage the frizz and give some shine. Just scrunch it in - I do not finger coil, never stays for me- my hair just on wavy 2b/2c side. Then my Sunday morning refresh was Garnier Fructis 10 in 1 Sleek and Shine. This, along with the other products already in my hair, gave me good volume and hold. Ready to wash tonight Monday. I wish I could win something, like a haircut from you, but alas I am in New York area- far from Oh Canada. I will look into getting on mailing list.

  • @shadowchsr79
    @shadowchsr79 2 месяца назад

    I am a looser wavy texture. I tend to consider getting volume a lost cause most of the time. Foam is one of my favorite refreshing products. I wish I could encourage more wave at the root, but my hair is also long, the longest layer a few inches below my shoulder blades, and I don't want to sacrifice that length.

    Have you or anyone else ever tried the brand curlmix? I just recently have tried the wash and go gel and the wash and go mousse twice now. I am used to gel that actually works on my hair, to be at least a little crunchy. These products are seemingly working well on my wavy/curly hair so far anyway. I am always hesitant to say that just after twice using. My wavy/curly hair after using those products are soft, no frizz nice looking wavy/curly hair. I guess I am used to a hard hold gel and/or mousse. I am wondering if you or anyone has tried the curlmix products. I bought them at Ulta beauty during their summer sale. The curlmix wash and go gel and mousse are regularly about $26 a piece. Like I said I got them on sale for $20 a piece. They have 8 fluid ounces in them.

    I've noticed after trying several times that is refresh with water it causes me frizz. I've tried to defuse immediately to minimize it. I normally refresh with extra gel and no water to minimize the frizz. I am ADHD as well lol that just means super brain power 💪😁

    Question after wet styling with a curl cream can you use a pomade (containing the ingredient polyqauternium) on damp hair to add hold and a cast instead of a gel???? I have wavy hair btw 2b-2c.

    This isn't helpful, but for hair color and styles, I firmly believe in doing whatever makes you feel joyful. It sounds like a change (or changes) would do that for you, and you probably have ideas, so go for it! Tangentially related: I also believe in half-birthday celebrations. Yours falls near the end of January, which can be a dreary weather period for those of us in the north. Changes can bring all sorts of light into dreary winter days!

    Also not ur mothers makes a texturing spray that’s not too pricey. I just don’t like a lot of fragrance so it does kinda bother if u don’t like fragrance but it’s an option

    I was wondering if you could do a review or share your thoughts on this product line, Twist by Quiad. I'm caught between which series of products would work for me. My hair tends to be dry, high-porosity, fine, and curly. My hair goals are volume, definition, and curl separation and to STOP Shedding and having fairy Knots. Overall, I want healthier hair. I want to learn more about how to wear scarves and curly hairstyles for a "woman of a certain age."

    I don't have color treated hair, but I have natural grey highlights. The grey gets dry and crazy and some of the curls are different from my normal 3c curls. Can you advise me on how to moisturize my grey curls. Thank you in advance.

      Hi Lorna. I have grey wavy porous hair on the crown of my head. I add a few drops of oil (currently using pure almond) to my gel, which I rake into my hair when wet. It’s the ONLY way for me to avoid a Pomeranian dog look.

    Hey girlie, My hair is wavy/curly, high porosity and fine, but thick. I don’t want more volume, I hate big hair. What or how can I use a product so that my hair doesn’t get bigger and give me less volume?

    I’m honestly struggling with frizz so bad at the top of my head. I don’t know if my hair is just damaged or what, but it’s like almost the entire crown of my head won’t curl the way it used to. no matter how much product I use, there is no curl that will form without breaking apart and frizzing out, do you have any kind of explanation for this?
