Why Brian Eatwell was never even nominated for an Oscar for his set designs is beyond me. Absolutely brilliant, especially when one considers the low budget this film had.
I'm convinced that having seen both of them at the age of eight was a formative influence on my becoming a member of a wet team in later years. It showed that killing has its own artistic dimensions.
I read in a/the "Making of..." book that Basil K. was fired. Too bad. I think he made a great contribution with this piece alone. On another subject, Vulnavia certainly made a quick change, didn't she? I need to watch this movie again.
Basil Kirchin was sacked, but his replacement, John Gale, contributed the vocal piece that accompanied Vulnavia when she was wafting about while Phibes was burning effigies.
This was the first dance at my wedding.
You insane fool!

@@zacmumblethunder7466 Thanks for this info!
The scene with the bats scared the wits out of me when I was a kid. It's still chilling to be honest.
The way he is able to reduce those around him to SILENT, obedient automatons for some unknown reason...brings tears to my eyes...
it could b a musical today with a few extra songs added. I could just see Phibes and the girl singing a number similar to POTO
1:40 Any relation to Frank Sidebottom?

His grandfather.
How I feel when my girlfriend visits.
Was Cage Of Bats a Classical piece?
i dunno 🤔
the girl is real but there is a puppet orchestra playing...hmmm...
I think she's also a robot, or was supposed to be one. Until the sequel made her into a supernatural being.
@@julietfischer5056 no shes real. she just cant talk
@@krystalharwood5240 - What I've read was that Vulnavia was one of his automatons. Which doesn't fit with her scream as the acid drenches her.
The orchestra is really creepy
