Quilting helped me tremendously through both menopause and cancer. I still love being behind my sewing machine and it really helps me. Life's journey can be difficult and crafting can be a wonderful outlet, especially if we give away what we create and share it with others.
Carpenter’s star. Another great video.

I would love to finish your Carpenters Star quilt. I live in SC and actively contribute quilts to Project Linus. This is probably my favorite place to support. I have been subscribed to your channel for some time now and can’t wait for Monday mornings to see what you have in store. I fully agree with the theory that quilting is good for your mental health. Keep the great episodes coming. Thanks so much.
Another good video!
I look forward to your video drop very monday. thanks again for a good lesson. I would love to win the carpenters star.
Carpenter’s star. Enjoy your channel
I had a stressful job in the late 80’s. Counted cross stitch saved my sanity. Couldn’t think of any while counting.
I so agree with you on your opinion. Many people say they don't have time for crafting. I say they waste time vegging in front of the TV and that doesn't really help. Shut off the TV and do something that involves your mind and your hands and you will be so much healthier!
I love the carpenter star.
. The colors are my favorite.
Carpenter Star. Beautiful. Would love to win this quilt and finish it up
Carpenter Star quilt is pretty I love it. Would love to give it a new home!
Carpenter Star! My sewing room is my “happy place!” Sure helps my anxiety!
Thank you for showing that even you have a “color” comfort zone. Thank you again for another video
Your Carpenters Star is awesome. Love the colors. Great info on putting blocks together. Hate matching seams so I do all the things you have listed.
Would ❤ to quilt your Carpenter Star wall hanging-the possibilities!! Even have ideas for the backing! Thanks for chance to win this topper!!!
I agree about having a passion! I've only been quilting about 15 years, and it really saves my sanity. Carpenter's Star is one of my favorite patterns.
Love the B&W quilt with the accents. I think any accent would have looked great: pink, green, purple, red...you name it!
My beloved KIDZ (dogs) and quilting KEEP ME ALIVE. My family does not speak to me. I’m 71 and at least I can say I had some joy and peace in my waning years💓💓💓💓
The Carpenter’s Star is beautiful, love the colors.
I love the Carpenter's Star. I would probably quilt it and give it away.
Thank you for such practical advice. Enjoy. I've added red many times to that black, gray and white combo. I hadn't thought about gold, but it worked.
Quilting's my passion too
Great ideas all around! Love Carpenter Stars also and have never made one. On this list.
One of your best videos, from the beginning to the end.
Could not agree more. Thank-you Maureen❤
Carpenter star! What a beautiful version of this quilt. Thanks for showing this.
AMEN to your opinion today! I agree with you wholeheartedly that we each need a”passion “ to fall back on to get us through.❤
I love your black, grsy, brown and white quilt. It's the colors of trees in winter.
Carpenter star. Less frustration is another result of sewing blocks together more efficiently, which leads to greater success and happiness with the final quilt.
Again, you have blended scrap pieces and colors making a "no waste", decorative quilt. Yes, quilting does relieve stress as well as it brings out our skills we did not know we had. Thank you for giving me something to look forward to on every Monday! The Carpenter's Star layout and color choice are charming.
Carpenter’s Star…So true! Keeping hands and mind involved in something that brings us peace really helps us keep our joy.
LOVE Carpenter Star quilts! Agree so much. I have a very high stress job as well as being the caregiver for both my elderly parents. Quilting gives my brain a rest from my daily stresses.
Maureen, this episode was just gold🏆 Your piecing and color choices of the black, white, and great quilt is stunning with the gold piecing added! I’m in process of collecting enough of these shades to add teal to mine for our living room! Can’t wait!
Thank you for sharing personal experiences with us. Life is not always a bowl of cherries, for any of us♥️ Your Carpenters Square quilt top is gorgeous! TYFS 💕🧵
Gold with black/white/gray was an inspired decision - your quilt is striking!
Carpenter star! Thank you for all the great advice. Have a wonderful week.
Love your Carpenter’s Star! And quilting IS therapy. I wish more people understood that it is sew relaxing and therapeutic ❤
Great tips! The flecks of gold in the black and white quilt are perfect. Carpenter Star.
That star would work as a center of my backing! Fingers crossed. THank you, Maureen!
Really like the black & white with the brown . Thanks for all the great info you give! Nice carpenter star quilt…
Oh,Maureen, your opinion is spot on! ❤ and the black and tan quilt is gorgeous.
I was almost out of earshot when you were talking about reducing stress. When you mentioned beading, I heard "eating." I thought wow! I should be a really calm person! I'm sorry you lost so many family members to cancer and went through a rough divorce. My husband died 5+ ago, and it's taken me a long time to adjust. After a few years I wondered if my ex ever got his act together after 50 years. He didn't. He burned every bridge he had. He just died and I ended up paying for his cremation to keep him out of a pauper's grave out of gratitude for his mom's kindness. I need to do more sewing and less just thinking about sewing. And chill!
I loved this video and couldn't agree more. Everyone needs a hobby. Just something to focus on. I wonder why I didn't suffer as much during the pandemic....QUILTING saved me!! I love your carpenter star!!!
Carpenters Star. Great advice. Thanks. We all need a hobby to relax.
Hi Maureen,
Sure would appreciate the opportunity to quilt your impeccably pieced Hunter's Star.
Your '9:19' assembly configuration is fabulous. It's exciting to find old quilt patterns and consider more efficient piecing solutions.
Thank you for sharing part of your personal background at the beginning of this video. You're an amazing woman. And you're welcome in my studio, any day of the week.
You are 100 percent correct. Thank you for your great advice. I love your videos. I look forward to them every week.
I love both of the Worlds Greatest Scrap quilts. Totally different, both beautiful and so well color-balanced. I’d love to ruler quilt the Carpenter Star and use as a wall quilt.
I agree with you 100%, I have been telling friends for years, that quilting is a great stress release.
I enjoy all your Videos!❤
I agree with your "opinion" regarding finding a craft to easy the mind. When I'm sewing, I think of nothing else but what I'm doing, it's timeless time. Children who spend a lot time playing violent games, to me, is PART of the problem. How can their minds relax. I really like both of your scrap quilts, great work!
Carpenter's star w metered borders!
❤❤❤
Love the carpenters star quilt/wallhanging..
I want to make your world's best scrap quilt! Carpenter's Star

