I love the look of that Catherine. It looks beautiful and moist. I saw that sitting on the counter when you made a crock pot chicken recipe I believe. It looked beautiful. Loved the videos with reanna in them. She looked like she was having fun when she was cooking. Joseph is always so funny like your husband Thomas. LOVE your recipes, vidoes and beautiful family.
To make it easier to mash the berries, add a tablespoon or two of regular sugar and toss together. Then let it do its magic (at room temp) for 30 minutes.
I always add some sugar to my berries (all kinds) so they get nice and syrupy...especially nice when making strawberry short cake...Catherine's cake looks really good!

Looks like you hit it out of the ballpark with this recipe, Catherine. I will need to give this a try since the strawberry season is upon us. I wonder if you could do something similar using fresh peaches, although I don't know what flavor of Jello you could use to enhance the peachiness factor? But that is one of the things I enjoy about your videos - you get me thinking about how to create other new recipes. Thanks!

That would make any strawberry lover happy. It is a pretty cake. I am so glad you showed how to make a bakery style cake from a box. I made coconut boxed cake and did that and made cupcakes yesterday and it makes a huge difference in taste! LOVE

My plan was to add a box of cherry jello to the cake mix. Yep, we're going in the same direction. 😋
I'll always choose cherries since that's my very favorite! I do love strawberries but I prefer them fresh or uncooked. So we're going in the same direction but with a different red fruit. 🍓🍒
And now that I've seen you make this cake, I need to get in the kitchen and get mine made. ☺️

I finally just made your cake today it came out very moist and so delicious 👍 but the frosting was to sweet maybe because of the strawberries or the Confectionary sugar. it just didn’t thicken up like I expected. I will make this again but without the frosting. Thank you

Always enjoy videos - have saved many of them. Have you ever considered making 'healthier' versions by chance, from time to time? I wish I could eat these dishes every meal, trust me....just too many carbs, sugars, etc. Really like the simple/easy approach, we do need that once in awhile due to lack of time.

Looks delicious but I think I would have taken a toothpick and poked some tiny holes in each layer of cake and brushed some of the fresh strawberry juice on the cake before frosting it just to add more moisture.
Me, too, and also might have used strawberry juice instead of the milk in the cake recipe. I would have also put cream cheese in with the butter when making the frosting because it was a bit on the runny side and then you don't have to keep adding powdered sugar to thicken it. More like a carrot cake frosting and then when you add the strawberries, voila!

@@carriehassell884 Thank you, Carrie...being doing it for years and it cuts back significantly the amount of powdered sugar you need to use...I make my husband a strawberry cake every year for his birthday, but he prefers a white cake and make it from scratch and he loves loves loves whip cream and mash up the strawberries into the whip cream and frost heavily inbetween the layers (3-layer cakes he loves) and also sliced berries and then frost the entire cake in whip cream (no berries), and decorate with more berries and drizzle with freshly-made berry juice...it makes a very pretty cake, made with lots of love🥰
@@carriehassell884 When I decorate the top of the cake, I use whole and sliced berries (usually a big heart w/the sliced berries) and also nestle into the whip cream a ring of whole berries around the bottom of the cake🎂
