I am SO glad you embedded the pet hair in the carpet *really* good. I'm so tired of seeing the qvc style "we sprinkled some blobs of hair on the floor oh WWOOOOWW look how great it picks it up!!!" tests
I’ve suffered severely from allergies and was never able to truly clean my floor from fine dust and cat hairs. This changed the day I bought the Shark Apex. Truly one of the best vacuums I’ve ever had.
We love ours. Really no complaints except for the hose- it’s not long enough and it is too stiff. We love the power, attachments, cord length, floor type selector, light on the handle, floor lights, swivel, brush rolls, etc.
I had to stop by this video months and months later to say Thank You for the thorough reviews you do!! I got the Shark Zero M largely because of your review, and I couldn't be more pleased. My roommate and I love this vacuum so damn much, we named her Phyllis, and we regularly say she's our favorite roommate. She's the best thing to ever happen to my allergies and my house!!
Right?! I LOVE my Shark Zero M. We have shedding dogs and a long hair cat. I vacuum EVERY DAY. We have tiled floors and rugs. My sister has the Dyson V8 and thing is useless. Her battery only lasts for doing one or two rooms and things get stuck/clogged constantly and the canister is too small and the battery takes forever to charge.
@@andrewdonohue1853I would have to strongly disagree with you on this subject. I’ve owned several different brands, including Dyson, and I after owning a shark I will never go back to any other brand until they significantly improve beyond what shark has produced. If you’re going to purchase one, you should definitely spend the extra money for a top tier model though
I have been using my bigger Shark with the zero m head for cleaning houses, and I watched the hair slowly get taken off of the brush roll the other day 😂 it was very satisfying to watch

You have no idea how much you have helped me in my decision making. I've purchased a Shark Vertex solely due to your video. Great purchase decision. The only regret is I wished I could have purchased it allowing you to receive a commission. HEPA vacuums are mandatory for me. Do you have any recommendations for a HEPA wet/dry vac and HEPA carpet shampoo vacs?
Hi Vacuum Wars! Great Videos! What are your thoughts about which CORDLESS is best for pet hair (and long human hair) and tangles around the brush? Are the v11 Animal and Torque 100% equivalent in this regard and the only differences the attachment selection and the countdown screen? Needed for both carpet and hard flooring! Thanks :)
I have a quick question.. Bissell recommends the besr way to vacime is side to side.. can u run ur testes side to side because idk if this really matters
I recently purchased a Shark Rotator Powered lift away with Zero M. I absolutely love it! I have long hair down to my waist & 2 cats (one maincoon that sheds more hair than I do). I was astonished at how well this vacuum works!! It picked up twice as much as my old cheap vacuum & the room smells clean afterwards! I'm in love & I appreciate your videos! Thank you 😊
Purchased Shark Apex Zero M based on your recommendations almost a year ago. The vacuum is amazing. I don’t see enough of a difference in the vertex to upgrade at this point.
My mother had the purple shark. Honestly, I'd recommend this vacuum based purely on its performance after how my mother treats it. She's had it I'd guess for over five years and it's been emptied maybe five times, mostly by me. She never cleans it's, never de hairs the rollar. But the machine is just as powerful as when it came out the box. I'm really impressed with how long and well the vacuum has worked and if my lazy cow mother actually cleaned it once a year it'd be even more powerful
The real test is will hair get stuck in the brush roll caps or in the bearings. Does hair clog up the shroud, cyclone or filters. Or does hair get stuck in the bin and require reaching up and pulling it out. Hair on the brush is the least of your worries and easy to remove. I have had more than one vacuum that did great on hair but I later found hair clogging up the brush roll caps and bearings. Or a filter and cyclone clogged up with pet hair. Plus how well the machine does on surface hair is insignificant compared to how it does on deep down hair embedded in carpet fibers.
The best vacuum channel hands down!! You inspired me to get the Shark Apex. It works great throughout our hardwood floors! Gotta love the fuzzy roller.
