  • In this video I take care of a lot of the behind the scenes tasks required to keep the firewood and tree business running in the winter. I dispose of a bunch of IBC bladders, get rid of a huge load of ugly wood in the International hook lift truck, and do a bunch of maintenance on the International and @suretractrailers dump trailer.

    Next time you have a load it the hook lift wont pick up, chock the roller wheels of the can and slowly back up as you're trying to lift the can. You'll combine the mechanical force of the truck and the hydraulic force of the ram, and it'll lift.

    To lift bin by yourself in a pinch, use a chain make a loop 18” and lift with the truck place blocks under the rails, put back down,remove chain and hook back up like usual.if you can get the bin 12-18” off the ground with a chain an blocks you can almost double the lift capacity of your truck

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  4 месяца назад

      That’s true, I keep some blocks in the tool box as is, I should just start putting them under the rails to begin with

    Maybe your pump needs some maintenance because it is leaking pressure internally.

    • @DudeRanchDIY

      Me too, I think that would do it. Pump was looked over and it appears to be fine, just a lot of stress on the lift those first few inches

    Hey Jake next time you need to lift a bladder that has some stuff left in it out of the cage just tie a light tie down strap to a 30" long 2x4 and stick it inside the bladder. Turn the 2x4 sideways and hook tie down to your loader forks and you can lift the bladder right out without spilling anything.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  4 месяца назад

      Yeah if the stuff inside was liquid that would work well!

    • @dfarmer_
      @dfarmer_ 4 месяца назад

      If you want to make it really easy, drill a hole in the board near the center but a little offset and run the strap through it. Then the board will hang a little sideways, lower it in the hole and maneuver the board (with the loader) so that when you lift it the board hits the inside top, straightens out and lifts the bladder out.
      We do this with a piece of steel and chain, and lift large tractor duals with 1 man, never getting out of the skid - works great!

    Your Mrs shouldn’t be such a wimp, she needs to burn all the raggy logs and save the nice pretty logs to sell. I mean it’s the principle of the thing, she wouldn’t have lasted long in WW2.

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  4 месяца назад +1

      I’ll be sure to let her know… She and I have been burning the undesirable wood for the past 3 years. It’s a pain to bring into the house because it doesn’t stack well and hard to pack the stoves full due to the inconsistent shapes. If I’m in the position to be able to burn nice larger splits for myself I will do that. The WW2 comment is wild… as if heating our home has ANYTHING to do with war.
