I am approaching 50. I will tell you that its a journey of learning from mistakes. As a parent of a young adult now, I am experiencing things now which I didn't before. Like - talking back, arguing, showing black face, pride, resent, anger, being judged and accused of harbouring evil intent (which I denied). It was really bad. Just like the counsellor said, go through the rough patches. Keep trying to reach out. Keep driving him to army camp even though you were just judged and accused. The trip will be quiet, but keep going. Now a few weeks after the incident he treats it like nothing happened. But I am really still hurt and cut. I will keep going, but just letting all you aspiring parents that its not easy. Be cool, be flexible, be forgiving to the young adults.

being able to say sorry to your kid is one of the hardest things to do for some parents, but being able to do so could mean the world to the child.

This guy is great. The sad truth is that most parents are capable of raising babies, but not capable of bringing up children and young adults because they require more eq to really bring up. I was traumatized by my mother but going into saf saved my life. I could've been a school knife attacker but I am a sergeant. You must leave your parents if you're suffering under them.

Sometimes when the only thing to fix toxic parent-child relationship is to send the toxic parents to jail… life is not so easy & solution not so black & white like law & order. 😢