Yes this vacuum is worth the investment try to get every attachment for it if its in your budget there's a few new attachments available on website and they have added to my cleaning power. Hands down best vacuum I've owned it leaves my hardwood shinny like its been buffed.. Its an upright/ canister all in one perfect for a full house cleaning vs a bulky over hyped Dyson I once owned.. 🙄 That thing was just uncessarly bulky and I couldn't even get under the highest coffee tables with that thing. 😡
my shark rotator professional (white and red) is a beast. it’s held up against 2 German Shepherds, one is a long hair shepherd. and i live in a farmhouse with 3 boys. it’s a great vacuum!
I bought my Shark apex Duo clean based on its performance in vacuum wars testing and I was so excited to see it do well in this round, especially since hair and hardwood is my biggest battle. This is the housewife content I need 🤣
You are the project farm RUclipsr of vacuums specifically, I am receiving so much extreme valuable information from you regarding these vacuums, it's what we all use in our homes on a daily basis at least for myself. Having four pets and plenty of hair that needs cleaning up after the end of the day this is valuable information. Currently watching your videos to find the best option regarding pet hair, I have 90% hard floors and the rest is carpeted, but can't really afford anything over $500, so you are my go to vacuum guy! Thank you for your product information
I just bought the shark rotator ZU620 after my 11 year old Hoover suction valve broke. I’m a dog groomer and I’m impressed and obsessed with vacuuming now! I use to get out a broom for the hardwood but now it’s easier and cleaner with the vacuum!
Purchased a shark vertex thanks to your excellent testing and content. I’m disappointed to say after 11 months of use in a home with 2 dogs and kids the front roller stopped working and Shark has informed me that this part isn’t covered under warranty and would cost over $125 with shipping to replace. While your testing and review are spot on I felt you should know that this happened to round out your knowledge. Keep up the great content.
The Shark ZU62 is the latest Navigator Pet with Zero-M. A cheaper option is the ZU60, a Walmart-only model. It's nearly identical but comes with 2 instead of 3 tools, and the tools look of lesser quality. BUT, if you only care about the performance, the 3X dust cup, and the zero-m tech it can be had for a 229 every-day price.
Just so you know as a pet owner I am a fan of Shark. However when I bought the zero M duo the one with orange roller and yellow center roller it will bind up in dog hair eventually. That duo roller in front is awful on carpet. Yes you have to remove it and clean the fur from the mount areas but I have now had a problem with center roller. I'm guessing I will have to completely take it apart to get to the center one but it is now binded in hair and I know it's around where it mounts to side of vacuum. I like my Shark rotator better for carpet and pet hair. Same with my Shark robot but still works great.
My dog has 1 to 1 1/2in stiffer short hair that seems to weave itself in the rugs and a couch. Have a Shark and it cannot get these hairs especially on the couch. Their hoses are like using exercise bands, you have to hold the unit with one hand and pull the attachment to the floor or furniture its quite the workout and makes using it even more a chore.
Exactly, I'm sweating bullets by the time I get done vacuuming area rug and front of loveseat with this shark rotator. Makes me question WHY I got this dog...(jk, keeping him, looking for better vacuum. 🙄)
With 3 long-haired dogs the pet hair is out of control around here and our 16 year old Dyson Animal wasn’t cuttin it anymore. Based on your excellent demonstration and thorough review we ordered the Shark Vertex. Fantastic on pet hair on hardwood, tile, and marble floors. Exceptional.
I've had multiple vacuums over the years including my trusty old 1983 Rainbow D3C and I'm back to only using the Rainbow. It's the last one standing and it works the best. We have multiple cats and clean carpet. Edit: If your long human hair is falling out in clumps, you have a bigger problem than finding a good vacuum cleaner.
I really appreciate these tests and reviews. The thoroughness and consistency is trust-worthy and results in useful informaton that’s applicable to real-world issues! So glad I found this channel before buying my next vacuum.
I just bought the vertex because my dyson animal was not getting my Shiite dig hair out of rugs after multiple passes. While I was totally shocked and impressed by the vertex my arm is now killing me from vacuuming on rugs.
