@@Frenite Well, it’s very straightforward, Phibes goes to the River of Life with Victoria (his dead wife) and reanimates her while Biederbeck, from not having his special syrum that makes him young, dies of old age
I don't know why, but I've always loved that little moment where Waverley decides to let Vulnavia go. Something about the expression on his face as he says "Nothing" is just really effective.
It's not the end of the world... Beiderbeck accepts his fate to wither away and die. Dr. Phibes just wanted to revive his dead wife and even keep her safe by any means necessary.
Hermosa pelicula, la he visto muchas veces!!! la musica final es explendida, me emociona, me hace acordar a Judy Garland y tambien al misterio de la vida eterna luego de la muerte. Muchas gracias, Dios te bendiga!!!
Same here. Always wondered about that. Maybe a goddess (or a supernatural entity or a spirit) in the romantic tradition. Definitely she is not human. Her intriguing presence and loyalty adds to the beauty of both Dr Phibes movies.
You could say that this accurately symbolizes Vincent Price's and Robert Quarry's career at American International. You see back in the day, A.I.P. wanted to replace Vincent with Robert in their future horror films. There was a bit of a rivalry but the two stayed professional. Robert did get to play the title character in the Count Yorga films. but alias Vincent has already left his mark and has an everlasting legacy, while Robert was more or less forgotten by the mainstream. Thankfully Robert does have his share of fans who love the Yorga movies, and other horror films he's been in.
There is some truth to this; however, instead of Phibes being represented by Price, more appropriately Phibes "on his way" represents where the movie business went and became after 1972; namely, and by and large, a junk factory, ostensibly run by an anonymous cadaver (a view, as many of you will already know, countless YT movie watchers and commentators routinely concur with.)
Somewhere over the Rainbow is a younger song than the events of the film although I'm not sure we're aiming for historical, or any other type of accuracy here...
This was a happy ending for me Ma and me. We often would like to say we are going down the river of life and live eternal like Vincent. Well, Ma is now on that river with Dad, brother and Uncle. As for myself , another 30yrs wait will do me.
While I think the first movie is, as a whole, a better movie (not by a ton), I LOVE this ending as not only an ending to this movie, but the Phibes Saga.
Absolute classic and there will never ever be anyone else like the great late Vincent Price ......he is immortal !
This is one of the best top ten movie endings, ever!
Really? I thought it was one of the worst movie endings I’ve ever seen. We have no idea what happened

@@lukacunningham342 That’s your assumption. We never actually see how it plays out.
I love that Dr. Phibes got a good ending, he certainly earned it with all that creativity and craftsmanship.

I don't think he could have done much,do you? I hope Beiderbeck survived,he did not die just aged rapidly.I wanted him to synthesize another elixir.
@@zenileonDoubtful Beiderbeck would live. Especially without the Elixir Of Life.
love the music ending the movie, and last but not least the infamous laugh of the Mr. Vincent Price himself. :)
Nobody laughs like Mister Vincent Price.
I love the ending. Somewhere over the rainbow...kinda sad 😪😢RIP Vincent P.
I disagree, the way it's played, gives it a triumphant kind of feel, to me!
@@petergant1379 I feel the same, it's a great ending. Rest in peace, Mr Price.
The entire score was released on CD in 2003 and is available as a digital download from Amazon.

There was going to be a third movie of Dr Phibes but it never came to be. Nevertheless, Vincent Price was amazing and still is. RIP
“It’s not the end of the world”…… well actually it is…. 😂
I will always wonder who , or what Vulnavia was?

Loved the Music, and Movie: ♥

Vince was the man!

Great film
Classic horror, classy as it has Vince Price.
Also i think some inspiration for a well known horror franchise beggining with "S"
Christopher Lee should have been cast as Beiderbeck. He would have played it to perfection.
Phibes might have turned around for him.
Go Phibes, Go!
Read the book. The novel - it explains a lot.
There's a book? Tell me the movies are based on it, and not the other way round...
I guess that’s a happy ending.
Only one audio track sadly
Guys, give me your opinion: Do you think this is a happy ending or a bad ending? (and don’t put “yes” in the comments, you sneaky devils!)

NO audio on the right side - left side only. Was this suppose to be in Mono?
If you have the original in mono only, is it really that much of a bother to route it through two channels?
So did Darius Biederbeck really died of rapidly aging? Cause it’s almost kinda hard to tell.
She sounds like Joanna Lumley
Reminds me of Julie an Toto 😪😢😒
You mean Dorothy?
Comet tv blurred out this scene due to nudity, where is the nudity?
Was it the scene with Vulnavia? I think Me-TV did something similar to that.
@@amandacress5132 It was a scene at the end of the movie.
0:56 phantom of the opera movie sort of redid this scene! lol I know the one is not associated with the other. that was an inside joke
Funny how the movies are set in the 1920s when “over the rainbow” wasn’t written until 1939😂
The end credits music in the german translation version is much better.
