You and your wife will be the rare married lifers in the airline world. Its awesome how supportive she is and how supportive you are of her, and both of you are for the kids.
You can post all the Amsterdam trips you want! We just got back from a transatlantic cruise that started in Amsterdam which is one of our favorite places to visit in Europe. Definitely #1! Great video! Thanks for posting, Bill in Utah Ps. We met a couple on the cruise and have kept in touch with them since the cruise ended . He flys 737 out of MIA for well known carrier that you are familiar with. He has 28 months more to go till 65. He will have 40 years in with the company 😳
When I went to Amsterdam, I really enjoyed visiting the Anne Frank house. It really gives a sense of history to the city. The Rijksmuseum is awesome as well, even if you have no love of art, it's still incredible to go into and visit for a few hours. Was that the Polderbaan runway that you had the miles long taxi to? Some of the best plane spotting on the planet is from right alongside the Polderbaan.
At Amsterdam they are limiting apu usage due to the emissions and concentrations from it. Ultra fine particles and particulate matter are really bad for the ground crew working near airplanes. Same with nitrogen dioxide emissions and concentrations.
Another top video Darren, thank you. I once flew from Birmingham Uk to Amsterdam and I swear the taxy in from landing took longer than the flight! I notice you seem more inclined to get your own food rather than eat with your colleagues. Is that a conscious decision or just the way the airline world is these days? I have a friend now retired from BA who has many happy memories of wonderful crew dinners around the world! Best wishes.
Great video as usual... question... at your airline or in general... although based in dfw, can you let's say a single pilot is their on days off and see a trip from another? Let's say LA to China. Can you put in for it realistically put in for it? Or trade for it? Just wondering
Hey question I know you are Dfw based so what if a person is Miami based on the 777 could they still do some of your trips that originate out of Dfw like to Asia or Hawaii?
Short answer yes. Long answer depends. Line holder can bid for it as an out of base pickup. Reserve would have to be assigned a trip that originated in Miami to fly the DFW trip.
Unless I do the late departure out of DFW that then leaves in the afternoon in LHR. That’s the one schedule I don’t want. DFW 1059 PM departure for a 2:25 PM LHR arrival (8:25 AM DFW time) then 4:25 PM LHR departure to arrive in DFW at 8:39PM.
Heya, your tap to pay probably didn't work because your transit card is set to AMEX. Unfortunately, only Visa and Mastercard are supported by the Dutch transit network.
Hey Darren, I’m that fueler you ran into yesterday at DFW. It was great to finally see you on the ramp!
Small world. I’m always shocked when people recognize me. Thank you for saying hi. Until next time!

YAY!!! Darren posted!!! Your videos truly make my Thursday happier. You serve as an inspiration for me to be a better pilot every day.
Thank you for your trip.😊 Your layover looked very nice!😊
Darren the way you present these trips with what I can only imagine having major amount of restrictions you have - they're brilliant, love every one.
Thank you. Had to get creative. Hopefully in time I can use more Xplane and MSFS content
@@geekontheflightdeck We need a good DFW scenery for MSFS!
As always, loved it. As you say, that’s how it be sometimes. Hopefully you get to attend the next event with your family. 👌
This is cool 😎
Love seeing these videos!

I went onto Freight Temporarily 23 years ago and you are 100 percent correct the wrong spouse is deadly 🤣
That AMS runway is one of the furthest from any terminal globally. I think it is about a mile away.
It's actually more than 4 miles.
Maybe if you end up in LAX you might run into Stig the AA mechanic. His channel is awesome too!
Ran into him once when I was on the Airbus. Yes he covered his face when I met him!
Awesome. Love the content, seems like WB FO is a great choice! Hopefully you've enjoyed the FF 777 release.
The Flight Factor 777 finally has VNAV!
@@geekontheflightdeck I haven’t tried it myself post Alpha I’ve been stuck in blissful Airbus land. I’ll have to check it out.
Much better background in the hotel room than last time. 😂

Runway 36L/18R is the preferred runway at AMS mainly for noise abatement reasons.
damn you got very unluckey you got the 18R/36L (Polderbaan) when landing and when departing.

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t like waiting on others. I like to nap, wake up when ready and eat when ready.

How’s the semaglutide working out? Is their electrical power available in crew bunks/rest areas?
Down 40 pounds. I'm happy with it. Yes power in all rest areas
They must be watching you’re videos, thats why you were not the relief pilot. 👨🏽✈️

When arriving back to the US, you go through the global entry lane instead of the crew lane? I have GE and I always go through the crew lane.
does the cockpit go back to sterile for changeover (physically getting in and out the seats)?
Kinda. There’s a process to change out pilots. Full briefing on the state of the flight, aircraft and contingencies
Red Bull for a coffee guy? Ouch. 🧐
Coffee is for sustaining. Red Bull for the initial kick
Hi Darren! Do you edit videos yourself or outsource it? I’m an editor and would love to discuss, if you’re interested
I edit on my own. All do respect I’m not interested in paying a third party to edit. I keep it simple.
@@geekontheflightdeck I appreciate your prompt response
Damm, mornings come early in Europe

Ayy trombone gang, been playing for 19 years.

Transit is set to my Visa. My default tap to pay is my Amex. Great tip though.
I've stolen your style of saying "thank you" at the end of your videos for my pre-boarding gate announcements.
With your seniority, would it be difficult to get Asian trips out of DFW?
Very difficult by seniority. HNL, LHR and ICN are all 3 day trips but ICN pays 13 hours more than HNL while it pays 9 hours more than LHR.
I recall you did get NRT once.
Twice. On reserve. They don’t come up often to reserves as there are high value
Does DFW have any 777 turns?
Nope
Did you decide to stay on the 777?
Likely staying put. Tomorrow noon is when the current bid closes
Are you Captain Airbus or F/O Boeing or are you still undecided?
Likely staying put. Tomorrow noon is when the current bid closes
I really want to be a pilot but I’m really worried that when I get a wife/girlfriend she would break up with me after a while
You have to find a spouse that supports your career