I own a Bissell Clearview vacuum that I purchased at Sam’s Club on sale for $80. It is currently the highest rated affordable vacuum ($100 and under) on Amazon and elsewhere. The first one I purchased broke within the first month of ownership. The bristles/brush abruptly quit spinning. Not at all surprising considering I used it to vacuum a restaurant floor five nights a week. A floor which often wet, damp, and/or often littered with little pieces of food (corn, green beans, etc) I had my second one now about six months and believe I found the problem. I believe I was vacuuming too low on the first one. I returned and replaced the first one after it broke and raised the vacuum height to 3/4 from the 1/2 I used on the first vacuum and it seems to have solved the problem.
Bought the Shark Navigator based on this review. Was very tempted by the Vertex, but as my house is mostly carpet, I thought it would be better to save the money and go with the one better for that. Love it. Legitimately the best vacuum I've ever owned.
Between the three Shark models that you recommend, which do you feel does the best overall job for a near even mix of hard floor vs carpet? We are planning on removing all carpet but that is about another 1-2 years out. Right now, we need pet fuzz and super long human hair angst control.
After binge watching some of your videos this morning, I have mixed emotions. I’m 1. Glad that I somehow managed to own your number one “cheap” recommendation, but 2. I now want to include a vacuum on my list for our new house because some of these are really just impressive, specifically for the aspect of them making the amount of dust in my home so much better
Shark have a new rotator with the new duo clean lift away technology (Shark® Rotator® Lift-Away® ADV Upright Vacuum with DuoClean® PowerFins™ and Self-Cleaning Brushroll) is more affordable, how does this compare to the vertex? my house is full tile floors
Shark navigator zero is really good. I have 3 cats and live in dusty Texas. The Navigator and the Bissel revolution pet work really well together. I withheld my upvote until I had some uses with the navigator and just came back to show my approval. Good stuff my man.
You are so detailed absolutely straight-forward and extremely helpful! Such an Under-rated channel in my opinion (and I literally just finished watching this video, the first video I've watched of yours... So far)! Needless to say, ya got another subscriber. Thank you so much for your well-planned out test and overall suggestions!
I bought my used Apex for ALL hair. My wife's and cats'. Over 18" long human hair and ultra fine long cat hair. You don't realize how much is in the carpet until you empty the bin. The top part of the bin separates larger heavy objects like screws. Yes, I was curious if it would pick up some concrete screws I dropped on the floor.
Lmao I think my hair exists more than my shedding critters's fur. ( I've got hair down to middle of back) I'm always cutting mine out of the brushes. At my boyfriend's we use sticky backed labels as a pre sweep for my hair lol.
I got a vertex and its legit good af. I had a rug in my house that never got completely "clean" with my regular shark power lift. But with my new vertex the rug is spotless
If you’re planning on getting a SHARK VERTEX POWERED LIFT AWAY Duo clean: great vacuum but be prepared for it to trip the breakers making it impossible to use especially if you plan to use it in a new-build home.
I don't know if there's any place to find this one, but the best pet vacuum I know is the electrolux ultraflex bagless canister vacuum. What makes it so good is how well it cleans up litter, even from litter mats and grout cracks, and it being absolutely incredible on both hard floor and carpets. I had a shark navigator lift-away and struggled with it, but this baby saved me. Also, unlike the navigator, it can get under any furniture... which is a big deal if you're dealing with pet dander.
I love love love my Shark Apex Duoclean! I'm glad you mentioned needing to clean between the rollers, though; in a heavy pet hair environment, it gets trapped in there and actually felts.
Thank you for this great comparison! My bissel pet hair eraser broke a few days ago after about 5 years of use and I'm now in the market for a new vacuum! I was surprised to see the Bissel still on this list all these years later but I guess it's overall a good vacuum. That blind spot due to the belt is extremely annoying though so I do think I will be trying a Shark this time around!
I've been using the Shark Navigator for 4 years now with a Golden Retriever that sheds a ton. It is a game changer and still works like the day I bought it. Such a simple comb design but very effective. Later, I bought the shark AI robot vacuum that also combs the brush roll, but it doesn't work nearly as well. I'd like to see a similar video for robot vacuums that's only focus is pet hair. Curious if there is anything better than what I already have.
