Thank you so much for this. I almost bought this product as it was on sale this past week for 1/2 off. I am tall and the length of this unit that alone made me decide it's a no-go for me. I'm so glad you pointed that out.
I bought one for my first floor (all hard floor w/ area rugs) and it’s the perfect use case. This is the same level as my garage so I intend to use it in the car as well. I agree with your point that it would not suffice to replace a better vacuum on standard carpet, though. My other Dyson cordless is 8 years old and still works well (only replaced the battery last year.)
I have a V12 and love everything about it, especially the laser dust detection which is an absolute game changer imo. The only downside to it is the battery life isn’t that great. Knowing what I know about it, the Digital Slim model is ideal for someone who isn’t too tall and has hardwood or hard floors. If you have a lot of rugs or carpeting I’d suggest investing in a V12 if you have a smaller apartment or opting for a larger model with better battery life if your home is larger. For any of these models though, keep in mind you’ll be switching vacuum heads pretty regularly if you have both hard flooring and carpeting or rugs. It can be a bit of a nuisance but worth it for effective, proper cleaning.
I bought mine yesterday for 229 at bb. Ptoblem is im 5.10 and after 10 minutes of use my lower back hurt cause im bending to oneside. Im thinking of returning. My kid has the 7 and that doesn't bother my back. Not sure if i will stic with dyson as the price goes up quite a bite for a better model. I do like the timer on the front, that helps.
What a thorough and easy to follow review! Thank you! How does the volume compare to the other models? I’ve had reg v6 for several years but I’m afraid it’s too loud on the ears for my young baby. Would like a newer, quieter model if possible
If the shark is $150 or less, the shark plus a $30 dustbuster.

@@TheFrenchGlow The shark is $199.. I ended up grabbing the Digital Slim for $229 at best buy and It actually works pretty good for my use case, but extra suction would be helpful, and was curious about more power, so I ordered a V15 detect absolute for $570 from Dyson direct. hoping it comes within 2 weeks so i can compare and keep the one I want.
I'm planning on using it for our cars mostly. Seems like a good fit for that purpose. At $230 (current Best Buy price), seems like a good deal. Incidentally, I just purchased it from Dyson for $249.99, but they price match (within 30 days), so they'll refund me the difference. I have a Shark handheld, but it's underpowered. Hoping the Digital Slim has more suction power than my Shark. TBD.
As a tall person, I strongly recommend you to get the low-reach adaptor because it will extend the length by 6.75 inches, and you can easily clean under sofa or table.
@ Yes, it’s an optional accessory, and you don’t have to buy the OEM one (quite expensive), Amazon has lots of knock off version and it performs the same.
I think the point of this Dyson is that it's a quick pick me up vacuum or maybe for studio apartments. It's not designed for heavy duty deep cleaning which is why it's currently on sale for $250 and I can imagine Dyson will do a lot of sales on it in the future.
@TheFrenchGlow I guess at that point you're paying for the technology like the cyclones for no loss of suction, the good battery life, the ease of use, the sealed filtration, the screen on the back. It's not bad but when I tried it myself I was a bit disappointed but I can definitely see there being a market for it although not huge.
I just bought it yesterday at a discounted rate from Best Buy. I agree with your review, but I think it is sufficient and works well for a small apartment like mine (one bedroom and a small kitchen). Also, my carpet is plush and flat, which is easier to vacuum with the Dyson Digital Slim vacuum.
@@TheFrenchGlow its also been discounted on the Dyson website to $249. I'm taking mine back tomorrow, it's worse than my 3 year old Samsung Jet. The charger is also inferior with it having to be placed precisely. Not a good machine imo. I don't care about the name.
black friday deals for the digital slim, vs the v8 plus on amazon only has a $50 difference. maybe the v8 would be better, cos it has more suction and bigger capcity bagless area. ?? yes?
I’d pick it over V12 deffo. Don’t like on/off button. Obviously the vacuum has been designed for different kind of consumers. Not everyone needs V10 or V11 but might not want to spend more to get small/light V12 cause they don’t need Auto mode for example. I think Digital Slim fits perfectly in range. Is half price vacuum going to do same job? Well I wouldn’t say so. Tried many and even though they might vacuum the same, Dyson excels in other aspects.
agreed. while I do get Dyson intended this for Southeast Asia, there are plenty of alternatives at this power including old Dysons. Main drawback with the Slim is tiny battery pack, it will die early and require replacements
Idk, I got mine for 229 dollars through Best Buy and it works fine on all my carpet at medium. Its especially nice for easy dusting using the brush. The wand is especially nice for my GF who is below 5'. I think this vacuum is for specific people. In my area, there is no Dyson that comes close to the on sale price. I'd agree it doesnt make a lot of sense to buy at full price.
@@catacocamping874 Actually, funny you mention that. I own a Shark Stratos, and if you can grab the Dyson slim on sale at 228 it blows Shark out of the water. The build quality alone is wonderful.

Perfect timing to find this video. I gave you a thumbs up!
Thank you!

The V12 is the greatest thing I have ever purchased (Maybe). The Laser is a game changer.
Great video. Answered whether I should get the slim or the v11 refurbished. Thanks 👍

This is perfect for my mom who is ‘4”9!
Dyson Digital Slim vs Shark Detect Pro?? for mostly hardwood and a rug

Bought this online, this is fine for me I live in a 570 square feet condo. It’s perfect for me 😊

Its still double the price of most of the competition at $250 and not many quick pick me up vacs cost $250 on sale.

looking for the vacum air filter replacment and cant find it any where or what is compatible with the digital slim could you help me out thank you
I just bought this vacuum. Didn’t expect it to be that small. Now I feel like I might cancel the transaction and go for the V7 going for $250
Can you please explain what’s ‘digital’ about this vacuum cleaner? Thanks.
It has a digital display. The V8 doesn’t have that.
It for hard floors and rugs. That is it. Not many battery vacuums are built to replace an upright or canister corded vacuum.
I'd agree, I wouldn't pick this if I had a ton of carpet and stairs.

You might want to check back with Best Buy. They just dropped price to $229.99. Hopefully, they have a 30-day price guarantee.
Its on sale for $229 at best buy
Now we know how highly Dyson rates the digital slim because Dyson hates to discount this aggressive for new to market products.
@TheFrenchGlow which would u recommend for thick carpeting on stairs?

I want them to bring back the Dyson Micro 1.5kg
I feel like if they made the tube taller, it would have even less suction.
I can't imagine 2-4 inches would hurt that much.
