Excellent introduction to the topic. I was delighted you mentioned So Van Gogh. I have a few of them blooming right now in my garden. I do not know how well they'll take the heat here in South Carolina, but they're so lovely that I had to try.
I started because I thought my dutch iris were siberians... due to blooming so early, often in snow. Now I know so much more about the other species though; I always noted differences but never knew where they came from.
Thank you for all this information. I have one clump of Siberian iris, blue but not sure of the name, as it came from a friend’s garden and I have also shared it with another friend. I will look for some of the other colours at a garden centre but they are not sold everywhere. Any suggestions where to look in southeastern Ontario in Canada?
This is hugely helpful! Thank you!