Dreame, Roborock, and Narwal have new models in the works that they are all claiming will be quite good with tangles. All of these are planned to be available later this year. We are excited to see how well they do and we are hoping they do well in particular with longer hair like your dog has. Can you wait a little longer?
@@VacuumWars Yes I have no problem waiting. Just got the S8 pro ultra for my downstairs with hard floor and moved my shark upstairs with carpet. The shark does well but I have to clean the brush roll a couple times a week. Maybe a year from now I'll be in the market to replace the Shark with something that handles pet hair and carpet exceptionally.
I’ve had mixed results with Sharks Zero-M heads. As far as hair, yeah sure it’s great, but my household has younger kids with little toys(legos) and other small random bits. Objects that are about 1/4” in diameter constantly get stuck in the head. So, long story short I find myself maintaining the “Zero-maintenance” head much more often than would be considered normal.
@@Firstfalconfree Yeah, we’ve got a model ZU632, and it is great for carpet and hard floors alike, but 4 out of 5 times I use it I’m opening up the head(which is easy with a coin) to fish something out. Small legos, paper clip, etc. Little things that the Kirby would eat, never to be seen again.
Dyson has discontinued all of their corded vacuums and most of their older cordless stick vacuums, concentrating on their newer cordless stick vacuums. Doesn't make sense to add a old, discontinued vacuum for this.
Had the Virtex for a year or more now and haven't got ANY hair on the roller. My NV752 had a small dog worth of my wife hair wrapped around the roller ever month.
Difference between zu 60 and m 561? Which would you recommend. I just used my rotator to clean out my uncle’s apartment that passed and need a new one. Yes I have a dog that sheds. Thanks for your help!
Would you consider doing a review set focused on usability and health for people who are sickly? I have been watching your videos for a couple of months, digging through piles of vacuums and I'm just exhausted because it seems like there is nothing that is light enough and easy enough for someone with my lack of strength while also being good at avoiding allergen spreading and decent anti tangle, but it is hard to tell since no one goes into the usability details very much. A video that goes over usability in detail with attention to use by people with generalized weakness, hand/wrist weakness and arthritis and only looks at vacuums with good seals I think would be really helpful for many people.
Thank you for your suggestion and for sharing your experience! I'm adding this to our idea list. In the meantime, have you looked at the Shark Navigator® Speed Upright Vacuum with Lift-Away® & Self-Cleaning Brushroll or a one of the Robot Vacuums with a self emptying bin? Those may be helpful. I have read lots of reviews for Shark vacuums including the models you have reviewed in this video along with several other models. The thing that makes me hesitant to purchase is the complaints about the company not honoring the warranty or saying they will do something and never doing it. In a nut shell complaints about very poor customer service. I do realize that you need to take reviews with a grain of salt but when there are so many similar reviews it has to make me wonder. What is your take on this issue?
If anyone needs cat hair for scientific purposes, I'd be glad to help out! My biggest boy gets a thorough furminator brushing every season and I come away with over 10 handfuls of fur off him. I give it to my sister; she leaves it out by her bird feeders so birds will take it for their nests 🙂
I don’t understand why there is no vacuum that has been made by any brand that has a roller that does the whole collecting hair thing where it can be removed. Every vacuum gets human hair tangled, even the ones he says are the best get some hair caught occasionally and while its not a lot of hair, why can’t they just invent a removable roller. Not the front cloth roller like the vertex but the other roller that actually gets hair stuck. Maybe I’m missing something but instead of having to tediously yank the hair out, why can’t they just create it to where that roller detaches easily and you can just easily get the hair off the roller. It’s hard to pull the hair out of the side parts and if the whole thing came off we wouldn’t have this issue
Great info! The scientific style is appreciated! Given the Shark Navigator Zero M cleared long hair on its own here, it might be nice to add a “hair self clearing” opportunity for all vacuums. Believe I’ve seen some videos that illustrate some of the newer brush heads doing this self clearing. Thanks!
I have 2 Shark Apex, both have stopped working after a couple of years. When trying to get them fixed, every vacuum repair store I contacted, which was 6, I was told by every single one that they could not get parts for Shark vacuums. I would steer clear of Shark. They were awesome for pet hair, but if I can't get them repaired when needed, I consider them throw away vacuums.
