That's wild. I'd say close to 99% of the jokes didn't land for me. We're talking the commentary, donation comments, and unusual chants from the crowd. This type of humor reminds me of when someone gets wasted and keeps talking. I guess there's a reason why famous funny TV shows, stand up routines, movies, etc. aren't just a collection of varied puns, sarcasm, impressions without thought into what is said with the voice, non-sequiturs, chanted memes, and yelling. TBH, a truly funny moment usually isn't forced and takes some great experience to do well. There were a few comments from the crowd that played off the nonstop attempted jokes that were funny though.

Patty is amazing. He isn't just comedic. He adds explanation and knows when to listen. Kudos to the other 2 people on the couch, I can't imagine a better dynamic. The woman made this extremely pleasant.
This was quite different than any commentary experience I've ever had at a GDQ event. I had a blast on the couch with Kelpsey, Patty, Ivan, and Andy. I see some complaints about the style of the commentary. I'm not sure what people expected from commentary with 5 microphones. Talking about the minutiae of randomizer would have been boring honestly. We touched on the big points of what the combo randomizer is, what's different, and what to look out for. I'm not about covering room by room in randomizer, but more telling the story. Had this been a race, the commentary would have had a much different feel. I thought the run/commentary/hosting was fantastic all around.
Two years later and I'm watching this run for the first time and DYING at the commentary. Idk what people expect, but this was one of the most epic couches of all time. I watch/listen to a lot of GDQ when I work and this is probably the best and most entertaining.
I know I'm over 2 years late to the party, but I somehow missed this at the time and only just found the video today. I'm an hour in and positively busting a gut. The Elmo impression (and entire Sesame Street bit) was hilarious. This is just a ton of fun to watch and I'm just sorry I missed seeing it live. 2 million dollars, ah ah ah!
Fantastic couch and fantastic commentary. Any time Patty is on the couch you know you're in for a ride of a lifetime. I feel bad for Andy more than halfway through; you could tell he wasn't feeling well. He still pulled through, though! Both runners did fantastic and I hope for future rando runs to get into GDQ!
I always love SMZ3 rando, I super-duper love Andy and Ivan ... but the real winner here is probably Patty. Between "The Count" counting (ah, ah, ah!) that continued all the way to the Chrono Trigger finale, and then the beautiful rendition of Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" -- yeah. That was probably the most entertaining part of all of GDQ. Ever. Kiss From a Rose starts at 1:28:32
I tried to sleep to Let's GO Eevee and it took forever because the banter was so good. I ended up falling asleep close to Victory Road, and was woken up to the announcer singing the Pokemon theme. If it were anything else, I would have been ticked off
I kinda feel bad for the other couch members because Patty gets so much hype, but I think he noticed they got neglected and made sure to try to bring attention to them a few times. Such a great run.
@Danielle Anderson Most of them are inside jokes, plus it is simply the humor that Patty has usually. If he cannot take them, don't worry, he will definitely tell you.
I have to tell you, I've watched all your GDQ commentaries, and I've watched them all several times. It's that entertaining. I wish you the best, Patty.
This was, hands-down, the funniest and most entertaining GDQ run I've ever seen. Watching games get beat fast in weird ways is one thing, but what really makes runs like this special is the great chemistry between everybody onstage. I could not stop laughing.
can we just appreciate the UI changes throughout the run? changing the twitch tag, changing the category to "co-op beat the games (but also a race)", just... mwah. nice job tech team!
I've probably watched/listened to this video at least 10 times in the last 6-12 months just because its so entertaining even when you know what's coming. Probably the best run/commentary from all of the GDQ's
"Hey, did you get speed... in... the dark room?" "............No." "...Okay." 1 of about 8,000 blink-and-you-miss-it moments that made me lol on this run.
This game has an amazing community so if you're new to the run, check it out! We have races going on all the time for pretty much all the gamemodes too, it's a blast! We have more patty, more andy (so much andy), more ivan so do enjoy that! Amazing runs! Well done!
So many good speedruns at SGDQ 2019, but this and Chrono Trigger were the best! This run had the best couch and back-and-forth banter between the whole crew though!!!
He even has the King Kai voice hitch when he said "If you don't check the pedestal we'll never get the Dragon Ball!" I was in stitches! I also think that when Ivan suggested King Kai that Patty realized he had a King Kai.
Still blows me away that randomizers are a thing, let alone smacking two completely different games together like this. Speedrunners and TASers are responsible for great, unimaginable things. Thanks to GDQ, they even do it for great causes. Keep it up, all of you. I want to see more great things from you before I die!
I watched pretty much all the runs on GDQ with Patty involved but this one is just the most hilarious one for sure. I have kept the smile for the entire run even for stupid jokes that normally wouldn't make me laugh but they do. Definetly one of the best runs live ever!
I think this is the funniest commentary I've ever had the pleasure of listening to during a GDQ run. The runners, the couch, even the audience on fire with all the jokes, haha.
The couch. The runners. The audience. The anouncer. So much sass and joy. I come back to this sometimes but can never watch the whole thing... so I just click a random spot and find some genuinely fun stuff. Thanks GDQ for moments like these.
It's been such a long time since I have seen this in live, and the countdown to 2 million still makes me laugh and cry of joy, no matter how many times I watch it. Thanks for the wonderful memories and the generous donations!
2:08:33 choo choo lol. So Andy"s fighting a chicken..... Ivan"s dying to normal enemies. Next to ivan"s ganon death, highlight of the match. Paty is so funny through out. Exchange some words

