Sign me up for that “roti” tour! As always , the kindness you show towards others is always given back to you. It’s easy to find joy and happiness once you look outside yourself. Thanks as always for another interesting look into your life. Peace brother!!! Have an amazing day and awesome adventures
You are too cool OK now I am just smiling imagining that I actually come to give an ROTI tour, displaced or any other place, that would just be absolutely awesome, also hilarious… Thanks for the idea :-) and thanks for being the first one to join! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday, morning or whenever you read this, hope all is going well. Much love, see you for the next one!!

Wow, thank you Mashariki, some great and kind words - thank you :). Yeah haha that officer, oh wow, I think he made my day, I was just laughing the rest of the day from there...
When I was a university student, I visited Thailand, but through your videos I see how much I missed. I went on a tour, but decided to go off the beaten path. It was a great time and I discovered the people to be the kindest I’ve met in my travels. Your videos speak to me. I plan to bring my university daughters as soon as the planes go. Thanks.

Always good yes you got that right, I like how you put it to. Good simple food making good memories, that is about all I can wish for any trip, and this one was definitely full of that. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, and support me and these videos, always appreciate that so much :-) have a great Saturday morning today, hope it’s holding something cool for you, relaxing as well. Take care and see you for the next one
Is it a coincidence Joel, that you and Mark are showcasing food on opposite ends of Thailand. You are close the border of Burma and videoing cross culture food while Mark was close to Malaysian border, in Pattani area eating another version of cross culture food.
Hi Khawaja!! Thanks so much for the support! I guess it was a coincidence, this for me was actually a bike trip, something I had been planning for awhile. I didnt remember that Mae Sot has such a large Muslim community, that was wonderful to have so much Halal food.
You are too amazing Shella!!!!! I am just smiling so big right now, wow. I probably have not even watched my own videos as much as you have, this is just too cool wow thank you :-) hope your confidence and inner peace are continuing to build, still thinking of you during these days

HAHA!! Alexandra always some cute comments and cute stories you share with me, thanks so much for taking the time to write after every single video. It is amazing and I appreciate it so much. Yes these snacks were some of the best, I didn’t know quite the extent of the diversity but I did have in mind some of the foods that I knew I was going to be able to enjoy here. And Roti/Nan with tea was definitely on the list!! Super cool that I now know Jace understands me, Riding my bike for three days just to have these tasty yet simple treats
Joel, a warm welcome from a local police officer 👮 is a good thing to start the day. Always bring a smile to my face. Totally the opposite of what I think about Thailand from abroad.
What an awesome experience and the friendliness the people show you I would have to say has a lot to do with the kind person you are. You radiate a sense of light and kindness so people respond to that 😊 thanks for being you and sharing such an awesome meal once again. The views on your bike ride were breath taking I love the beauty you allow us to enjoy with you, be blessed
Absolutely one of the coolest places Jennifer - I had been to Mae Sot before, but still in the days before I was hopelessly in love with all the diversity to be found in Thailand. I still didnt speak Thai well enough to hear out the different accents either, for me thats a big part of the fascination I have with travel here too. THANK you as always for showing me how much you are enjoying these videos, really getting into the stories, and ok wow I definitely do not deserve your super high praise. This day was easy, the people are all so nice it kinda just allows me to smile and say hi to everyone and then they just make the video for me!
I'm impressed by the diversity of such a small region. Would so love to try more savory teas. Your sharing mixed cultures. Opens doors for me to enjoy More cultures here in the States. We tend to oversee each other here. I speak with different cultures. Share food and recipes in foreign stores. It's wonderful! Thank You again. For opening the world for us to explore. Hi and good morning Gloria a big hug to you today :-) you know what your words really are beautiful because I think there are probably no more places in the world that are more diverse than the USA. I do get a lot out of the trips myself but it sometimes it’s tough to then sit so long to make it a video, so thank you, thank you for sending the motivation to help me keep up the production work. Thanks for your support so much, hope you have a great day today
Gd morning Joel! great way to start the day... that tanour or Ong oven where they slap the bread really makes that delightful texture!!! Great conclusion of Togetherness and being one withbthe surroundings!!! Good day to you!!!