I've used several since finding thwem at apartment I work at . Just now used Bissell powerforce helix vacuum without proper filer it was ,missing . used old cleaning cloth and picked up a hefty amount of dust bunnies crap almost half a foot measuring from bottom of cannister . Every vacuum I'use dworker good enough my two cents
I kind of wish you would do a more realistic pet hair test. The dog hair in my house literally seems to weave itself into our area rugs. So your tests of piles of hair or stands of hair laying ontop of carpet doesn't really tell me which is best at getting the hair out. Not sure how you'd do a test like this maybe since you have cats doing a test on your own area rug with your own cats would be better?
Im not really sure of a bagged vacuum that has made a claim about hair tangling, which was the point of this particular video. There might be, let me know if you find one.

Not at all surprising considering I used it to vacuum a restaurant floor five nights a week. A floor which often wet, damp, and/or often littered with little pieces of food (corn, green beans, etc)
I had my second one now about six months and believe I found the problem.
That is great to hear! I am glad you are happy with it!
What model did you buy? I have both carpet and hardwood, but honestly I am more worried about getting the carpet deep clean.
Can you do an updated video on this? If you feel the results are the same or if some of the new ones work better
Forget pet hair, we need a women hair test!
That’s urgent I know
I bought my used Apex for ALL hair.
Lol
@@JakkiPi shark Apex?
Lmao I think my hair exists more than my shedding critters's fur. ( I've got hair down to middle of back) I'm always cutting mine out of the brushes. At my boyfriend's we use sticky backed labels as a pre sweep for my hair lol.
I got a vertex and its legit good af. I had a rug in my house that never got completely "clean" with my regular shark power lift. But with my new vertex the rug is spotless
That's great!
If you’re planning on getting a SHARK VERTEX POWERED LIFT AWAY Duo clean: great vacuum but be prepared for it to trip the breakers making it impossible to use especially if you plan to use it in a new-build home.
Could you do a comparison of the Shark Vertex upright and the Shark Apex upright vacuums?
The world needs you around Vacuum Wars
I never comment on these kinds of videos but your video deserves it! Thanks for the great video, ordering the navigator on Friday.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
I love love love my Shark Apex Duoclean! I'm glad you mentioned needing to clean between the rollers, though; in a heavy pet hair environment, it gets trapped in there and actually felts.
You can’t beat a good vacuum for picking up the dreaded dog hair it gets everywhere 👍👍
Hey, can you do a wet dry shop vac review for 2020?
Genius! The least van be said about this video. This detailed scientific approach is fabulous
Thank you for saying this. It is tough to find one vacuum that works well for both tiny random stuff and animal hair.
Just curious why you decided against the ball animal for this test. Isn't that one designed for pets? Or at least the attachment set?
Dyson has discontinued all of their corded vacuums and most of their older cordless stick vacuums, concentrating on their newer cordless stick vacuums. Doesn't make sense to add a old, discontinued vacuum for this.
Thank you sir!
With all the fake reviews out there now, it's hard to know what's good or not.
Thanks again!
You bet!
Thank you so much sir I bought the shark vertex and I couldn't be happier with them in my hardwood floor home.
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Much appreciated!
My pleasure!
As someone with 18 inch hair, I appreciate this.
Using longer fibers allows those lime me with super long hair get a better idea of how much our hair would tangle in these
Just saw an ad for Kenmore's new Intuition. Have you tested it?
Had the Virtex for a year or more now and haven't got ANY hair on the roller. My NV752 had a small dog worth of my wife hair wrapped around the roller ever month.
Difference between zu 60 and m 561? Which would you recommend. I just used my rotator to clean out my uncle’s apartment that passed and need a new one. Yes I have a dog that sheds. Thanks for your help!
Appreciate the amount of effort put into this video. Good work guys
Thanks so much.
Excellent video! Good to know about the Bissell but the exhaust blowing everything all over is something I didn't think of!
Thanks! 👍
the best and thorough vacuum analytic video I have ever seen! you are amazing
Glad you think so!
