SCRAPS STRIPS TO SPLENDOR-MAKING A KING SIZED QUILT FROM A MILLION ZILLION SCRAPS: • 🟪🟧SCRAPS STRIPS TO SPL...
Sidelights - great ideas for efficiency. I love my Stripology ruler. I don’t know that I would ever do a crumb quilt, but Karen Brown absolutely did an extraordinary job on hers.
Love Karen, thanks for shouting her out. That quilt was epic!
Yes, Maurine, Karen knocked that crumb quilt out of the park!! You can tell her in person at QuiltCon!
Sidelights is a wonderful quilt. Karen Brown is the master of the crumbs! I love my stripology ruler. I use it carefully. I’ve created a crumb or to by not paying attention. 🤦♀️
I love the quilt behind you!
Sidelights-very cute! I haven’t yet tried making a trip around the world quilt. Thank you for sharing.
Karen's crumb quilt is awesome. After originally watching her video, I found some adding machine tape (it's getting hard to find), and it's definitely on my to-do list. I work on it when I want a break from another project. And I love my Stripology ruler!
Sidelights is a beauty! I love all laundry basket quilt patterns, she is incredible!
Sidelights - I really like that you mention and link other creators. Giving them credit and sometimes improving on the method. Good job 👏
That Sidelights quilt top is GORGEOUS! Thanks for the tip on the stripology ruler. I've done crumb quilts, but I follow your advice and use a 2 color theme. (Otherwise my OCD would be a nightmare. LOL)
Karen't crumb quilt is indeed fantastic. I tried to do the crumb thing with paper but lost interest early on. Thanks for the reminder to quilt efficiently. So many quilts to do, so little time.
I love name “Side Lights” for this quilt!
That is why I enjoy most of FQS patterns. They give you tips on how to cut your fabrics for efficiency and to save fabrics
Sidelights. Thanks for the efficiency hint. It took a while but I also finally started stacking those pieces on a design board already played out as needed for the final block. Suggest now a show about efficient sewing.
Sidelights. Love your channel and I learn so much! Thanks!
The Sidelights quilt would make a great quilt for a Hospice patient...really brighten your their day!
Sidelights is a nice looking quilt top
Since the Polish word for "grandmother" is "babcia", I wonder if Edita Sitar was actually making granny square blocks.
Good point. The block definitely looks like a granny square.
I am sure you are correct, it does look like a granny square.
Wow - you really do have a lot of those tops to give away! Beautiful top (but don't need it)....and I also am looking for ways to increase efficiency. I had to laugh at her Babcia Square as it is just a little TATW block modified - almost like a granny square but the other direction. I watched her video at how to make it. I had already planned on making the quilt top. Of course, her color choice/s is the thing that makes it absolutely spectacular...as she seems to have a real knack for choosing those warm colors to put together!
Sidelights- I love the colour scheme of the quilt behind you!!!😊
Sidelights, beautifully done..
Sidelights . Would make a great throw quilt
Thank you for showing us the Stripology ruler a few episodes ago. Your use case in that video prompted me to get one. OMG, what an efficiency difference it made in cutting! I love it so much. You made me a believer.❤
Sidelights. Congrats to last week's winner. I don't have patience for crumb quilting lol. But I need to buckle down and do it. Have a wonderful day 😊❤
Sidelights - great channel, thanks so much!
Sidelights is so pretty!!
Thank you for sharing about how to complete the Many Trips Around the World a little faster. I totally agree and I love the quilt in your video. I would love to win the Side Lights flimsy that you are giving away!
SIDELIGHTS : Love this quilt top !!! I have my bedroom and bathroom decorated with peacock items . Love your videos they are so helpful .

Sidelights- I learn so much watching your videos
Sidelights---I love my 2 1/2 inch stripology ruler. Thank you
The Sidelights quilt top is lovely. You explained your method very well. Thank you for your advice
Very nice sidelights.
Cheers Maureen. I love the quilt behind you - for a minute I thought you had an Irish chain version!
Sidelights! I look forward to your videos. I learn a lot. TY for sharing your experience.
Sidelights I don't keep crumbs, there are too many large pieces of fabric calling to me in my sewing room. I am working on gathering pieces for your perfect scrap quilt by cutting up scraps after I complete a project. We will see how long it takes to become a quilt
Yes, Karen's crumb quilt is stunning!!!
Sidelights. Thanks for your videos. Simple information. Have a great day.
I’ve noticed that many patterns don’t give instructions for what I would consider a more efficient way of doing things. I think this is often because they want to give the customer the most flexibility in what fabric they are using and how to arrange those fabrics. For example, if I want to make a sawtooth star with all the points the same color, I would use the 4-at-a-time method. But if I wanted to make them 4 different colors, I would use a one-at-a-time method. In your example, Edyta may be anticipating that some people may be using scraps to make the quilt, rather than a fat quarter bundle. I would greatly appreciate patterns having a section at the end that describes more efficient construction alternatives if they exist. For me, this would add a lot of value to a pattern because it’s knowledge I could use int he future for other quilts. The other thing I notice in some patterns is that there will be extra seams that could be eliminated using a better construction method.
I always reengineer patterns. Optimum methods to include eradicating seams (FG v Hst, diamond rectangles v triangle in square….) I see many talented makers use inefficient methods. Grounded learning the best way to become an independent minded sel sufficient quilters.
Sidelights good tip
side light sounds like a winner
Looks like the link to Karen Brown didn’t make it into the comments but if you search scrap strips to splendor just get it done quilts you will find Karen’s video. Her video on how to do crumb piecing on the strips is called scrap fabric-how to use every small scrap and crumb.
Sidelights…….newish long arm owner and actually needing quilt tops to practice on!
I have many Project Linus quilt top donations, so much so we told the donator that we couldn't keep up. If you would like to finish any of them email me at quiltersheaveninc@gmail.com and let me know.
I’m not seeing the video of the crumb quilt. I push the “more” button but no video link comes up.
I think Maureen is referring to Karen Brown of Just Get it Done Quilts. Nice lady
From my experience watching her videos, there is never a link. Not on my device. 🙁
Beautiful side lights top.
Sidelights.