Eugenio always happy to see your comments thanks for the support and the positivity. You got that right beating up the door pounding it around a bit it does add so much to the texture especially when they are just masters of temperature like at these places
Haven't tried traditional roti yet but Naan I love! 😊 thanks for sharing your simple morning breakfast Joel! The beautiful views sums it all up! Blessings!
Joel, the nice, warm interaction that you had with the gentleman in the video where he was very friendly to you, I experienced similar warmth, helpfulness and friendliness while living in Japan for 11 years. The Japanese have a name for this concept, ichi go ichi e. This basically means that I may never meet this person again in my life so it is important to make a positive impact / impression with this interaction. It is one of the things that I love about Japan and it was so good to see that it exists in Thailand too as one day, in the future, I would love to live in Thailand too. Keep the videos coming. Enjoying them!
Hi William very cool to feel the positivity and good vibes in all your messages, thanks for taking the time to write and very glad you enjoyed this video specifically. A very special place indeed western Thailand. Have a great day today
You completely inspire me... with your wisdom, your courage, your understanding of culture and nature, and through it all... maintaining your faith! You’re a Beautiful Being🙏🏽
Knekia!! Wow. What a gift for comment I have found from you today. Thank you, thank you so much for taking the time to send that, thank you for the gift of inspiration you give me today. 🙏🏽💪🏽♥️💛💚
Hi Joel! Nothing more simple, comforting and so delicious than fresh hot bread...in your case roti... with hot tea for breakfast. Growing up my parents would send me to the bakery to buy fresh baked bread so i can make breakfast for my younger siblings before school. Thank you for another awesome Mae Sot video! Happy weekend!😊
Aww Tiare!! Thank you for the great comment and the story :-) I am imagining all of this right now, so cute!! And such a great big sister move for sure. Thanks as always for taking the time to write me after all of these videos, very glad to see this one holding something special for you today. Enjoy the day, see you for the next one :-) much love
Be careful don't get cut ,my brother in christ, that place looks busy, thank you for teaching and showing us the different places and wonderful food, sending you hugs and blessings from our lord Jesus, stay safe .
Susi, Hello and good morning I hope you’re having a great Saturday so far :-) thanks again for all the comments. Thank you for the caring words, glad to see you enjoying these videos every time
what a wonderfull video and i love the way the police men stooped the traffic to film you. people look so friendly there. and the food is realy amazing. great one joel.
That was the best part right :-) I think I was happy the whole day because of that :-) yes people here are incredibly friendly I always see the diverse places for this very special inclusion of everyone.
The flash boiled egg reminds me of my late dad! He used to have it that way, either with salty soy sauce or sea salt. Sometimes he also wanted it sweet, and he mixed it in with honey.
Sandya, I am sure I am honored :-) thanks for letting me know and pay the tip from your dad about honey, that sounds great I will remember this and I will remember you in this way :-) have a great day thanks so much for the support
@@JoelsTastyRide Thank you for replying, Joel. I am not sure if it was a traditional way to have it with honey or if it was his own concoction, but I think it was tasty.
Thanks! 😃Good to see you enjoying these Mark! I had wanted to visit Tak by bicycle for a long time (Which is like... thinking of visiting Montana. Or Alberta. Haha, just one visit is nothing of course but... it showed me how MUCH there is waiting for anyone who makes the trip!).
@@JoelsTastyRide I really do enjoy your travel videos. Do come to my home state Alaska for a bike ride, from Anchorage to Seward is pretty amazing! And we got diversity here, too. In my grandson’s elementary school, more than 145 languages are spoken by the students, parents and staff.
you are just a talented open minded appreciative soul my friend, the world needs more people like you!!!!! i am always amazed!!! at your fluency in Thai, and especially your attitude in general :)))) hi to Li ! bless you both!
