As a big fan of solo cinematic stuff as well as tabletop play (obviously) i really appreciate the super stand out badass effects. hope y'all stay well and really appreciate y'all supporting the gang. i been a non patreon follower (cuz i'm broke as the lowest pleb on a penal world) since the jump and this channel is just the GOLD standard for battle reports for not just 40K, but their other game videos are equally as good and leagues (imo) better than other channels, no contest.
It's honestly just crazy that a good list from a good faction can just stomp across the entire board, shooting better than a shooting specialized army, and than charge into said shooting specialized army and melee better as well. We need the year of Nick!
More of an issue with T'au than with Space Wolves, or even Space Marines. T'au sadly just aren't even really a good shooting army. But Space Wolves are pretty middle of the pack, no pun intended. In fact, in competitive settings, I think they're even below average. T'au are just brokenly unusable in 9th. According to leaks though, we can look forward to a T'au codex early next year. The leak predicted January, so assuming no delays, just a few months out.

Tau always lose because most players who play Tau are wacky and nonserious. So they make bad plays, don't know what they're doing with the faction, and it also doesn't help on top of that that their codex isn't that powerful. Not to mention Space Wolves are just a mindless faction that moves forward and charges, requires no thought like other Marines ones do. So it's easy to win with Space Wolves

Casual games have such a diverse array of units, but look at imperial guard and tau and look at the breathing room they have in terms of unit quality compared to say, Sisters of Battle, who from my experience with them have near universally viable units in most tables.

Loved the battle! Beautiful underwater terrain and modified Tau! But please, JT, stop warning about Nick's splitfire when it's about to go badly, takes the suspense out of it! Especially since you don't do it when his splitfire is actually working out!

Usually the Space wolves aesthetics kinda puts me off them, but Nick G's army is truly amazing. It looks fantastic. Just made a Space Wolf fan out of me. Great match, the underwater theme is so cool, and I think a few different dice rolls could have really changed how the game unfolded.
One of the best parts of this hobby is the individual imagination of hobbyists. I too have not liked an army until in the hands of someone who spun it uniquely enough.
Love the production values of this series, subscribed just for that. To a novice who has always had an interest but no armies this channel scratches an itch I didn't know needed attention. Thanks and keep up the good work 👍

Playon is the only 40K channel I choose to watch! Your amazingly high production battlefields, armies, filming, & audio compliment the amazing and enjoyable personalities of the team. Tau Nick's great attitude and awesome sportsmanship ensure every episode including him is always top notch entertainment, NIck's obvious love of playing the game seems to bring out the best in his opponents' personalities as well.

This very awesome shooting sequence, where Tau Nick was able to pull off some sweet split fire kills, felt like an analogy to Ikarus flying higher to the sun. This setting was wild! (Also, now I know which Space Marine chapter I'm going to start with !!!)
I do have to say i enjoy your Battle Reports more than most. Your production value is always on point. And it makes me excited even when its armies that currently arent the greatest because of what you do. Also Tau Nick has a very contagious attitude.
The tau just feel like they are bad at everything. Space wolves shot back just as well but when in close combat they smack. Love the theme btw great job.
They've super reliant on stacking marker lights to achieve truly great shooty status, but getting that to work with any consistency is difficult. It's just an extra step other factions don't have to worry about. I think the common consensus currently is Adeptus Mechanicus are just the better Tau now in many regards
Currently they ARE bad at everything. If you don't spend points or CP on Markerlights, they shoot like Orks, and they while they aren't as horrible defensively in melee as the memes say, offensively nobody will ever be afraid to charge you because they just can't wound anything in the Fight phase. Without a completely overhauled codex, they're literally just a nerfed AdMech that then got another three rounds of nerfs, then had half their wargear removed.
Man this one of, if not, the best tables I've ever seen. You guys went above (or in this case below?)and beyond AGAIN! Great job Play On. Can't wait to see Nick win.
I feel that. I started with Tau. About 4 months ago. Not realizing how God awful they are to play. I think I've lost every single game I've played so far with Tau. And they are never close I just don't get the opportunity to really fight back
This game was great. The underwater theme was awesome. I feel bad for the Tau shooting though...oof. Did you consider any other special rules for an underwater match while working on this? I would suggest decreased weapon ranges, and lower strength or to-hit in melee due to the water, but that might just be too much.
@@owllegostopmotion7633 they are the shooting army that hits on 4s base and require a ton of set up to even hit reliably. Sure they'll wound easier but they are an army solely based in the shooting phase so invuln saves, which are abundant in this edition, screw them over cause they have no other way to deal damage. Stuff like ghaz and ctan are a nightmare for them to fight.
@@PeterVerheirstraeten definitely. I main orks and my vest bud mains tau. The matchup used to be a classic he shoots me off the board or I get 1 charge in and kill everything. Now the whole thing is skewed cause he's not wounding me nearly as much as he used to and ramshackle kills off the multitude of s7 missiles he brings to the table.
i loved the custom rules! I think the big fish was a little two easy to kill for 3 command points but the moving cover of the school of fish was excellent. The downwards fly rule for swimming was also cool!
You guys really reminded me of what is was like having fun playing 40k... I waited so long for that Dark Angels codex to come out 🤣 now just a relic of the past like that scatter die..
After battling with covid last week this has been a treat to come back to. Very much enjoyed this unique battle. This also inspired a custom space sharks Atlantis theme, using the ideas of the turbines on tau nicks models and other nicks custom look wolves that have that ancient warrior look to them. This really made my day thanks PoT!
3:43 Yeah, I am sure that`s how it would work with a Whirlwind firing rockets underwater. But I have to say it is an awesome Army. Looks absolutely great and it is one of the best fields I`ve ever seen.The effects to show who is shooting who are also pretty nice.
I'm about 2 minutes in and you get a like already. Those conversion, the scenery and the special rules are just so creative and awesome. Can't wait to find out who wins :D
Every thing looks so great that the janky tau tower really stands out in a bad way. Great use of mixing bowls though! Also the thunder wolves on the sea bed is just not right. They would be doggy paddeling around the surface. Everything else is AWESOME!
honestly i am blown away by by the scenery, I absolutely love the under water Tau base. I have just started my Tau army and I am so so sooo Inspired to make more tau stuff, make a tau orca, make a tau arctic tundra map... I blame 'Tau Nick', but how can I not love this army, and Nick's enthusiasm with it.
That was awsome for sure!!!! This and the skybase battle are definitely two of my favorite on the channel!!! So how about a pyramid terrain, Kroot vs Tyranids AVP themed match? I totally get that kroot would be at a serious disadvantage.....but I'm sure you guys can figure something out to balance the battle

I have just started my Tau army and I am so so sooo Inspired to make more tau stuff, make a tau orca, make a tau arctic tundra map... I blame 'Tau Nick', but how can I not love this army, and Nick's enthusiasm with it.
When the Space Corgis were being displayed, all I heard was wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, wolf, and wolf.
That was awsome for sure!!!! This and the skybase battle are definitely two of my favorite on the channel!!! So how about a pyramid terrain, Kroot vs Tyranids AVP themed match? I totally get that kroot would be at a serious disadvantage.....but I'm sure you guys can figure something out to balance the battle
Tau Nick seems like so much fun to play against.
I have split feelings about those late game decisions... but great show guys!

Always a great watch but Nick is the best because he turns the energy up to 11
