  • Ragi Milk or Ragi Haalu is a delicious and refreshing drink that can help beat the summer heat. Ragi, also known as finger millet, is a highly nutritious grain that offers numerous health benefits. This drink not only cools your body down but also provides a host of nutrients such as calcium, iron, and fiber. So indulge in the goodness of Ragi Milk or Ragi Haalu this summer and stay healthy!
    Ingredients:
    Raagi/Finger Millet - 1 Cup
    Jaggery - 1 Cup to 1 & 1/4 Cup
    Salt - 1/4 tsp
    Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
    Method:
    1. Add 1 cup of Raagi/Finger Millet. Add water and wash the Raagi/Finger Millet by pressing with your hand. Wash the Raagi 2-3 times and remove the water.
    2. After washing three times, add water to soak it above 2 inches at the level of Raagi. Close the lid, and I allowed it to soak overnight.
    3. Add soaked Raagi/Finger Millet to a big mixer jar, add 1/2 cup of water, and make a fine paste. Ground to smooth paste. Filter this Raagi Haalu/Milk. Take a big sieve or a two-layered sieve and filter the Raagi Haalu/Milk.
    4. After filtering the milk, transfer the residue to the same mixer jar, add water, grind it 2-3 times, and filter the Raagi Milk from it. Mix the filtered Raagi Haalu/Milk with the help of a ladle. If you feel that this is thick, then add 1/2 cup of water and adjust the consistency. I have added a total of 3/4 liters of water.
    5. Add 1 cup of Jaggery Powder, Add 1/4 tsp of Salt, And 1/2 tsp of Cardamom Powder, and mix well.
    Now the Raagi/Finger Millet Milk is ready to serve.

    can we use ragi hittu instead of ragi

      The taste will be different if you use ragi hittu. I never tried it. If you soak and grind the ragi the ragi milk will extract properly and tastes good.

    Is it ok to drink without boiling the ragi milk? Can v gv to 2 year baby

      Yes definitely you can have it without boiling. It will be very tasty, cooling and filling. But don't know whether we can give the 2 year kids. I started giving my son at the age of 4.

      ಹೌದಾ. ಯಾರೋ ಕಾಮೆಂಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರು ರಾಗಿ ಬೇಯಿಸದೆ ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ನೋವು ಬರತ್ತೆ ಅಂತ. At least ನೆನೆಸಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರೆ ಏನೂ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ಅಂತ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. ನಿಮ್ಮ method try ಮಾಡಿ ನೋಡಬೇಕು. ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು.

      Raagi halu jote bella mix madidre heat agalla antha doddavaru heliddanna keli madidini. Bella asthu heat adre Payasakke athava bere sweets ge hakalla. Kalu menasu thara bella body heat madalla. Bella illadene Raagi Haalu kudiyoke kastha.

      I never experienced stomach ache. My grandmother used to give us in summer when we are kids. If you are allergic to fiber food and not digesting properly you may get stomach problem.

      ಒಂದರಿಂದ ಎರಡು ದಿನ ಮಾತ್ರ ಫ್ರಿಡ್ಜ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡಬಹುದು. ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ದಿನ ಇಟ್ಟರೆ taste change ಆಗತ್ತೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಹಾಳಾಗಬಹುದು. ಫ್ರೆಶ್ ಆಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಕುಡಿದರೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದು.