Oh God bless you...I could NOT do eggs not fully cooked, I would gag on the "snotty" consistency. How I envy your iron stomach, dear Joel! LOL!! Eban would be proud of your food choices! :) Stay safe! xo
Hi Stephanie I hope you’re having a blast today super cool comment and thanks again for taking the time to write :-) I hope I can at least inspire you a little bit in this way, even if the food does not make you so hungry on this day, I guess the more important thing is to keep an open mind for anything set before us right? And I can easily be reminded by others for that same life lesson as well :-) have a great one, thanks so much for your support
A hot cup of milk tea and a warm roti sounds wonderful! It's freezing up here in Maine already!🥶 I thoroughly enjoyed this video Joel! Thanks for the prayers and our wonderful community! Please keep them up. Take care my friend!
Would love to try that amazing food. I know that you said you and your parents have done missionary work. My family married into the Mormon religion and all of her children have given their lives to missionary work. The next cousin to go has been assigned to the Philippines. You are such a wonderful example of how to bring everyone together. May God continue to bless and keep you. I have 430 patients I care for. I have been told I’m too close to my patients by management. Those young kids have no idea how to care for someone. The day I can’t care for someone the way I’ve been taught is the day management realizes their mistakes.
Saibaidee Joel! Amazing location and food. Always had kai luak growing up. Growing up in the states, kids would have fried eggs or scramble but my dad always made kai luak with toast.
Broooo hahah thank you for sharing that with me! Oh man, ok I am just imagining 20 years ago, if I were to come over to hang out at your house and see your dad doing that - I would definitely be in awe of such a cool and simple move (not knowing what KaiLuak was until I came to Asia :) )
Its so satisfying when you show the map location! Me and my children zoom into Google maps and discuss your daily adventure ! Thankyou! We appreciate you!
Thankyou for the delicious video Joel!!! the food looked so yummy !! i love milk tea!!! I have to drive to an Asian grocery store about 1/2 hour away from my house to get it but its worth it!!! and I recently found a thai lime milk tea....what a treat!!!Have a great day!!! 😄😄😄 JOEL LIKED everyone elses on this page and skippedover mine im sad here are sad faces😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
What up my buddy Joel! Great a street food tour. Love it. Everything is always looking amazing my friend. Thanks for the geographic visual. Joel I’m always encouraged by your vids. Cheers my friend! Ttyl
Always happy to see your name here thanks for the great comments. Yet again, cool vibes and big support for the big eating as well ha ha :-) I see you mention about the maps, yes just get a good look at the crazy unique location of this place. It could be in either country or it could even be it’s own little country
That was really a great start to the video, the officer offering to stop his duty and hold the camera for you...awesome. The people are friendly and welcoming, I could eat roti and anything, great video, thanks for sharing, safe travel Joel and Li❤
OMG Joel! How do you know that I needed this video! Roti is one of my favorite things to eat when I was in Thailand many moons ago. I can't get fresh roti here in Minnesota:( Please eat an extra roti with banana and condensed milk for me!
Too cool too cool always love getting messages from you in Minnesota :-) OK OK I will remember to have another ROTI for you, as you remember well these are common all over Thailand on the hotplate. But having them in the special oven is very hard to find
Vanida!! Only twice :-)??? Well OK at least you do know the basic details, you can also know maybe just from two times how addictive this simple but perfect snack can be. So you visited Bangkok? Did you grow up abroad?
That is great hey I guess he is very good because you are not the first person to recommend us :-) I did watch some of his videos, he does look like an interesting guy, thanks for reminding me
Mylah! That’s amazing thank you so much :-) I am definitely happy to hear that. Actually I do very much want to gift cycle and food tours in Thailand, not sure exactly where, and I’m still talking to Mark about it, you might know that he and another friend have a very well organized walking food tour in Bangkok, and all the smaller neighborhoods, but I want to gift longer countryside towards using the bicycle to get out near the nature and near the Local life of people out in the Thai countryside
Joel Bruner Oh, good to know about the tour in Bangkok! But yes, I’d much rather do the countryside as well! The communities are smaller in scale, which usually means the dishes are are much more similar, if not the same, as what they would have at home. And incorporating a bike ride with that to boost the appetite sounds ideal! Plus, the views while pedaling would probably be amazing!