This video was “ Patty does improv stand up for 3 hours with randomized gameplay in the background” and I love every second of it. It had me rolling.
i put this video on to cheer me up. Behold the magical singing couch.

Yo, you all did amazing and it was hilarious to watch, I realize this is months late, but this was such an awesome run.
Agreed, that was one of the best runs and commentaries I've ever seen. :)
Forget them, me and my wife had a blast listening to all five of you. You stepping in for Andy was huge too, major thumbs up from us.

Both runners *and* the couch all seemed to be having a blast the whole time. Really makes these 2+ hour runs so much more enjoyable to watch.
A bit late to the party but didn't specifically Andy have a blast? :)
Any time Patty is on the couch. You know this is gonna be a good run.
Brad Arkenstone do you know any other runs he was on the couch for this gdq
@@carplibe He hosted during the Majora's Mask run, was also on fire there.
@@carplibe I believe he was the host during the Majora's Mask run in this SGDQ.
@@carplibe I don't believe he was on the couch for anything else, but he was the one reading donations during the Majora's Mask run
Caroline Boyle he only did this one. But he was a donation reader for the Majora’s mask run and he was amazing doing that too.
“Ivan’s fighting Ganon, everyone look”
*Ivan instantly dies*

I hope Andy felt better quickly; he was being a good sport through all the jibing through all that, too. Thanks for the great run, Andy. :)
Patty's style of humor isn't for everyone, but I love him. Bring him back every time there's a lttp run.
Is Patty a streamer or does he do other things with gaming?
@@nosferatunl620 Maybe late but yes, Patty streams. His handle on twitch is Patty as well.
You said the whole not for everyone thing and you made me think patty was like, problematic but holy crap a couch with patty is fantastic

omg you're my hero, i'd lost my place

Same here! One of the most fun run I have seen of all GDQs!!
23:01 "Andy, why aren't you hovering?" at the exact moment he finds the boots. Absolutely fantastic.
This is the first video that was over 3 hours long that I didn't purposely put on to fall asleep to
I tried to sleep to Let's GO Eevee and it took forever because the banter was so good. I ended up falling asleep close to Victory Road, and was woken up to the announcer singing the Pokemon theme. If it were anything else, I would have been ticked off
glad to know i'm not the only one who sleeps to speedruns!
Hands down one of the most entertaining runs I've watched in a while.
1:52:07 One of the best Carl Sagan impressions I have heard in a long time....
It's amazing right?
too funny XD
Thanks for saving this!
Reminds me of Agent Smith (Weaving) in the Matrix
I kinda feel bad for the other couch members because Patty gets so much hype, but I think he noticed they got neglected and made sure to try to bring attention to them a few times. Such a great run.
I love the fact that the tech crew mutes the game audio to let Patty to sing xD. One of the most hilarious runs ever!
I always love the randomizer runs in SGDQ. Big props to Andy and Ivan, as well as the amazing commentator, Patty!
1:44:10 Had to time stamp the King Kai impression cause that shit had me laughing for a solid 15 mins straight
This run is my introduction to Patty and I am intrigued
Go to the 2018 rando run
Ya know... I love watching these runs for the commentary and displays of skill, but this banter is unreal. I love this stream.
Poor Andy
Hey sorry for the orb donation but Sky didn't have to read it ;D
Patty you made this run so much more enjoyable to watch
@Danielle Anderson Most of them are inside jokes, plus it is simply the humor that Patty has usually.

