I absolutely LOVE Mitsuhide as a character. His portrayal and the Oda plotline in the Samurai Warriors series is the perfect example the high drama that is in these games.
this Mitsuhide is much closer to his historical equivalent than Sengoku Basara. Like in real history Mitsuhide become afraid and disgusted of Nobunaga cruelty and found him too dangerous to rule Japan

I always thought the reason Mitsuhide betrayed Nobunaga went something like this:
Mitsuhide: Hey.
Nobunaga: What?
M: I'm bored.
N: Yeah, me too.
M: You have already conquered all of Japan.....what is there to do?
N: Hmm......I know!
M: What?
N: How about we pretend that you've betrayed me? We're gonna do it tomorrow at Honnoji, with all the burning buildings and shit, even though you actually got nothing against me.
M: Aha! That's a brilliant idea, Lord Nobunaga! And we're gonna do it just to confuse the hell out of the future historians! Better yet, we're gonna pretend that I killed you there!
N: Yeah! And since you actually never done anything notable in your career serving me, this is your chance to shine! 'The Man Who Betrayed and Assassinated Nobunaga'!
M: Hell yeah! The historians will remember my name as that! Perfect!

i had read SamuraiWiki site that Mitsuhide held a grudge against Nobunaga for allowing Akechi's mother to be killed by the Hatano clan during a hostage situation. As history remembers Nobunaga retreated to the Kansai while the Hashiba fought the Mori and Mitsuhide sent to fight clans to the east leaving both Ieyasu and Nobunaga vulnerable....hence the Honnoji Incident....Ieyasu barely escaped with the help of Hanzo Hattori. Once Hideyoshi learned of Mitsuhide's betrayal he formed a truce with the Mori clan and force marched his army catching Akechi by surprise.....The Akechi was destroyed at the battle of Yamazaki Mitsuhide was killed by peasants armed with bamboo spears.....He ruled Japan a mere ..3 days.....damn crime does'nt pay i guess

The Battle of Yamazaki in SW3 on Mitsuhide's side is one of the absolute best Musou memories I have. The buildup from previous maps is amazing and the music is both beautiful and forlorn. The perfect atmospheric setpiece.
How nice of Koei to add a rifle in Mitsuhide's weapon along with his katana in SW5. It's to show that he has a great rifle skill.

2:12 Damn, that phrase "the enemy is at Honnoji" sounds ridiculous in Samurai Warriors version, in Kessen 3 version it sounds much better of this. Actually Mitsuhide's virsion on Kessen 3 is far the best! Anyone here who play this wonderfull game?

I like him in SW series, he is the first char i played when i started playing series. But in time i started to like him more in Basara series, his psycho sado-mazochistic persona.