Breakfast: who could turn down a roti? I've seen many vids from India & Pakistan of fresh roti. Who knew they had in western Thailand. And the egg shot-glass LOL Kai Luan (Kai Luac?) ... hmmm uncooked? Maybe good with all that pepper. More roti and with chick peas ... wow such a carbo overload LOL glad you got on your road bike for a ride ... beautiful scenery along the way ... thanks for sharing & have a Blessed day! Yours in Christ, Ron Bartlett, Ponce Inlet, Florida U.S.A.

CeeMe! I see you and I am happy, happy to see you are hungry but also wondering what you did to fulfill this hunger. Do you have roti near you? Hope you’re having a great day today, thanks so much for the comments as of late, hope you’re having a beautiful November
Glad you enjoyed this Duncan!!! hahaha I am now laughing with you, thank you for sharing this reaction. yeah, ok, truly though it was a first! and it made my day....
In Malaysia we have half boiled eggs and people season it with pepper and maggi seasoning or light soy sauce. This is also typically part of morning meal with toasted bread / butter/ kaya. But i think this is also common food throughout SEA. The only thing that made it unique is the use of Maggi seasoning. I think Mark ate the same roti naan with chickpea in Pakistan or middle east?
Hi Myhealand!! Thanks for the great comment, ok so I guess this is a popular breakfast snack all over SE Asia! I wonder where it started... super cool. Yes Mark and I had many different types of bread in Pakistan, Im sure this was one of them :)
Thanks! 😃AwesomeFish, thats quality, thank you so much!!! And even MORE it means that youve supported me long enough to see this progress, so that is just.... so great, thank you for taking the time to write me :). Always awesome!!! All the best to you today! See you for the next one.
Your skin is an amazing organ, not just with handling the heat from the roti oven, but also can see words in an experiment conduct by scientist with certain “gifted” individuals.
wow this is almost similar to what we have in Singapore just the only difference is the roti as we eat toasted bread with butter and kaya spread instead of the roti and the soft boil egg is in a saucer instead of on a glass
Oh wow! Ok cool Clement, yeah I love finding in the comments all of you sharing with me things that youve seen from your own homes, and how they are similar/different. So cool!! Ok, can I ask what kaya spread is?
@@JoelsTastyRide sure Joel kaya is actually a coconut jam is a jam made from a base of coconut milk, eggs and sugar. Usually is seen in countries Southeast Asia countries like Singapore and Malaysia

Knekia!! Wow.
What a gift for comment I have found from you today. Thank you, thank you so much for taking the time to send that, thank you for the gift of inspiration you give me today.
🙏🏽💪🏽♥️💛💚
Good Morning Joel so happy to see you. May GOD bless You Always.
@@JoelsTastyRide you da best Joel!🙏💗🙏
Yummy My friend lovely Place x😎
Be careful don't get cut ,my brother in christ, that place looks busy, thank you for teaching and showing us the different places and wonderful food, sending you hugs and blessings from our lord Jesus, stay safe .
Susi, Hello and good morning I hope you’re having a great Saturday so far :-) thanks again for all the comments. Thank you for the caring words, glad to see you enjoying these videos every time
God bless Susi!
what a wonderfull video and i love the way the police men stooped the traffic to film you. people look so friendly there. and the food is realy amazing. great one joel.
I loved loved loved the sky!!! Didn't mind you showing it one more time. What an AWESOME creator Jehovah is!!! Revelation 4:11.
Great job introducing a new province.
I love your videos , so calm and amazing 😀
you are just a talented open minded appreciative soul my friend, the world needs more people like you!!!!! i am always amazed!!! at your fluency in Thai, and especially your attitude in general :)))) hi to Li ! bless you both!
@@KittyMcGee1001 Welcome to winter in New England...right? I'm in northern Maine.❄⛄🥶
@@KittyMcGee1001 I'm inland. I have to agree..it sure is beautiful though!!
Hi Joel these Mae Sot series are great!! keep on trucking!!
Joel what you ate is very Indian. It is staple food in every Indian home. we make roti everyday and ginger tea with milk.