Would you recommend the Apex or Vertex? I have 2 corgis so I need a new vacuum because my carpets aren’t getting deep cleaned with the one I have
Thanks so much for these videos! Im trying to figure out what vacuum I should buy and I have found lots of information from you. Lifesaver!
Glad it was helpful!
On the vertex, run the vacuum on the second carpet setting to completely remove the hair every single time after about 5 min.. I love my vertex
Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for this video! Super helpful. The factors considered was everything I was looking for and into a less than 10 min video.
Glad it was helpful!
"So, I need hair. Pet hair and human hair. Various length. And I need a lot."
- "But what for?!"
"For ehm.. scientific research purposes 😐"
😂
If anyone needs cat hair for scientific purposes, I'd be glad to help out! My biggest boy gets a thorough furminator brushing every season and I come away with over 10 handfuls of fur off him. I give it to my sister; she leaves it out by her bird feeders so birds will take it for their nests 🙂
I’m torn between what to get for both pet hair and sand! What do you recommend?
🎉say it for the people in the back!!🎉
Great info! The scientific style is appreciated! Given the Shark Navigator Zero M cleared long hair on its own here, it might be nice to add a “hair self clearing” opportunity for all vacuums. Believe I’ve seen some videos that illustrate some of the newer brush heads doing this self clearing. Thanks!
Brother thank you and I appreciate the embedded p
Hair tests because anyone can pick shit up that was just dropped. Kudos
Please do an update to this video! Possible one with cordless vacs. With 2 dogs, pet hair is my number one nemesis.
What about cordless handheld vacuums, more reviews about those would be nice...
Would you say the Lupe is not a good recommendation (compared to the ones you listed here) for pet hair on hardwood floors?
I pick the dyson because it does great with my carpet. The multi floor.
What vacuums do you like best?
To this day I still dont know why bissell put the belt in the middle.
Can you do a test on the Eureka Floor Rover?
I kind of wish you would do a more realistic pet hair test. The dog hair in my house literally seems to weave itself into our area rugs. So your tests of piles of hair or stands of hair laying ontop of carpet doesn't really tell me which is best at getting the hair out. Not sure how you'd do a test like this maybe since you have cats doing a test on your own area rug with your own cats would be better?
I would've liked to see a bagged vacuum included in the video.
dirtdevil7bo same bagged is better everytime I'd never get a bagless
Im not really sure of a bagged vacuum that has made a claim about hair tangling, which was the point of this particular video. There might be, let me know if you find one.
@@VacuumWars Could you review the Neabot?
Me too! I hate bagless.
What is the best vacuums with hepa
We mention filtration in all of our reviews, so there is a lot to choose from here.
I love your videos and your channel! I watch every single one and don’t even really need a new vacuum! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Will do!
A $40 bissell works great too, you just have to empty it after every room otherwise it will clog up.
@Vacuum Wars, do you sell your vacuum cleaners? If so, I’d love to get my hands on a few.
I used to, but I keep them around now. Sorry.
I'm so happy someone took the time to do this hahaha. My corgi/Australian shepherd mix sheds 24/7.
Someone explain to me why the Shark Vertex is cheaper than the Apex.
I know I’ve hit peak adulthood because I deliberately searched out this video 😂
Welcome!
Your a SHARK homer for GREAT reason. Them DYSON BOYS are simply hard to beat in REAL WORLD situations, (NOT SO EXTREME SITUATIONS).
I personally love how you nerd out with the details and data. good show. Yes, I have OWNED ALL of these guys personally, DYSON IS BOOMING. SHARK is RIGHT next. everything else outside of EXPENSIVE HEAVY DUTY, HIGH SUCTION PRO VACUUMS is LAST place. Keep up the awesome work. PEOPLE, PAY ATTENTION TO THE DETAILED DATA.
My Eureka has a razor that you press down and it slices the hair and is vacuumed up.
I do have to say I’m not a big fan of shark I’m more of a fan of Dyson but shark has definitely come along way
What is the best bagged HEPA sealed vacuum? I wish Shark had bagged vacuums.
Why didn't you do a miele? They're considered by most vacuum repairmen to be the best vacuum without comparison.
