@@TSGAdventures did you end up getting one with the focus issue fixed? From my research it seems that even the 2023 batches have this issue as well and Dji has not addressed this at all (other than the firmware)
@Mike Ceebo nope returned the last one and using the action 2 and pocket 2. To me it is a gamble if you are a le to get one that is in focus just not worth it to me. Every thing I have seen it seems the newer batches are better. The A2 does all I need it to do and has very little overheating issues and besides the 10 bit is the same camera as the A3. Probably just wait for the pocket 3 if it ever is released. 🧐

Went through 3 Action 3's that all were out of focus at the short range. I will stick with the A2 for now. May try the A3 later this summer when hopefully all the out of focus ones are sold or repaired.
@@robinhannevig Yeah you have to get something past 11/22 but amazon, bestbuy and other big box stores are still selling the ones from 9/22 which are out of focus probably because they have a ton of them laying around. No firmware can fix it because it is a hardware issue not a firmware issue. DJI had me doing all kinds of crazy stuff just to return the camera to them. Luckily I had bought from amazon so I just returned the last one i got to them and moved on. Bought the DJI single version TX mic which has been just fantastic.
I just need something basic to attach to a selfis stick and put on my backpack somehow for video behind the scenes at photo sessions. I tried the INSTA360x3 and I honestly didn’t need something that advances. The DJIOsmo 3 is perfect for me.
I just purchased it about two days ago, waiting to pick it up from Amazon. I went with this one because, gopros Ted to overheat, freeze and the cost is not worth it due to those major problems. My opinion.

Hello , Do you prefer the dji Cosmo action 3 or the go pro 10 for vacation. I like warm colours, and sharpness is really important for me. Does the go pro 10 ''freeze'' and gets very warm ? because I read that it is a big problem with the go pro.
From my experience from Hawaii last summer, GoPro 10 was the most used camera along with insta360 GO 2. And can’t recall having any overheating or freezing issues with the GoPro or GO2. But after, the action 3 was released. I’m m going back to Hawaii soon and will do a test with both. But atm GP10 still stands as my choice of travel camera

Very well organized and gave me great information to help solidify a selection on the camera. although the Go-Pro has been pushed as a great camera by many videographers at many of the conferences I speak at, the DJI Action 3 looks like an awesome choice. The updates and quality along with the non-freezing and non-overheating as I have recently learned coupled with the mounting that you shared is a game changer. Thanks again and keep doing the great reviews.
I have good DSLR cameras and lenses and carry a tripod when I hike to shoot still images. I am starting to look into adding a small action camera like this to do short videos of scenery from my vehicle when I'm driving and also when hiking, but I've read too many complaints on GoPros being buggy and unreliable and the DJI Action 3 having focus issues. I don't have enough confidence to buy either at this point. I'll wait until the focus issues are fixed on the DJI Action 3.
I have bought Action 3 around 4-5 months ago (in UK) and I was also worried about the focus issues but it was fixed before I have bought it since my camera came perfect from new. I hope that helps.😀

mine lasted 1hr 12 minutes then shut down because over heated i tested the campark x40 and v40 it never over heated and it lasted 12 hours and the cost is only $119 usd
Just Go with DJI Action 3 its Better then Go Pro 11 in many expects......But i just owned Insta 360 ONE RS this one also a good action Camera according to the price point and features its providing I Hope This One will Help ❤❤
The big Plus from GoPro 11 is the wireless remote control...is so convenient . DJI action 3 loose a lot of customers because of that...Please DJI ,release a wireless remote control for DJI action camera please or for action 3 😢
DJI does have a wireless remote. I have one currently on my action 2. I'm curious if it will work on the OA3 as I am considering purchasing one. Not a deal breaker, but would be pretty sweet.
Hi. Very good review. Had the One (Loved it !!) and I have the 2 & 3. (And Osmo Pocket 1&2 also !) . 2 and 3 are very similar in term of image rendering and color science. However, Action 2 gives brighter skies, almost burned if too much contrast. But when I set EV-0.3 to -0.7 (and and also prefer EV -0.3 on Action 3) I reach really two very similar images to work with, which is pure happiness for multicam editing. For me, Action 3 is definitely a better cam than Action 2 if I had to chose one, for its easy of use with big screen, better endurance, no overheating risk. But 2 is still to consider is you need the most compact camera to put in crazy places (I mainly use it alone, without any module on it).

And for those who wonder what to buy to travel light & compact, don’t forget the DJI Pocket 2 … For me, even if it’s not an « action » cam, it give the best image of all : Framing is more « camera like », Colors are softer , you can really be creative and screen is always visible (but too small) which is not the case with action cams when you raise or lower them. That’s my travel combo : Action 2 + Action 3 (or 2) + eventually Insta 360 X3 if I know that it could bring something to my film. All compact & light in a backpack (eventually the drone too !!)… I stopped the « heavy » cameras + Gimbal for light & différents types of gear and it open a very wide type of views.
@@IzzyCooks my favorite is the pocket. Image is softer, and looks more like a big camera. Once used to it, handling is better because you can almost always see the screen whatever the camera position is (but the screen is definitely too small!); I always use Pocket first and Action if Pocket can’t (pocket is not waterproof and is more fragile, it’s not an action cam, but a small camera) . I would say they are complementary
That sounds like a light setup indeed. I always talk about traveling light, but my backpack is always 15kg when i travel 😂 i guess i mean, hiking when i say travel light. I also bring 4 drones, 5 action cameras, a mirrorless and both goggles v2 and 2 🫣😂
I'm sure someone here can easily answer this...Does the DJI actually LOCK into a mount, or is it just a very strong magnet? I will be using this in the ocean, so if it gets knocked off, the camera is gone.
Interesting to know if this version also turns itself off because of overheat issues? Had my Action 2 in the airplane window and it died after 4 min time lapse in 4k. 😂👎👎

The firmware update doesn't fix the focus issues, it just oversharpens the image.
What does help it is the newer batches which come better calibrated.
Yep exchanged 3 of them and the firmware does not fix the focus issues

The focus issue destroyed the Osmo3 …

Does the camera show steepness better than GoPro 10? I use action cams for mountain biking.

Gopro always had firmware issues and will have in the future.Image quality and specs are good,but doesn't matter if you can't operate the camera !

I am worried because my dji oa3 is getting hot when im recharging it. And it also get hot so quickly when i am filming a video. I dont know why.

Yes 🙂 just make sure you get the latest version of the cam. Seems like there is a second batch that im unaware of.

First that came out
The 1st one was 07/22 and had problem. The 2nd, 3rd ones (!!) where 07/22 & 08/22 and had the problem too. The 4th one was the good one and is 11/22

I had my OM3 mounted on the car dash in the sun recording at 4k 120 fps and it took about 25 minute before it overheated.
GoPro still has the better image quality.