Great people, great food, gorgeous scenery ...thank you for this video Joel! You are doing great my friend ☺️
Nice one Joe! Blessed morning. Such an informative video. Truly amazing! More power Joe😍
Not sure why anybody could thumbs down this one. Loved it. I now want to visit. Beautiful scenery, delicious breakfasts.
This is what most of people eat in the northern states of India. A staple with dal and sabji. Nice vlog Joel. #chompingchampion

Hi Joel i got u early 1st to comment....enjoy ur roti an hello to Li u take care an stay safe. ❤❤🙏🙏
That should be your thing... you are number six in the order of ethnicities. So cool.
@@JoelsTastyRide As always, happy eating and stay safe:)
Nice show Joel 👍
Hello Joel way a second are you wearing a sa-rong (long-yi) you are a Thai now bro. enjoy your day in Mae Sot with good breakfast (lovely).
the hot milk tea is the best. I only had it twice, once when i ate roti mataba on kaosan road and the second time in phuket
Vanida!! Only twice :-)??? Well OK at least you do know the basic details, you can also know maybe just from two times how addictive this simple but perfect snack can be. So you visited Bangkok? Did you grow up abroad?
@@JoelsTastyRide I grew up in California. I movedd back to Thailand to work 5 yeas ago
u should connect with the canadian guy who currently live in mae sot..he used to visit every cafe in mae sot in his video..The Cycling Canadian
That is great hey I guess he is very good because you are not the first person to recommend us :-) I did watch some of his videos, he does look like an interesting guy, thanks for reminding me
That’s right, the Cycling canadian that never cycling anymore😂
Half boiled eggs or soft boiled eggs ..consume as soon as possible.
Better request for three quarter done.
Just a sharing 😅😋
Stir less too ..to prevent more air into the eggs.
Perhaps just break the yolks n enjoy
Wish I could hire you as a food tour guide, you’d be perfect!! My global travels are food inspired, and I can hardly wait to resume post pandemic!
I love roti! Very delicious!
Hi Joel i find you the most well mannerd vlogger so respectful and the most is you have time to ans your followers i love it time is precious good luck and take care God Bless you always😇

OMG, you are making me so hungry, the food looks simple but so delicious. Got to have some roti
CeeMe! I see you and I am happy, happy to see you are hungry but also wondering what you did to fulfill this hunger. Do you have roti near you? Hope you’re having a great day today, thanks so much for the comments as of late, hope you’re having a beautiful November
I always find different communities and cultures offer a wonderful cross section of cuisines to try out! Love the breakfast tour! 😍
You looks good in your sarong Joel nice colors, enjoy your videos 🥰beautiful scenery very peaceful.
Watching your Chanel before work. Laughing out loud at the traffic grinding to a halt whilst the policeman records you🤣🤣🤣
Glad you enjoyed this Duncan!!! hahaha I am now laughing with you, thank you for sharing this reaction. yeah, ok, truly though it was a first! and it made my day....
Wonderful 👏
Much LOVE to u Joel u take care an be safe.❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for showing Burmese people in Maesot
Nice i like what your wearing ,makes it like you at home.
Your intro's and editing is getting better video by video. Loving your videos because I miss Thailand and Laos so much.

Much love from Canada Joel!! Love your videos and your passion for life. Keep on travelling🚴🚲
Mae Sot looks like such a wonderful place. Definitely one I'd like to go to, I think - especially for the food!
Your skin is an amazing organ, not just with handling the heat from the roti oven, but also can see words in an experiment conduct by scientist with certain “gifted” individuals.
You are so kind. It must be Jesus shining through! Spreading His love, Joel! Thank you !!
Connie, much love, and God bless you today - I still appreciate so much the words of encouragement like that, from you!, so thank you.
Yummmmmm....at the moment, everything looks so delicious to me , coz I haven't got my lunch yet :-)
wow this is almost similar to what we have in Singapore just the only difference is the roti as we eat toasted bread with butter and kaya spread instead of the roti and the soft boil egg is in a saucer instead of on a glass
Ok. In all seriousness this is a great video. But I'm going to have to call you "DJ Brunner" from now on because of that amazing beat drop at 24:59. Dude.