I'm pretty sure it's called Town Square by fabric cafe.
It is. It was Sweet and Simple with a Lime Twist earlier by another author.

There are several studies made in Finland about the benefits of hand-crafting. The conclusions are the same and even go further than your opinion.
Hello Maureen Would you share on your video the products you use that are quality items? I'm in search of a pair of snips that are dependable to snip threads and maybe even the dog ears as I go along. And pins. The cutesy ones with butterflies and buttons on top are too thick for my happiness. (it's just my opinion). What supplies do you have an opinion on using for day to day patchwork?? Thanks.

Can you share the name of the pattern with the cute dump trucks.? I've made a Carpenter's Star. They are so pretty .I love stars.
Please be respectful when talking about mental health issues! You stated that you want to be helpful to those with anxiety and mental health issues - but using the term "I would have been in the looney bin" is NOT HELPFUL! It is very derogatory - and simply is not true. Most folks with mental health challenges are not hospitalized or institutionalized - but rather are trying to cope out here with their daily lives. I agree that quilting and crafts can indeed be therapeutic, and may be incredibly helpful. We need to speak with and about each other respectfully, normalizing mental health as important goal for all. With respect - Dr. Madge Buus-Frank and avid quilter.
I am so so sorry that I offended you. My point was that my sewing has gotten me through difficult times and that perhaps us sharing our knowledge could help others in need.
@@theopinionatedquilter thank you for your response. I believe you are a wonderful, kind and knowledgable quilter. And this is not your "usual" approach. But I did feel compelled to speak up, not because I am offended, but because those that are most vulnerable are less likely to speak up. Words matter, and your words of apology are lovely. Thank you!
