I have both models. I like them. I am the world's worst knife sharpener. I have the uncanny ability to take a slightly dull knife and make it even duller. These knives are very tough and can take a beating. I know because I watch RUclips. Thanks for the Video. I subscribed, liked, and hit the bell so, keep up the good work!
Robert..you can learn to sharpen almost every knife. When i started with sharpen i had the same problem as you. Everybody Who sharpens knives been there. Try to practice so much as you can and find your own sharpen style what works for you. Use Diamond stones.. Believe me..Everybody can sharpen a knife. But you must practice. Succes!
Cool knife for the price. In my opinion, maybe not as a main belt knife. But strapped to my backpack, for example as a tool for hard use in the camp, it's perfectly fine. I have three GLOCK knives, both models. I actually use one of them, two are in reserve, or in case I need a "last minute gift" for someone 😉 Greetings from Germany!
Yeah i just reprofiled the tip and sharpened it up its my self defence knife me and this knife go way back and it save my life i also have like 4 of them now
Greetings Germany The Glock web site says it's a saw. Like the saw in the entrenching tool, it's a "push saw" intended for cutting roots while digging trenches.
its my main defensive option its not for cutting but for poking i have a cold steel knife for slicing and htis for poking and a cold steel trail hawk for wood prep and defense
Sorry to say, but your Cold Steel is a piece of junk by comparison. If you want a utility knife along similar lines to Glock, consider Terava Jaarika Puukko 110 and 140.
My 2 Glock knives came on the dull side. In the army I were told when the army got new Glock knives they were refered to as samurai swords, very sharp.
Nice ot hear it was cheap for you. I paid $164. Had 2. Brought 4 more last week. And I'm not selling😛 This is the next Gerber MkII, only more collectible as it is more legal in more countries and more versatile. Collected for 50 years. It the strongest, most versatile knife in its class in the world - Joe x/ Nos

great video, great knife👍👍...in wikipedia is written about all, even who use the knife (,,USERS,,)and separately due tue each model ..for example M81 is used by Malaysia and Poland in the same way like 78 in other countries...and besides 81 also as a survival knife...material .SAE 1095 carbon steel (SAE means ,,SPRING,,)...I bought Dark Earth Coyote color...very nice color too👍
The Glock 78 is not easy to find they are no longer in production and they will only get more expensive because they will be harder to find just purchased one for around $80 and I got it from someone in Poland off of eBay. The Glock 81 with the route saw is still easy to find, but also no longer made the Glock 78 is made for one thing. The Glock 81 is more like a survival knife and not good for what the Glock 78 is made for. Better than a K bar as far as durability goes.
I paid $200. So did many. So I dont know who where orhow ppl are buying them for $30. Those days are gone. The knife was discontinued 3 years ago. Its the next Gerber MkII, but better and more versatile more legal in more countries. The 78 will cost $1000 in 5 years.
hey bro, new sub for ya here, i am a u.s. marine vet here 93' to 97' active , only have email here, would love to talk more , thanks n talk soon bro > tom !
It’s not really a saw for wood. Look up sawback bayonets from ww1 and you know what It’s made for. It’s also not a bushcraft knife. It’s a military tool.
I agree just dont like the saw . I know you can get the model 79 but harder to find in stock . Throws well . As somone who sux at throwing knives this thing sticks better than the dedicated throwing knives I have
It is not a rat tail, glocks have partial tang (it goes deep about 2 handle sections) but it is way more durable than most knives, even those with full tang.

Is it still $30? what's the maximum price you would pay for it?

@@stihlsawrepairs7955 wish i could if you were close to me you would know what i have been through.
The part on the back is not a saw, it is a rasp, grater.
It can be very useful, but not as a saw.

The Glock web site says it's a saw.
Like the saw in the entrenching tool, it's a "push saw" intended for cutting roots while digging trenches.
I love this knife. I have used it camping, hiking, and clearing my property. The root saw works really well. ...and like you said, easy to sharpen.

Great honest real review, I apreciate it
Awesome blade bro.
I have both G78 and 81, super durable knives.
My 2 Glock knives came on the dull side. In the army I were told when the army got new Glock knives they were refered to as samurai swords, very sharp.
Fun Fact Glock made knives For The Military before They were known for there guns Its more of a Bayonet Knife But its Great For outdoors Too
Very nice knife for the price.. He's right about the soft steel though. It's very easy to sharpen - yet easy to lose it's edge. But for $30 who cares.

I’m a Glock fan so the knife automatically interests me. But I have no idea what I’d ever use it for.

Interesting.
What is the name of that you used to sharpen it with ? Grit etc? Thanks in advance. 🙏💕
I don’t know the name, generic stone from hardware store. I think the fine grit side is around 1000 though.
Your belt clip actually clips into its self, mine looks like it’s supposed to but it doesn’t at all, it’s not long enough. Am I missing something?
They should make a throwing hatchet
Nice work!
Thanks!
Quale scegliere tra il 78 e 81 sono indeciso, per soft air
Would have liked to see the saw back in action
OMFG that edge lord heroic music while you're stabbing water bottles and sharpening a fucking knife 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Worst knife i have ever used. Used it for 7 years, in the army and still have it. Doesn't keep an edge and rusts constantly.
BUT you carried it professionally for SEVEN years and STILL have it 👊

That's not correct. It's the Glock 78 Battle Green that is out of production they still produce it but only in black.
I like sheath - possible insert knife both sides , good fixation , I am extratсting by pushing by index finger,
Cool i'm getting one . Getting a sub to mate 👍
You better hurry up, they are disappearing forever. Discontinued. The 78 is the best, but rare even now.
@@Revelation1316 I got 2 👍🏻
@@concernedaussie1330 Well done. Where did you buy if FM78?
@@Revelation1316 cleaver firearms, they had quite a few last time I was there.
They are on there website if you go to accessories then knives.

The glock 17 was made in 1982
HRC 55 is very very soft my chef knifes are 61+
It’s low, but it makes sense for the purpose of the knife.
Buy a Cold steel SRK $37 its a great knife at a nice price .
Might have to…
Just subbed I love knives especially Randall made knives and Blackjacks from Effingham Il. and the newer ones all were and are made by Mike Stewart

The Glock knife sucks. Try using that sawback for cutting wood, even small pieces. It's not worth a damn. Get a Ka-bar .
It’s not really a saw for wood. Look up sawback bayonets from ww1 and you know what It’s made for. It’s also not a bushcraft knife. It’s a military tool.

It batoned pretty good but it IS a rat tail so this is better served as a defensive knife in my opinion.

@@polskipolak9073 It's still a rat tail. I own one. Good reviews.