I have to tell you, I've watched all your GDQ commentaries, and I've watched them all several times. It's that entertaining. I wish you the best, Patty.
I have only watched half of this so far and I have laughed more watching this run than any other run I've watched from GDQ. Outstanding and hilarious!

Props to Patty for quite possibly the funniest couch commentary I've ever heard
The funniest run on the schedule. The banter was amazing.
This and the Pokemon Crystal run was SOOO entertaining.
"Patty best couch."
"I am not a couch! I've put on a little weight, but come on!"
Oh Patty... Love ya
Seriously, Patty made this couch commentary.
Its some of the best GDQ commentary ever.
More of this, please :P

maybe the best GDQ event ever? like holy shit I am laughing almost nonstop for HOURS at these idiots' shenanigans???
mee too!! best gdq event Ive ever seen since. and best rando event too
I also appreciated the "It's not a race" guy
Andy also ran ALTTP with Patty on the couch. Very worth it.

I just love the banter between Ivan, Patty, and Andy. Made this an extremely entertaining run to watch.

This run and Chrono Trigger elevated SGDQ2019 so much, awesome runs guys.
And Patty was great too.
The energy and interaction in the crowd for this run was AMAZING
One of the most entertaining runs in GDQ history. Awesome runners and couch! Salutes to Patty!
"It's a race, it's a race... I'm weening, I'm weening!" - I love that scene.
This is, by far, one of the best, if not THE BEST hours on GDQ ever. I've been watching this video monthly and by God it's fun and amazing.
The couch's interpretation of Twitch chat was spot on. xD
2:05:10 "Guess you never made it to 1-4" somebody call a doctor, cause that burn was sick
This is like watching the multiworld randomizers with Andy, Patty, and Ivan, only now they're all in the same room!

Easily the best run of the event... Hopefully they do more runs like this
I think this is the funniest commentary I've ever had the pleasure of listening to during a GDQ run. The runners, the couch, even the audience on fire with all the jokes, haha.
It would be awesome to see more randomizers at GDQ for games that are extremely well known, like Super Metroid, Link to the Past, or Pokemon games.
*Runners mock randomizer twitch chats, then guy in background* "words hurt!" 1:33:02
That King Kai impersonation was spot on but could we also acknowledge that dead on Yajirobe impersonation?
God, I forgot how hilarious this run was. Such good banter.
This is great to see are Link and Samus help eachother
One of the Best speedrun
With the Best feel and ambiance I saw
Love it 😍
Two all time favourite games in one video - LOVE IT!
Every time I watch this, I just cannot help but notice how much trouble Kelpsey has keeping a straight face whenever Patty says something dumb.
The couch. The runners. The audience. The anouncer. So much sass and joy. I come back to this sometimes but can never watch the whole thing... so I just click a random spot and find some genuinely fun stuff. Thanks GDQ for moments like these.
Actually the greatest commentary I've ever heard in my life!
This is best GDQ couch.
Patty is stealing every show where he shows up. That man is a fucking genius.
Here I am back to the annual watching of this awesome run
Put Andy and Ivan on the title please! Should also put Patty there, there shouldn't be a lttp-run without his commentary.
Still my favourite GDQ run to this day , just lettin everybody know, Good day to you guys 🤘
I laughed when they did the "I'm Winning" quote.
Good ol' Mr. Bean in Rat Race lol
Love the banter coming from the audience
I already saw this yet I came back to rewatch. Best GDQ segment.
I remember watching this when it was first streamed and laughing my ass off the whole time! Good memories
Haha I love how patty slaps Andy when he's singing haha he caught me off guard
I think this may be one of my favorite runs ever at an SGDQ or AGDQ

what delightful commentary!
This is legitimately one of my favorite runs. Runners and couch A1 throughout the whole thing.
One of, if not *the* , funniest run of them all.
Wow, this may be the funniest and most fun run of SGDQ!
